- Pasatono Orquesta has focused its interest and dedication to research, perform, compose, and promote the musical Mixtec culture. After a long journey of many years of exploration throughout the states of Guerrero, Puebla, and Oaxaca, plus the transnational community, Pasatono has been nourished by the guardians of the cloud people’s music “living treasures”: luthiers, bass players, banjo players, violinists, composers, among others who possess a great knowledge of their musical culture.

The 2024 Smithsonian Folklife Festival program "Indigenous Voices of the Americas" honors the twentieth anniversary of the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, DC, and celebrates Indigenous creative expression across the Western Hemisphere. It featured more than 250 participants representing 60 Indigenous nations in ten countries. The Festival was co-presented by the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage, the National Museum of the American Indian, and the National Park Service.
