i still can't believe you go to so much effort to film. it's amazing and such a joy to watch. must take you longer to edit than to build the car. thank you from Australia 👌
Another Aussie, drinking Yorkshire tea and waiting for the temp to get over 0. And what a great way to do it. Love your work, sir. A real pleasure to watch!
Moving the workpiece is an undervalued and often overlooked “skill.” Being creative enough to literally use the entire building structure to pull it off...next level. I hope you enjoy proving to yourself every month that you’ve got a rad brain, George. Awesome as always.
This was one of your most satisfying videos to date. The little touches were fantastic, and your attention to detail and commitment to doing it right is just glorious for someone with a (relatively) low amount of practical experience. You absolutely fucking nailed it
George. You just reminded me why it's worth putting the effort in to a practical job to get it right. I haven't been fucking it up. I've been learning the tools and materials. If it's not right I'll bloody do it again better and take pride in how much time I've put into it. Nice one.
Patrons come and go, but I'll be working hard to bring more interesting content on both sides of the support line and build a little army! Thanks tinMan 🍻
George, I can't understand why you don't have 1M+ subscribers by now, but I really hope it keeps building for you. You've been an inspiration for me to get off my own ass and start fixing my rusty '95 BMW E34. Living in an apartment, I was "waiting for the right moment" to start but you encouraged me and I found a way. Keep up the good work and many many thanks!
100k 'never miss an upload' subs would make it all comfy Niall, that's my task to figure out, but in the meantime knowing the vids give encouragement is a big motivator for me. Thanks man :)
I was supposed to be working, but the notification popped up and I started to watch, couldn't stop, this is an amazing series! Cheers from your Australian fans!
I thought i hadnt seen a video in a while, so searched you and realised i'd missed on, little bonus. Hopefully a shorted wait until the next time! Love your pipe!
You’ve done the impossible. My partner who hates every car, building or woodworking video I watch on TH-cam said “no leave it on, I was watching that”. Amazing 😁
Sat there talking to myself in disbelief of how amazing everything is turning out and the beautiful editing, the welding bit where it got all trippy and psychedelic to the beat... omg. Absolutely incredible 👏
oh, the things i forget to watch when on holidays. Fantastic as always George, now come to Canada and show me all your secrets so I can do my car too :) hehe
Great work all round. The obvious need for an alternative to stop motion for the welding is an interesting challenge. But I'm sure you're up to it. Stay stuck in, and good luck.😃
George, another top video. Now you've got a die grinder get some spira-bands ( sandpaper cones/rolls) you can then stop earlier with the carbide and polish out to a super finish and avoid thinning the metal.
Fantastic better and better your quality of work brilliant I've stopped watching other shows on tv they just don't have your quality keep up the excellent work John
Absolute masterpiece of reconstruction on the spring seats. I have a tip that has worked for me when sandwiching two plates together. Feather the new steel with a propane or mapp gas torch to make sure it's completely free of moisture. After that, no gapped stitch welds, make sure that all exposed edges are 100% welded. On the outside of the arms there is a factory weld gap where the two plates meet. This is where moisture will be introduced between the plates. Not likely yet as the paint will seal the gap for quite a while and weld heat on the small pieces probably evaporated any moisture in the steel. When thinking about why manufacturers do not completely weld seams it is to reduce the chances of distortion and save the additional time required to go back over the same areas after the initial beads have cooled. Seam sealer does a good enough job especially in modern cars. Restoration of older cars shows either inferior seam sealer or none at all.
yes the four up mirrored welding with Sparks is artistic and creative thanks. video is more about the precision and detail work needed for that suspension metal then about your fun grinding tool.
Absolutely loving all of your videos! Had a big binge the other day. They never get old and they work you put into them is pure quality, much like your builds are. Thank you for creating such amazing content, you're a legend!
It kinda saddens me that i kinda take the stop motion welds for granted nowadays, only when you mentioned it going wrong my brain was kinda like: oh yeah thats right, this is really a lot of efford... Anyways great job, also with all the jigs and that, the pneumatic tools can really be a lifesaver, just remember to wear ear protection! Also if someone were to watch these videos high theyd be trippin badly at the end haha
Just binge watched the whole series after it being recommended by a friend. Awesome series and can’t wait for to see the Lotus progressing but where’s George gone? Not posted since May so hope everything’s ok.
Wow mate - you are the next level in restoring cars! My Elite resto has stalled for lack of funds - hoping to return to it when funds allow and also return to supporting you on Patreon at some point soon. Utterly inspirational - if a little OCD scary lol. Keep it up
@@soupclassicmotoring All good thanks mate. Looking at the Elite as a retirement project now (5 yrs lol) - it isn't going anywhere - you see less and less of them around or for sale but values and general appreciation of the model remains poor. I have Esprit envy as I simply don't fit in one. Take care!
loving the photography, Python references and experimental 4 screen welding...all very poetic...love the build and your tenacity and focus on perfect perfection...keep going...this is truly inspirational
Man, I am so admirative of your work and your patience ! You are so lucky to have a space where you can work on this project at your own rythm ! Cheers from Belgium !
THANKS FOR THE VIDEO!! I have been patch welding my resto project and there is one Pesky little weld I cannot get to. I was looking for a sanding bit but I think i'll go pick one of these up now!
Hey mate. Love your work, great videos. Vertical down welds are much easier and neater than vertical up when it comes to MIG welding. They're no where near as strong, when an up is done right. However, for chassis work, they are more than sufficient. Just my 2 cents.
Between the captive nuts and perfect pipe, Soup and Binky are setting the innuendo bar pretty high.
Couldn't leave it at half a bar, just wouldn't be right.
It's a thrill to watch notifications of either channel pop up.
George you beautiful bastard. The jig to put that pipe in the perfect position was so satisfying, and your welds are looking better by the week.
i still can't believe you go to so much effort to film. it's amazing and such a joy to watch. must take you longer to edit than to build the car. thank you from Australia 👌
Yes, amazing! And such a pleasure to watch. It's perfect.
Another Aussie, drinking Yorkshire tea and waiting for the temp to get over 0. And what a great way to do it. Love your work, sir. A real pleasure to watch!
The filming itself is so time-consuming.
The Logo in the welding flash (10:45) was "Spot On".
Yeah! I did a double take on that one... "Did I see what I think I saw?!?" :P
Brilliant! :D I missed that as I wasn't looking into the flash.
I had to go back and check it wasn't a ghost
I did NOT see that the first time. Thanks for sharing!
Thank God you guys saw it too. For a moment i thought i would have to give up taking LSD while watching Georges videos.
Yes! Time to kick back and watch the best car restoring youtuber.
Moving the workpiece is an undervalued and often overlooked “skill.” Being creative enough to literally use the entire building structure to pull it off...next level. I hope you enjoy proving to yourself every month that you’ve got a rad brain, George. Awesome as always.
@10m45s: The famous petrol pump handle icon in the glowing weld. :-) !! Do I win a prize ? LOL.
This was one of your most satisfying videos to date. The little touches were fantastic, and your attention to detail and commitment to doing it right is just glorious for someone with a (relatively) low amount of practical experience. You absolutely fucking nailed it
The stop motion, hypnotic. Those dulcet tones, relaxing.
The work, absolutely first rate.
Well done on another superb episode George.
I know those animated portions are a ton of work....please keep doing them, so incredible.
George. You just reminded me why it's worth putting the effort in to a practical job to get it right. I haven't been fucking it up. I've been learning the tools and materials. If it's not right I'll bloody do it again better and take pride in how much time I've put into it. Nice one.
It’s really awesome to see the list of Patreon supporters growing with every video 🥰
Patrons come and go, but I'll be working hard to bring more interesting content on both sides of the support line and build a little army! Thanks tinMan 🍻

That repair is truly impressive. Who doesn't love a good pipe? Ooh errr missus.
You can see yourself how your Welding improved-so well done 👍
Soup, patiently waiting but just wondering when we might see the next installment ?
Impressive episode George. Your welding has come on leaps & bounds. Great repair skills!
I was supposed to be working, but the notification popped up and I started to watch, couldn't stop, this is an amazing series! Cheers from your Australian fans!
Blown away once again by your camera work and editing skillz. Thanks for sharing.👍
I didn’t think the production in your videos could get any better but damn I was wrong.
I thought i hadnt seen a video in a while, so searched you and realised i'd missed on, little bonus. Hopefully a shorted wait until the next time! Love your pipe!
Best camera work on youtube. I like the Soup logo Easter egg in the weld flash!
Best chill and fabrication channel in the world. George is killing it
I usually watch your videos day one. Somehow I missed this one. As always a great video.
Not sure about the notification system here at all these days
“ I call this one… The Pickle “ 😂
Another criminally underrated channel! Love your work man!
For those who don't know check out Jethros channel, for more top notch resto work!
Amazing seeing you here
You’ve done the impossible. My partner who hates every car, building or woodworking video I watch on TH-cam said “no leave it on, I was watching that”. Amazing 😁
Fist in the air for us small time guys toughing it out! Sláinte Jethro 🍻
Sat there talking to myself in disbelief of how amazing everything is turning out and the beautiful editing, the welding bit where it got all trippy and psychedelic to the beat... omg. Absolutely incredible 👏
Wow have you become a good welder. Those welds look perfect. Your Lotus is coming right along, I am enjoying the journey.
oh, the things i forget to watch when on holidays. Fantastic as always George, now come to Canada and show me all your secrets so I can do my car too :) hehe
Oooh, those welds, nice work George!
I can’t believe you I’d stop motion drilling a hole 😂 very good video you made a nice job of the chassis fair play. 👍
A fab bit of fab plus some top tunage 👌
You must be really happy with how your welding has come along. It's looking great.
Great work all round. The obvious need for an alternative to stop motion for the welding is an interesting challenge. But I'm sure you're up to it. Stay stuck in, and good luck.😃
Your welding skills are awesome - going around those pipes ain't easy.
George, another top video. Now you've got a die grinder get some spira-bands ( sandpaper cones/rolls) you can then stop earlier with the carbide and polish out to a super finish and avoid thinning the metal.
Wondered about that, great intel Brian thanks!
What a treat for a Tuesday
Time to tune up the Epiphone and crack a tin. Another wonderful video you're an artist mate, slainte.
Bit o'riffin' at the beginning is nice now and then 🤘🏼😎
Awesome - real progress is happening! Welds are looking sweet.
Thanks George....now I own another die grinder....and carbide bits....
Fantastic better and better your quality of work brilliant I've stopped watching other shows on tv they just don't have your quality keep up the excellent work
John
Been fighting a broken head bolt stuck in the block for a week now ,so instead of being frustrated about that im watching this.
this video is a paradise for my eyes

Trippy welding montage for the win!

Cheers Marcus, always worried the music will get repetitive for someone watching back to back. Did you get sick of it?

I have been following you for a year
I like your work very much
I want a job for a Porsche 911 in the future
This is so relaxing to watch, love it!

Ah, what a nice episode :) And that spring seat looks mint George! :D
Just binge watched the whole series after it being recommended by a friend. Awesome series and can’t wait for to see the Lotus progressing but where’s George gone? Not posted since May so hope everything’s ok.
Man the editing is just genius. Love it
I love watching your videos.....for me the best thing on youtube.
Solid piece of work - and yeah , lotus chassis I top shelf too 👍🏼👍🏼
Brilliant work, as usual. A good way of clearing bulk steel shavings is to use a magnet :)
Perfect storytelling. Fantastic filming. Great craftsmanship. I love your videos!
Ah good, another session of arcs, sparks and poetry!
Wow mate - you are the next level in restoring cars! My Elite resto has stalled for lack of funds - hoping to return to it when funds allow and also return to supporting you on Patreon at some point soon. Utterly inspirational - if a little OCD scary lol. Keep it up
What's up Ant! I've become more lustful of the Elite and jealous of you that you have one. Don't sweat the patron thing, just good to see you here :)

seeing the weld distortion @ 6.36 when you welded up the side insert piece was quite impressif.... braket comes right up a mil or two
HA the soup logo on the weld flash was nice
Brilliant attention to detail. Amazing work.
loving the photography, Python references and experimental 4 screen welding...all very poetic...love the build and your tenacity and focus on perfect perfection...keep going...this is truly inspirational
Art, passion, craftsmanship... Love your videos. It always motivates me to keep on going with my own project and keep an eye on the little details.
The welding you did on that bit of pipe looks superb. The factory never did it that well. :)
Yeah, they were built pretty poorly. But that's bespoke engineering.
Fascinating fabrication work! Really inspiring. Thanks!
Its been great seeing your welding improve over the course of these videos!
Looks phenomenal! That’s certainly a repair to be proud of, and very nice looking welds, too.
Man, I am so admirative of your work and your patience ! You are so lucky to have a space where you can work on this project at your own rythm ! Cheers from Belgium !
Todays video was very nice and relaxing and zen to watch:) thank you sir.
Used those tungsten bits to port some chinese ebay headers that weren't finished too well. Love those tungsten bits!
This is such a satisfying project to watch. Your attention to detail is amazing.
Great work George, quality filming and workmanship 👍
This is simply art! Not only your work, but the content you produce, too!
Mesmerising as usual, never could I imagine being in awe of welding! Keep it up, loving it!
Well done, one major repair managed well
Nice one George 👏

Outstanding editing! Thank you!
Great intro on this vid, George!
I must say, I get quite excited when a new soup episode comes out 😁
Outstanding GK👏👏👏
I love when the invisible man steps in to give a hand. Top drawer content by the way !
I look forward to each new episode. Oh and really loved the four way reflection of welding.
a car w/o cup holders is a true classic...btw..i am an expert one handed driver with my coffee too!
THANKS FOR THE VIDEO!! I have been patch welding my resto project and there is one Pesky little weld I cannot get to. I was looking for a sanding bit but I think i'll go pick one of these up now!
Very handy!
