Note that my recommendation only applies if you already own the Missouri. If you don't, then saving for the Missouri is a better idea as it's a great ship and gives you significantly better credits and XP. Unless you're a major tea-boo and absolutely have to have the Nelson.
Some days ago sea-group posted an article that in 0.6.10 Nelson and the high tier RN BB are going to get nerfed on release. "British Battleship Fixed the auto bounce angle of AP shells on certain British battleships. (Queen Elizabeth, Nelson, 419mm-gun Lion and Conqueror retained their legacy 60°/67.5° auto bounce angle by mistake and therefore they looked more powerful than they should be.)" How is this going to impact the performance of the guns?
Flamu you do realise that at irl long range combat distances, where shells are plunging down at relatively steep angles, flat turret faces potentially give the shell a less favourable angle of attack...? At long ranges, an angled turret face is pretty damn flat to a shell plunging down.
The irony is that, as far as I know, the Nelson class was the only British BB class that was designed with long range battles in the Pacific in mind, while all the other ones were, like their German counter parts, built for short range fights in the Atlantic.
They deliberately "Gimped" this ship in order to shoe horn it into tier 7. (Or keep it from being OP in tier 7) because the AA is supposed to be far more powerful. The real HMS nelson had 61x1 20mm, but in game only has 37X1 20mm. Also, on the real HMS Nelson, the 12x2 152mm guns were duel purpose. (AA Capable). But they aren't in game. Before anyone points out how historically crappy the 152mm guns were for AA, I will point at how strong they made the historically crappy AA rocket launchers on hood. And if it were a pre refit version, the 152s would still be DP, and the ship would have X2 torpedo launchers on deck and far less AA then it has in game.
I am a massive Tea-Boo, and I care not a fig for Yank BBs, so Nelson is a lady I've been waiting for a very long time. Plus, I have enough Free XP for her right now. :"D
Just paid just under £35 to transfer my shimakaze xp to free xp. Totally fun ship and earns dreadnoughts and fire proof in a doddle. Early birthday present worth it
well... i have to ask that question you have over 500 million credits and 1.5 million free xp means you can unlock every new ship coming into the game and even fully equip them :D where is your motivation to play, when you dont have anything to grind? doesnt this get boring after some time?
I guess it doesn't get boring for him, since he can basically play whatever he likes, unlike us casuals that sadly can't commit shit tons of times into game and end up either stopping the game, since the progression is so damn slow, or get bored of current line and jump to the next one. (That's what I have anyway... After so much time I have put into the game... Still got only 1 Tier IX and the other unlocked, but can't afford to buy, while having 2 Tier VIIIs waiting for purchase.)
So do I, it still feels slow to me. I am impatient like that, but I deal with it. I just wish I could pick up any ship I want and play it, rather than being like "Hmm. I really want Yamato..." "Oh yeah, I need to go through my Izumo first." or lately, I wanted to play German DDs, but when I tested them out, I didn't enjoyed them until tier VII, so I can't really play them either, since I would have to play through stuff I do not enjoy. I do not blame it on the game though, I know that it is my fault for being impatient and wanting too many things, but hey, everyone has a right to complain. x3
Flamu still plays more or less most of the new ships that are introduced. From what I have seen so far, he only uses free-xp to upgrade newly bought ships immediately. And in rarer cases, to skip ships that he does not enjoy.
Nelson that's trying to angle the stern vs a North Carolina is simply a stupid one. I met a guy in a Nelson and he had his bow so nicely angled so I couldn't pen his armor. It all went down hill for him when he turned around 5km away from me in a cyclone. He then tried to angle his stern but what he didn't know was that the rear citadel armor on the Nelson is crap so I just aimed for the stern and got 2 cit hits and killed him instantly. "HAX!", was his response in the chat and I told him to check his armor in the stern and later he sent a message: Man, my armor in the rear is really crap...
i got enough fxp for Missouri after 6 months...but i did use xp boosts like signal flags and camo. just save it all and play your best ships with the best xp and fxp boosts, especially with premium, during specials, with first wins. now im more than half way to the Nelson
Joe Average I just love how perfict everyone wants people to be with spelling and so on. You can hardly see your phine have the time, auto correct makes a mockery of you. You dont sound like your being mean but often people are just dbags about that stuff.
Saw this on stream. That Atlanta threw the game the moment he decided not to run and hide once he was behind the island. Would have won on points with 100% certainty.
This magazine protection of this ship does have to be seriously good at loooong ranges (frankly longer range than is even viable in this game). That 356mm belt is sloped inwards and the deck above the magazines is like 165mm (once again, plunging fire sadly isn't really a thing in this game).
Only real missplay was possibly the usage of DCP at 12:54, you could have just put on the heal after a bit longer and let it overheal until the fire is almost out and you would have DCP if somehow the atlanta survives in the next engagement..
Ground 200k free exp this weekend in just 40 games by stacking the hell out of those good special exp flags so I've got 425k now, easily enough for the Nelson and to start my way up the Brit BBs.
40 games in a weekend ??? spend more time outside man..fuck these games i for one always choose to spend time with buddies over anything related to PCs it's much healthier
The USN BB line is pretty underperforming imo. The NC is the only real notable ship in the entire line. I said it in OBT and I still say it in 6.10. Sadly the only USN line I found worth playing, imo, was the DD line and even then after the stealth fire nerfs, they are hit and miss till T8. GL to your journey though. Hope your experience was better than mine anyway.
How do the shells behave in terms of penetration. Do the ap and he shells follow like the tree BBs have where the ap has a short fuse while the he gets ifhe built in like they did to the german cruisers recently? I noticed you struggled with that angled fuso which made me wonder if he would have been a better choice. Kind of like how you discovered the need to switch shells with the kgv.
The guns do seem to have a few issues regarding pen I think. I took almost all the shells from a broadside at 4km in a Scharnhorst for around 17k. But that's a Scharnhorst, and you don't expect much more, but angled, 3-4k max. I think shells seen to fuse before penning the citadel when trying to bow pen
I love Izumo (yeah, it burns a lot and looks weird, but it's not actually as bad as most people think), so i'm sure to get the 375k for Nelson, much rather than 700k for Misouri, as i don't really like Iowa. Either i'm crazy or the popular opinion on Izumo is rather undeserved, but Izumo just feels as much better overall ship than Iowa And since Nelson is basically tier VII Izumo with crazy-ass heal and better turret placement, i'm sure to like it...
I liked it too. I loved those weird pen characteristics it seemed to consistently have. More so than Nagato and Amagi. I didn't mind the Izumo grind to the ultimate prize.
Does the turret turn 360 degrees? He said the turret faces frontwards unlike the Izumo, so I'm thinking either its limited to facing 180 degrees front or it turns all the way around...
The two lower turrets (rear + forward) can probably turn something like 295 degrees whereas the middle turret would have 360. As far as that goes, there isn't that much point because the ships superstructure is in the way of firing directly back, so 295 is about the best you could want.
i just bought the Alabama recently, and i have the Texas and Arizona for crew training. im at the New York in US BB line. should i still save for the Missouri or just get the nelson so i have a RN BB crew trainer? i have about 200k free exp.
durnominator Ships do not have special Credit multipliers , it id based on tier. Every T9 premium would have the same credit earnings as the missouri. The nelson will earn the same as every T7 premium
Yeap, +50% iirc. They also come with a free permanent camo as well that gives them a boost to XP on top of that. Hence why a good premium ship (T7+) is ideal for Credit/XP/Commander farming.
Yes, premiums earn more credits. The Missouri also has cheaper service fees, costing only 60k credits to service (normal T9 service fee is 120k credits), so total can be about 90k if you count in 30k for ammo. I suppose these cheaper service fees are true for other premiums as well, I haven't just paid attention to it for them, since my other premiums are T6 max.
What about the Nagato at tier 7? Do you consider it to be a strong ship? I have one and i feel that it is very underperforming. The 410mm guns are not accurate and dont seem to penetrate. Also the RNG is insane.
Nagato has 2.0 sigma. I love its ballistics. It's one of the few BB's I know if I am going to instantly delete someone before I even fire. When I finally unlocked the Amagi, I instantly felt the accuracy loss. The biggest Issue I had with the Nagato was it's wonky armor. Unlike the Magi, Kongo and Fuso, the Nagato's armor fails to load or something haha.
Yeah man go play the Germans. You'll never complain about accuracy on IJN ships again. Especially Gneisenau and Friedrich. With the Friedrich you almost give up on aiming and just shoot them in the general direction. It's just as likely to score a hit. And then there are the complete misses at 4 km with the Gneisenau's front turrets. That's a lot of fun too. Love that ship though. Mine has 96 AA rating.
Gneisenau is imo a massive setback in the line. You can't play it any other way other than yolo'ing. Only 6 guns that either bounce or overpen most of the time *WHEN* they actually do hit anything. I got up to the Gniesenau, did 25 matches and bought the Scharn to Free XP past that nonsense. And I also 2nd the IJN lines. I went from grinding the German BB line then decided to finally grind up the IJN BB line and holy shit what a difference. T3 and 4 are pretty rough, but then it's all green pastures. Was breaking 100k with ease, just in the T5 Kongo alone and the line only gets better and better as you go up. It's like going from shotguns (German) to sniper rifles (Japanese).
Nagato has better accuracy than the Colorado which is praised for accuracy(both 2.0 sigma, but Nagato has tighter horizontal dispersion). I haven't played any of the new HMS BB's, but of all the ones I have played, Natago and Warspite were the two that always stood out to me as most accurate, to the point I knew if I was going to delete someone before even firing. You sure you're not thinking of the Fuso? I recall it being frustrating sometimes, even at close range.
I guess I will get it, because I have just about the XP for it and I don't play enough for the Missouri. Before I reach that ship, I will have lost interest in that game....
Though the Missouri is a decent ship, looking back now I can't say it was really worth the Free XP cost, esp with new lines coming out at far faster rates now. That Free XP is better used elsewhere honestly. Unless you are a huge Missouri/USN fanatic etc.
not realy true the heal is needed, because its tankyness isnt that great like a scharnhorst, King Georg V or a ather very good armored BB. how can realy tank and bounce shells with there armor and get not that easy citadels or overmatched in front the super heal only balanced his weakness out but its still a good ship with realy nice guns and interesting abilitys witch i will farm. the super heal can make bad surprice for enemys when they think you are neerly dead and they whant to push and you are 5s later neerly full... what a surprice...
So is there any extra money earned on the Nelson? I'll never get enough Free XP to get the Missouri, so thinking of using this one as a money maker. Would that be valid?
5chr4pn3ll Na, it just makes the same amount of credits as any other ship. With the amount of damage the Nelson is gonna take, the repair bills are gonna be high.
If the nelson has 32 deck armour KGV should have 32 bow armor or dexk armour, dont know why KGV's armour is so bad when it cant overmatch tier 7 bows, I think it is a good ship thoug but if nelson has that armour...
Depends, if you start stacking up all the flags, camos and XP boosts I think you get to something like 1400% XP, so I have them on my Missouri and have had games with 10K plus free XP.
2 years in, and this thing gets citadelled through the nose constantly, get citadelled when Angled because Sinip, gets raped by all the he spammers and it’s AP isnt good enough at range. it’s an XP piñata BB that spams HE and can’t push..... wish I had kept my free XP.....
Flamu remember the heal DOESNT heal extra when u take MORE dmg. it only heals what it can THE MOMENT U ACTIVATE IT. so if u take more dmg it will IGNORE it. i always try to use the repair ONLY when fire damage reduces the final HP left AFTER the heal as it means the heal is maxed.
This is one very annoying ship, desperately needs a spotter plane, always always out of kilter and in the wrong position on the map, and always facing ships with greater gun range, playing her solo is near on impossible, used to be my favourite ship but hating the Nelson now.
i'm sick of the fucking Nelson! I always get wrecked by carriers and that happens in way more than half of my games. Without the good heal it would be a piece of shit.
Donny Whisnu I have Unicum level stats and 2.2k battles played and I've never saved up that much free xp. Sure, its doable if you start saving early on, but for most people its not something theyre willing to put the immense amount of time into.
Note that my recommendation only applies if you already own the Missouri. If you don't, then saving for the Missouri is a better idea as it's a great ship and gives you significantly better credits and XP. Unless you're a major tea-boo and absolutely have to have the Nelson.
Flamu sadly I'm a Brit and thus for me the Nelson takes priority over Missouri :). Great game and good review!
Dat patriotism tho
underwater 4dimensionnal chess is my answer
Whats a "Tea-boo"!?
Do we know that its gonna be 350k Free XP?
Some days ago sea-group posted an article that in 0.6.10 Nelson and the high tier RN BB are going to get nerfed on release.

So... it's KNOT going to break any speed records? ;D
I'll escort myself out now.

Nunya Beeswax the problem i have with but-the-real-one complaints is that you are not willing to try the real one and stick to keyboard reality....
HMS Rodney*
AGAIN, Why does Nelsons 406mm guns sound like 140mm guns?
Cause WG :3
Because it shoots 16 inch tea bags rather than shells
its was work in progress not done yet so no gun sounds yet
Early people get to make jokes, so here is one: Destroyer balance.
Winged_One here’s another one. Cruisers.
US tier 9.5 Montana
ijn dds have ninja-torps. xD
T7 ca's might need a buff, but for the time being, they good
Its a bird, its a plane, no, its the Nelson! RUN!!!!

If I had saved all the free xp scents I started playing I still dont think I would have half what I need for Missouri.
I wouldn't have half enough for THIS ship. lol
Yeah, I've only spent like 15k free xp since I started playing. If I'd saved it all, I would have maybe 12-13% of what I need for Missouri.
i got enough fxp for Missouri after 6 months...but i did use xp boosts like signal flags and camo.

2:27there is an anime reference first person will get my love.
My favorite tier 7 UK BB is still the Belfast.
WG Breaking News: Newly introduced premium (ship/tank/plane) is possibly the best in its tier! Unheard of!!
This and the Sinop, is my absolute game favourite ships, I even place it higher then the Georgia.

it's much healthier
strange they did not add the version of the Nelson with the 2x 622mm torpedo tubes
Looks like the Nelson is a nightmare to cruisers and a target for battleships.
Going for the American line. Am at the NY now. Hope for the best at tier 7. 😅
Gabriele Scalise The biggest issue of Colorado is her speed, everything else is fine. ;)
Speed and constant overpens everywhere. New Mexico is way more fun, Im sure you are going to like her.
The USN BB line is pretty underperforming imo. The NC is the only real notable ship in the entire line. I said it in OBT and I still say it in 6.10. Teaboo. That's a new one
this ship like wolferin...have crazy regen!!
Does turning circle radius feel as good as in Warspite Flamu?
Once did 200k with HE nelson. Great ship.
Thanks man, I can't wait for it.
I only have 200K free XP so I don't see myself getting this thing anytime soon, if at all. I'll wait and eventually get the MO.
Does the turret turn 360 degrees? He said the turret faces frontwards unlike the Izumo, so I'm thinking either its limited to facing 180 degrees front or it turns all the way around...

Andy Craighead the missouri is crazy good and gets you more credits than the Nelson
Hmm. Killed one of these in my Scharn. Didn't get citadels even broadside on. Torps work tho. But yeah, pretty stronk.
Shankar Ramachandran shocking. I was getting cited easily in mine whenever I angled to use the 3rd gun.
Proceeds to not talk about Nelson's amazing HE shell DMG and fire chance... Also, doesn't fire a single HE salvo.
Beacause the AP is so much better with accuracy, pen and caliber=overmatch
Wouldn't it be better to use repair after your heal Ends? Since the heal heals every Fire dmg anyway so you get the repair Duration after healing
Fuck the Nelson, i want my MEGAZAO!!!
WOW!! What a carry?!
Hadn’t realised 46% fire chance!! Highest in the game?
Incredible game.
Bananas
I need to know if the Nelson and Duke share the same captain build?
Very nice game Flamu.
How's Nelson's credit printing press compared to Missouri?

whats the point of having all the guns in the front if its gonna be overmatched when angling?
Flamu says it in the video: Because all of the guns face forward, you can switch sides and have all of your guns still be on target.
What is the sigma on the Nelson ? some volleys seem to be all over the map.
Sigma isn't too important.
It's 1.9 btw
ty
tfw your angled at a bismarck and he does a 51k salvo to you
What about the Nagato at tier 7? Do you consider it to be a strong ship? I have one and i feel that it is very underperforming. The 410mm guns are not accurate and dont seem to penetrate. Also the RNG is insane.

The velocity on those guns is absurd, the shots are landing in 4 seconds at 12km.
Not even close, it was 6 seconds at 11km. Talk about fast counting it haha
What's that thing above the Yorck at 3:45?
aslains wows modpack mobus marker mod. shows what is going on, on that ship ,friend or foe. flood, fire -and consumables.
is nelson moneymaker ?
That heal ...
should i save for missouri or just get nelson?

He KINDA already answered that
LOL thx
xD nice badge Flamu
People made fun of this ship back in the days, saying she's "The largest Monitor ever built."
and you thought that german bbs were op...
it breaks 24 nuts?
i bet this ship would suffer a lot from ap bombs but one heal should be able to fix it
"citadel" damage = 10% repair
welp rip
How much will this ship cost in freexp?
I heard 375000
I guess I will get it, because I have just about the XP for it and I don't play enough for the Missouri. Before I reach that ship, I will have lost interest in that game....

not realy true the heal is needed, because its tankyness isnt that great like a scharnhorst, King Georg V or a ather very good armored BB.
how can realy tank and bounce shells with there armor and get not that easy citadels or overmatched in front the super heal only balanced his weakness out but its still a good ship with realy nice guns and interesting abilitys witch i will farm. the super heal can make bad surprice for enemys when they think you are neerly dead and they whant to push and you are 5s later neerly full... what a surprice...
Black Templar yeah, it's much squishier than most people admit.
Is it always going to be for free XP?
MatJan86 Yes for about 300000+ exp
So is there any extra money earned on the Nelson? I'll never get enough Free XP to get the Missouri, so thinking of using this one as a money maker. Would that be valid?
5chr4pn3ll Na, it just makes the same amount of credits as any other ship. With the amount of damage the Nelson is gonna take, the repair bills are gonna be high.
Enraging Comment You know WoWS now have capped maintainnent bill right?
Nelson isnt really that popular because her sister Rodney played a part on sinking Bismarck.
best t7 battleship? dude i think you forget the gneisenau :D
The gneisenau was a cruiser irl lmao
@@ordavis a battlecruiser...
@@lewistaylor2858 not even close to the being best T7 BB tho
and they're still forgetting colorado's heal
zahid fakhruddin how so?
It's easy to forget....
jingles sent me
If the nelson has 32 deck armour KGV should have 32 bow armor or dexk armour, dont know why KGV's armour is so bad when it cant overmatch tier 7 bows, I think it is a good ship thoug but if nelson has that armour...
59.4k, its not the pathetic 50k of the CO.
The enemy team really should have won that game...
Literally all they had to so was go and hide.
Approximately how long will it take to save up 375k free xp?
Architect11 Until the heat death of the universe
Depends, if you start stacking up all the flags, camos and XP boosts I think you get to something like 1400% XP, so I have them on my Missouri and have had games with 10K plus free XP.
As long as it takes to grind it. I recommend Visa.
Don't they (guns) sound cruiser guns
Nice
2 years in, and this thing gets citadelled through the nose constantly, get citadelled when
Angled because Sinip, gets raped by all the he spammers and it’s AP isnt good enough at range. it’s an XP piñata BB that spams HE and can’t push..... wish I had kept my free XP.....
I love FLamu
>teaaboo
KEK
with the super heal on the nelson you shoudnt even bother putitng out 2 firs only 3
Minor error: the Atlanta does not have torps with which to ambush the Nelson.
Lol..Go and Play that game where Atlanta got No torps.. oh my ^_^
Atlanta does have torps, 4 per side in fact. They're just very bad torps (4.5 km range).
Could you make a commentary video how to use heal correctly? To max out the heal thanks
I know you were in a lobby with teamkrado!!! and you died... torpedos are not so weak...
Flamu remember the heal DOESNT heal extra when u take MORE dmg.
it only heals what it can THE MOMENT U ACTIVATE IT.
so if u take more dmg it will IGNORE it.
i always try to use the repair ONLY when fire damage reduces the final HP left AFTER the heal as it means the heal is maxed.
cobrazax no, if you take damage while it is active it will heal a portion of that new damage too
23 minutes? Pfft. Amateur.
What RN cl don't have RN bb have, op HE. What RN cl always get RN bb almost never get, citadel being hit. So Nelson doesn't act like a RN bb.....
I'm getting one
that He spam from the altanta us just cancer....
When you play Nelson, you'll laugh every time someone spams HE at you because of the heal.
Nelson is my favorite ship in the game!
Here's proof: th-cam.com/video/GVMMnVyvGJU/w-d-xo.html
It's so disgusting how long that atlanta was focusing you for in exchange for basically nothing.
Mike Pegg he got his damage i guess :d
This is one very annoying ship, desperately needs a spotter plane, always always out of kilter and in the wrong position on the map, and always facing ships with greater gun range, playing her solo is near on impossible, used to be my favourite ship but hating the Nelson now.
So this ship keeps the bullshit heal and the great guns and hood trades that for a gimmick DEF AA lel.
This is the ugliest ship humanity has ever created
i'm sick of the fucking Nelson! I always get wrecked by carriers and that happens in way more than half of my games. Without the good heal it would be a piece of shit.
and if it isn't ligted up like a christmastree the game is broken
Another stupidly unbalanced ship. It has like 150k effective hp - the Yamato has 180k at tier 10.
Just another pay to win ship.
its a free XP ship like missouri
And you need to spend money to get it, no way in hell you'll get it with a free account.
Newhoped 375k free exp is doable in a free account, just get the most from free premium that levelling gives you and play alot.
Donny Whisnu I have Unicum level stats and 2.2k battles played and I've never saved up that much free xp. Sure, its doable if you start saving early on, but for most people its not something theyre willing to put the immense amount of time into.
2.1k games with a 55% win ratio and barely hit 200k free xp, and thats with a 50k super container.
So shut the fuck up.
30 sec of unskippable commerce, i dont like!! sorry not watching anymore
