New to the climber world and put it to use this hunting season. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxlQ7TDIrnnSXXbRgFFaxqwullRJJIuYAs I felt safe while climbing up and down a tree. It did take some time getting used to climbing and descending the tree. Once I figured it out I was comfortable going in climbing a tree knowing I was going to be up a tree quickly and most importantly quite not scaring every deer out of my area. I am 6’2” and 240 lbs, fit and comfort were great. I bow hunt and found no issues hunting from it. It is a little bulky to carry in and out of the woods vs some of the smaller open front climbers but I thought it was worth the bulk/weight due to ease of climbing (using the rail to sit on) and comfort for long sits.
Hi Chris, Thanks for the great video. I purchased a Summit Titan SD last Christmas and used it once during Coyote/Fox season here in NJ this past January. I had watched your video multiple times prior to my excursion. I was having a heck of a time trying to get the platform of the stand advanced up the tree on that first trip. The next day my arms were killing me. I just chalked it up to inexperience etc. I watched your videos again this past weekend, and ventured out yesterday for NJ's Bear/Deer season. Yes, I brought my stand. I finally figured out what I was doing wrong. I was advancing the upper portion of the stand too high, and not placing my "third-point-of-impact" on the forward bar to advance the platform. On the first excursion, I was using my arms, as if I were doing dips, At any rate, I was up the tree in no time yesterday. Followed all of your direction to the letter. Life is good. I found your video to be, and you mentioned it in your monologue, very much like military instruction. Did you serve? Got Bless!
I just got a summit titan sd yesterday. before buying it, i watched your videos, and i'll tell you what, if it wan't for your videos, i wouldn't have any clue how to use it. being my first climber, i didn't know what to do to get it up the tree. took me a little longer to get up the tree, but i know that i will get better with practice. these videos are pretty much the only ones out there that are worth watching. Thank you!
I noticed in comments some guys got used or second hand vipers. Just some safety tips. first, the models have changed - check all your welds to be sure there are no cracks - the first models had a different weld at the back of the seat, which they changed pretty quickly. Also, the cable safety clips changed a couple times, the first ones could be slid open easily. Keep those cables in shape! A combination of bare metal cables and the old style clip cost me pretty deeply - I fell. My fault for not keeping up on things. That cable came out when I was climbing down. Also - buy the stabilizer straps and wear a safety harness!!
I think I'll get the Field & Stream climber from Dicks. I've done some researching and haven't found anything negative about it. Other than the steel model for weight. In fact it receives praise from a few hunting forums. Plus it only costs $150 and weights 21 lbs.
Its 2017 and I'm preparing to use my summit stand for the 2nd season after I purchased it for over 300. The rubber on the cables have already peeled off and showing jagged metal. This appears to be a common problem and summits solution is to Charge you more money For another set of cables that will only last you One season. #customersevicefail #designflaw #deerhunt #2017
They also make the summit 180 and 180 max and also the sd in both of those, I like more room myself, im only 150lbs but I love my 180 max SD with the 180 seat with the body warmer pockets. Hunt safe!!!
@smith45acp it happens 8) i am 320 from the shower. even if you are not over 300, you have to figure in your gear.. on a cold day, i would bet someone weighing 250 would be hard presses not to cross the 300 limit.
The field and stream climbers I do not trust I was 22 feet up in a tree decending and I locked my top half and moved the safety harness and the clip on the harness came loose and I put my weight on the bottom half to refasten the safety cord and the bottom half fell out from under me the connector broke and sent me into the 0 degree swamp
Maybe to you Tahoe620... But for me it was / is not. I'm a bigger guy (300 lbs) & Did not know ANYTHNG about the Summit Goliath that was available. So w/ that said, keep your negative comments 2 yourself (You know, since NOT everyone is JUST like you) OR make YOUR OWN video & post it on here... Dumbass. Haters gonna hate. Anyway, I thought it was a great video! Thx 4 posting this!!!

3:12 "yeah guys I'm gonna climb up this tree that's 6-1/2 feet diameter real quick'
Great video. Where or how do you transport your backpack into the woods. Do you connect it to the stand? If so, how? Thanks.
+dhaase30 When you put the seat up, I store my back pack there before I secure the hooks. It is still cumbersome, but I manage.
Regarding the weight limit, I personally don't know anyone using a climber stand who weighs over 300 lbs! Not to say it never happens
@smith45acp it happens 8) i am 320 from the shower. even if you are not over 300, you have to figure in your gear.. on a cold day, i would bet someone weighing 250 would be hard presses not to cross the 300 limit.
What metal is the stand made of
would you recommend spending the extra money to get the aluminum or is the steel good enough? I am a big guy, 240lbs. Thanks
Aluminum is lighter
How do you carry a back pack with you, if you want to?
Thats the way i do it as well. I like the term, The Pursuit Method. I want to get a Mini Viper at 6'0 150 im afraid it may be to small.
Is that the classic or SD?
q pena q não vende no Brasil
bom dia meu amigo vc teria como mim fornecer o link de um desse o melhor que vc tiver

what a great stand....will never buy another....lighter and more durable than a lone wolf hang-on....

this is not made of alluminum your welder fabricator should be able to tell you that.
