  • The Doc’s “traveling store” holds a transmitter that sends info to a gang of outlaws.
The show starred Roy Rogers as a ranch owner, Dale Evans as the proprietress of the Eureka Café and Hotel in fictional Mineral City, and Pat Brady as Roy’s sidekick and Dale's cook. Brady's Jeep Nellybelle at times had a mind of her own and sped away driverless with Brady in frantic pursuit on foot. Animal stars were Roy's Palomino horse Trigger and his German Shepherd Bullet, the "Wonder Dog".
As with many other Western films of the 1930s-1950s, the Roy Rogers Show featured cowboys and cowgirls riding horses and carrying six-shooters, but unlike traditional westerns, the series had a contemporary setting with automobiles, telephones, and electric lighting. No attempt was made in the scripts to explain or justify this strange amalgamation of 19th-century characters with 20th-century technology. Typical episodes followed the stars as they rescued the weak and helpless from the clutches of dishonest lawmen, con artists, bank robbers, claim jumpers, rustlers, and other "bad guys." In addition to traditional Western plot themes such as cattle rustling and bank robberies, the program featured more contemporary topics, including gun safety and conservation of natural resources. "Many of the shows expressed a moral, and several preached a Christian message."
The show received an Emmy nomination in 1955 for Best Western or Adventure Series, but it lost out to the syndicated Stories of the Century, an anthology series starring and narrated by Jim Davis. The series finished #27 in the Nielsen ratings for the 1951-1952 season and #30 for 1954-1955.

Another Peggy Stewart appearance. How 'bout that? Plus the first Harry Harvey role, before he became the sheriff of whatever county Mineral City is in. Yep, another good one!

the outlaws wear baggy cowboy duds while Roy has sleek , fancier outfits , yet the bad guys never steal his nicer looking outfit for themselves . If not his clothes , at least his guns & gun leathers and fancy boots.

That outfit at the end was an unusual sight for this show. Roy always wore the same plaid shirt so that already shot riding scenes (and other things) could be inserted into any show. Besides....what self-respecting outlaw would steal another man's clothes when they could just rob a bank and buy new ones?

@@mjemigh3304 They are criminals ? If they're outlaws ; they have no self respect if they did , they wouldn't be criminal ! They don't believe in improving their clothing choice ? Their are numerous women in Westerns who steal sleek & fancy cowboy outfits for themselves to wear and they are now transvestites ; now is that normal ? I guess that aren't self respecting outlaws ? Examples : Jane Russell in Son of Paleface & Barbara Rhoades in the Shakiest Gun in The West.

The convenience ! They are outlaws ; why not do both ? There is no honor among thieves ! Royu's designer outfit is not readily available at the menswear shop .@@mjemigh3304

According to this episode script; they are taking Roy to a mine shaft to throw him down to his death ; a dead/ murdered man doesn't need clothes but live outlaws would !@@mjemigh3304

@@mjemigh3304 According to the script; they were going to kill Roy then throw his body down a mine shaft; no honor among thieves, especially murderers ! So stealing his fancy duds makes complete sense; what waste his fancy duds ? Roy can't use them anymore !
