    The interior quality may not feel or look as luxurious as the competition but Lexus and Toyota has quality where it counts; underneath the skin.

      This one is very good-looking, but personally I think the 2004 to 2009 is classic, still looks modern, same reliability just doesn't have all the text features of the new ones, and the second generation you can actually get a panoramic moonroof which you couldn't get in this generation, it was rare but they still had it

    • @MugatuJag
      @MugatuJag 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @james 699 I completely agree, also the second generation came with a multi panel moonroof or panoramic roof which while rare was a great option. I just waste the second generation had a keyless entry and start, I was surprised they didn't offer it for being the best selling model, in 2004 the Lexus LS had keyless go

There are BMW 7’s from 2000 with almost no rust and they’ve outlived Chevy Cavaliers from 2004 that are now rusting to the point of junk. My old 745 was taken in and out a heated garage through 18 of Canada’s coldest winters and not a spot of rust. The engine is horrible but the body isn’t rusting.

      MDX is larger and has a 3rd row seat so that may be a reason to go that route. Otherwise, I prefer the styling and interior on the RX. The reviewer missed mentioning the maintainance cost on this Lexus vs German vehicles. Not only the 2GR-FE and the powertrain is more reliable but also this car shares many other mechanical parts with the well built Sienna and Highlander which makes parts available for cheaper than German vehicles and not to mention the electronics malfunction with German and the cost to repair. I know people who sold their German vehicles and bought Lexus (they sold their headache and bought a peace of mind). To the average consumer that is worth alot when making a decision to buy a lexury vehicle.

      I recently bought a silver 2014 with comparable mileage for $24k. It's in perfect condition, even still smells like a new car, only flaw is a small dent/scrape on the passenger front door. Sounds like $25 K for a year newer is about right.These have higher resale values than German cars because they are way more reliable. I plan to drive mine for 10 years. You can't do that with a 9 year old BMW or Audi without spending many thousands of dollars fixing constant mechanical failures. Considering my other options for $24k, and the reputation of RX's for reliability, I think a 9 year old, low mileage Lexus was a better choice then a newer X5 or a Durango or something.

    Hello!
    Thx for your thoughts on this vehicle!🤗
    I’ve been looking for a pre owned Lexus for a while now, and although I would love to stay with 2end gen ones( which I agree look plenty good) but as I do my due diligence and research all the real world feedback/ reviews, I’m finding over and over again that there were very costly repairs that most had with the older ones that in no way could I ever afford. They were very common complaints that could end up catastrophic😔
    Things like water getting inside cabin foot wells, oil cooler hoses, water pumps, rear differential, bushings, power steering replacement….😢 need I go on?
    These problems were not just people complaining, they were actually affirmed by Lexus themselves, yet no recourse was given by them, the customer had to flip the bill in the end. The average repairs totaled 6,000$ and the saddest thing is they occurred early on.
    So my question to you is are these 2010’s and above have these horrible issues that you know of??
    I hope you can answer this for me because I may just skip over this car if this is still going on.
    Much appreciated:)

      Hi thx for your input👐
      Right after I wrote this comment, I ended up purchasing a 2005 Rex 330 with. only 92,000 mi and in mint condition both interior and exterior! The previous owner kept in garaged and really didn’t seem to use it that much. I was nervous because I was using some $ from my retirement fund that is not very big. I had it checked out by a few mechanics before purchasing and had to have the timing belt replaced and water pump for 850$
      So the dealer brought cost down to 10 from 11,000.00.
      They said it ran well but there were no detailed car fax records of maintenance repairs etc.
      Bottom line I felt in my gut that she’s a ’good one’..... Hope I’m right because I plan on having this one to my end of days🤞
      I sold the car I had, 2002 Honda CRV to my niece who loved mine and was in need of a car.
      I had that CRV for 20 yrs and only had 130,000 mi!! I rarely serviced it and it still kept going all those yrs!!! And hopefully will go another 100-200 thousand!
      I really hope and pray this lexus will match or exceed that reliability? 🌼

      oem plugs are known to last quite a while, denso I believe. Once the cowl and wiper assembly are taken off, it’s a bit easier

      The plugs in my 2010 aren’t due for changing until 120k, so at least they aren’t a often maintenance item.

      @@robertbonner5973 Yeah, my 2013 has 120k right now. :( Dealer wants $1400 to change them.

    that’s a weird place to put the steering wheel heater button, under the start engine button, hard to find in the dark. 🤦‍♂️

    How would you compare the ride quality in this vs the 2nd Gen?

    • @DrivenCompanion
      @DrivenCompanion  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd say its slightly better. It feels a bit sportier with a slightly stiffer suspension that gives it better handling but they are quite similar overall.

      @@DrivenCompanion right. My thoughts exactly. I want a living room on wheels experience. Not stiff or sporty. I want soft and cushy.
