Just a little more info for better tone (imho): roll the volume back to 90% and you'll get a very sweet spot. Full volume exposes some flaws. Again this is from my experience. Also be aware of the truss rod adjustment nut. It's basically made of chalk
It depends what it is if I mod it or not,I usually try to keep my Fenders all original. As for Squiers their necks are VERY temperamental ,the slightest change in the weather they move around a bit
It actually did sound better than I thought it was going to after his comments. I've heard a whole lot worse bridge pickups on much more expensive instruments.
Will you be getting in the Squier Paranormal series in? Love to see a rundown of the 54' Jazz bass they are doing! Plus this Jag bass seems to be the closest you can get to a Mike Kerr signature as he has a custom short scale Jag with block inlays
Mike kerr signature would be amazing could see it being very pricey though ! The humbuckers in it are very rare , would sell like hot cakes though especially the orange he has , he upgraded all the hardware to gold to recently
I have to say, I have been buying basses and guitars for three decades… I have not noticed that cheaper instruments need more maintenance over time. Yes, they need more help with a set up. But after that, I don’t find it to be any more work than an expensive instrument.
I played one of those a week ago,I like them, but the finish makes them look and feel cheap, like a big piece of plastic,it's not plastic just feels that way,I played thru a decent be amp to a Mark bass of some type, sounded good just felt cheap because of the finish,it was white...🤟🤟🤟
I wish they’d replicate the old Japanese jazz version tbh. They’ve tried the p/j a few times and I’m not such a big fan of it on an instrument like this. The body shape screams surf/rock
Meh, Jaguar basses are one of the only easy way to an offset body with P pickup, and THE only way at this pricepoint. If they were willing to do more P in a Jazz body basses I might agree but as someone who loves offsets AND p bass sound, this is exactly my kind of thing.
I have ZERO experience with Sire stuff. I can't give a solid opinion there sorry. I've heard good thing though. These are rock-solid for the price as well. Thanks for watching - Anthony
@@EmpireMusicPgh after thinking about it I'll go with this bass, as it offers you to have the iconic sounds you can hear in the most of records. The blending options (that I think only this bass has) are a plus, too.
I wish more bass demos would play more opened up and along with drums, even in a band setting since that's how most of us will use them. Noodling in your room is great, but I want to hear how it sounds "in the wild " as is were.
It just has that great rock sound that I'm looking for.
Quality bass player. I'd love to have an album of just this kind of solo bass playing.
Love the tint on those necks in the line!

Great review. Just bought one yesterday in black. Love it; thanks again!
any neck dive
Sounds great

after hating on the bridge pup - 12:43 "...actually it sounds REALLY good"... LOL.
Good piece. I'm now going to get one.
Got one, love it to pieces. So much more than a PJ.

@@1okanaganguy How wold you say it sounds like in a mix when recording? Is that Precision pickup good?
This is a good option for my short fingers!
4 Sure
My son bought one like your. Sound great.
Just bought a black one. Such an underrated bass, a sleeper. Much prefer this over my Ray 4. And, it is actually 34"...
Sounds like you picked up a J bass with concentric knobs
Just bought one on sale. Thanks for the review
Awesome... enjoy! Thanks for watching - Anthony

your reviews are always great, how did those vintage tall frets feel?

Killer review thanks!
Did you notice if the fret job on this was horrendously not level? Had that with my CV 70’s precision and just bought this one
I subbed purely to support a local shop,80 mile's away local but still local, lol
Where are you located in the Burgh? I'm pretty familiar with the city and getting around it
I would love if you make a review of the squier contemporary jazz bass Active and passive one please!!!!!

Need 30” and satin but this looks and sounds great.
Are these the same pickups that are in the Fender Mustang PJ bass?
I don’t believe so. Imo squire pickups are good cheap pick ups, not quite as good as a mid tier but no where near as bad as a entry level
Ok so i have a question. You have 2 tone knobs but how do you select what pickup you want to use?
Front knobs = Volume/Tone for P Pickup. Back Knobs = Volume/Tone for J Pickup. Hope that helps - Anthony
@@EmpireMusicPgh Thanks! I didn't really get what you meant but after I looked at some pictures I saw there's like 2 layers of knobs.
did good here,, some useful jabber
I am recovering from Lumbar-fusion Back surgery and need to switch to a much lighter bass. Can you tell me exactly how much this bass weighs ???

Its not super light
So you can mix the p pick up with the j pick up?
You can have any mix of tone and volume for both pickups
