Just test drove the 530e this afternoon (6/21/18). Was so impressed that I gave a deposit and will have my car in about 3 months or so. I wanted air cooled seats option, hence the order had to be placed ... and I’ll be getting a 2019 model which they said production starts mid July. For me, it’s worth the wait! So, glad I came across your presentation. 😉

I get 30 and sometimes a little more in the Volvo XC90 T8. I'm not a heavy footed person nor do I drive long distances personally so I can go for months with no gas station visits. This is the way I chose to drive this car.
Anti Petrolhead that's a great car, and you're right it definitely pays to take it easy on the gas pedal
*Your Petrol Will be **_stale_** when you might need it, it deteriorates over time and turns to glue to clog up your injectors and fuel system.*
You easily could get more battery mileage, you rode the car on full battery mode but in Comfort mode, should have tried Eco Pro Individual with 97% of efficiency.
Kind of varies, my car started with range 15, then 18, sometimes 20 and the max it has been 22.

I didn't as I charge it overnight (takes 10-12 hours @ low) and I can charge it at work in 2 hours for 1USD. I would like to wait and see how expensive the wireless charger is.

My commute to work is 11 miles each way. I get about 19/20 miles on full electric. I'm a bit disappointed with this as BMW stated 29 miles range.
i live in a house and thinking about getting this car. My commute to work is 11 miles back and fourth. If i plug it inn every night, in essence i will never use gas correct?
same here, the 29 miles range for max eDrive is not true at all... It is only 32km which is 19 miles max eDrive range till the battery is totally drained.
I leased two 2016 528i. The other 528i is heavier and has 20 inches tires. It looks like 7 series. I love it. The other 528i 16 does not drive as good as the other car. It’s hard to drive aggressively with this car. I will be returning this 5 series in 3 week of May 2019. I am trying to see which is better between S550e hybrid or 530e Iperformance. The S550e is hard to find as I am going to buy a use one whereas the 530e has 2019 lesser price than the used S550e. Any recommendations will be appreciated. Or I can go for Tesla my last options. It just that I love the way the bmw drives.

In terms of acceleration, is this faster than 330e? I just realize that 530e has the same engine as 330e. However, 530e is a lot heavier (I think at least 300kg) than 330e, and BMW didn't tune the engine in 530e to be more powerful than that of 330e, so I think 530e would be a lot slower.
Nerdy S. I can tell you don’t own a bmw. 330 and 530 are always as fast as each other
We own the 330e and just had a 530e loaner and the 530 is just as peppy. Just bigger and more luxurious inside comparatively

Is this the 12 kw battery?
Do you have to plug in and charge it? Or is it similar to the prius where you can put just put in gas and the gas engine will charge the battery itself?
You can drive it without ever plugging it in. The alternator and the regenerative braking will help to charge the battery. However I don’t think you can get a full charge without plugging it in.
In battery control mode, where you charge the battery by driving using only petrol, you can charge it to 100% without plugging it in.
@@TheTestDrive I've driven one on a long trip (>200 miles). The gasoline engine kicks in after the battery is completely depleted to 0%, but I never had the battery go above 5% on a recharge from the alternator & regen braking...
Max E Drive do not allow any gasoline to be used with fast acceleration until you use all batteries
If I never plan on charging this thing (Can get one for a deal right now cheaper than other models) can it function normally?
Of course.
You need to charge this everyday or before every journey if you want to make use of it fully.

5:20 mins Why do you use Google maps to calculate your distance when you could use odometer? Side note: I could not detach the plug on my new 530e. Turns out the car has to be unlocked to removed the charging cable..duh!

Been driving this car now a few weeks not getting a lot of miles from the charge it’s just so confusing even if I don’t drive it on electric it’s still losing power I always thought it charges as it driving

During Max E-Drive (with the engine off), were you able to use the air conditioning or heater?
TheAnonoomoose I was able to use the a/c yes. It blows a little weaker but it works.
My dad might get one, he would use gas and barely use electric- maybe when I beg him too

Your information is completely wrong for the BMW 530e! I have 2018 one and forget about it 30 miles battery range… whatever it is it’s maximum 18 miles range
Is that with or without a/c? Because you can pre heat and leave with a warm cabin to save electricity because you don’t need to use the a/c then
