  • I love collecting old cameras. I have 16 cameras in my collection, including 12 that are pre-digital. 4 in particular mean a lot to me, and I want to begin sharing more about my camers.

Thank you so much! I Love learning more about this camera. The second gen XG-1 as my first 35mm camera. I eventually got the 1st and 3rd gen to complete the set. Definitely a tank for first time camera buyers.

Excellent vid! The Minolta XG-1(n) you show was even offered until 1984! It was then finally replaced by the X-300. There were 3 different models. The original XG-1 with old Minolta logo. The same with the new logo as a stop-gap when that new 'rising sun'- logo was introduced for 1981 and some older XG-1's needed rebatching to match the new looks in 1981. Then, in 1981 too, the XG-1(n) came. An upgraded XG-1 in the more modern body of the XG-M (so in line with the new X-700). The XG-1(n) had acute matte focussing screen and some other small improvements over the original. Still, no light meter when shooting in manual.

Thank you for this insight! Since I'm not overly familiar with some of these, I'm limited by what other people have written on the internet. Trying to vet the articles I pull from by making sure they look legit and talk about cameras, but that is some great extra knowledge!

60 is red because it is the flash sync time.

a famous ISO 25 film used to be the Kodachrome 25, also many of the old bw films are around ISO 65ish (ie. Svema 64 and 65)

@@Milledge.Austin no worries :) one more fun film to try... Adox CMS 20 ll Pro... it's ISO 9-20 :P but in exchange it has the sharpest picture (smallest grain size) and the most possibility to enlarge it (even to 5m wide print) on the market.

Unfortunately not. I used it during a basic Intro to Photography course, but never used it with a flash. My guess is that, due to its age, it would need to have a specific flash that will work with it.

@@Milledge.Austin understandable. One last thing with this model is there like long exposure? Like without holding the shutter button? Like using a cable, we’re you hold the thing and then release

Flash sync time is 60, marked in red.
