    I love what if modelling!
    Any old bludger can follow instructions and end up with a kit that is identical to thousands of others.
    My most recent project was to build an Israeli Chieftain tank circa 1982, assuming the UK hadn't dropped their bottle in 1970 when about to supply them to Israel.
    I chopped out the old Tamiya engine deck and replaced it with that of an Italeri M60 then grafted on the rear turret of a Tamiya Mk 1 Merkava to the Tamiya turret front then made and fitted my rendition of Blazer ERA all over it, finished with fitting Israeli paraphernalia such as antennas , smoke dischargers and a million MG's.
    Thoroughly enjoyed it.
    I've yet to try an aircraft what if because the finish has to be so much more exacting and precise to sell the idea of authenticity whereas on an AFV there are lots of cheats that can be cunningly deployed.

      My memory is remiss, I once stuck an LA7 engine on an IL2 and made like Soviet Russia and the west were besties during WW2 and stuffed otherwise empty returning lend lease merchant ships with IL2's for Normandy and thereafter but we wanted a tougher radial engine on our ground attack version of the IL2 so Stalin obliged us.
      I finished it in standard RAF Typhoon camouflage and markings complete with D DAY stripes.

    I like the "what if" approach. I'm not skilled enough to do it myself so I appreciate the efforts of those who are. One tiny little niggle, and I know it's not really relevant, but the second 't' in pitot is silent. It's pronounced 'peet oh'.

    Manufacturers often get it wrong for model railways too (I'm not speaking of mass production compromises either).
    The Vulcan became low level to avoid new long range Soviet tech. So making them more stealthy would be an interesting concept. The Horton HO229 would be a good option to model a stealth Vulcan on. From memory didn't the Vulcan and the Victor have Operation Surgeon ex Nazi scientists have an input on both aircraft.
    An exoatmospheric Avro Arrow (MK3?) would be cool it was on the books until knobled by the yanks. AVRO was our skunk works.

      Yes AVRO was although Hsndley Page got some excellent aerodynamics on the Victor and one fair the Valiant Wasn’t terrible by any standard.
      I think the delta wing research 🧐 had some roots there - yes the Horton was well ahead of its time- I’ve done a what if on their big bomber one :)
      I may still do the Vulcan B.4 :) it’s being considered in my head lol 😂

    Yes the F111 in SAC Scheme looked very nice indeed and when given the chance to Pilot the EF111 Raven it was a Very good paint scheme for the type as opposed Pilots say it was so dam hard to get a visual on it because of that Dusty Blue scheme.
    I love the Vulcan Bomber and the Victor, Not a huge favourite of the Valiant except for the Chrysler V8 Charger Version.
    You have a Genuine Talent as I outlined in the Previous Text which I think would put many professional model makers to the sword, Never listen to tripe from others about you should have done this or that as your taking away character from the model, What a load of Rubbish, If anything your giving such Older Kits a rebirth in the Design Facets and making them look a tangible asset.
    Your Drawing Skills are the only susceptible things, I had to learn Technical Drawing College and that I then added to my Engineering Degrees as an Adjunct Major Architecture Design Upgrade Course in Tech. Drawing etc.
    But like I said we do have the Modern bits and pieces available to aid Model making in Sprue, 3D Printed Sheets, Paints, Airbrush and Tooling but it's not that much good to you unless you have the Talent.
    Surprised your not involved with Government Model Making concerns as an Architectural Model Maker, The Talent is there in the Collective Thousands

      What are the b2 style end of wing control split flap things? Are they still called airlerons?

    • @johnwoodall3791
      @johnwoodall3791 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @dtrain1634
      They are the Rudders, The Aircraft has Primary Ailerons and Secondary Ailerons along the Trailing edge of the wings with the Rudders right on both left and right wing tips and inadvertantly or by actual design in other words they act as a speed break as well pretty much like the Split Rudder used to do on the Space Shuttle.
      Their the Inboard Ailerons, The Secondary Outboard Ailerons and the Wing Tip Rudders all combining to Give the Pilots Max control of the plane, A very unique Aircraft to which end the B21 Raider has some Shocks in store in operational mode I think we will find ....
