Wow, that’s so interesting that a pink plant produced white flowers. Thank you for sharing. My mom bought me a white Rose of Sharon and I just harvested the seeds. I found your video because I want to be sure I am doing it correctly. I believe a bird brought me a purple Rose of Sharon because on randomly appeared near a tree where birds were nesting. I decided not to rake all the leaves or to mow every spot and it had been immensely rewarding because many different species of tree have been popping up from the bird droppings in those spots and even this rose of Sharon. I recommend doing that for sure btw. Just have to attract the birds with plenty of seed and be patient. Thanks again for the videos
These are so easy to grow my sister cut several cuttings for me from her Roses Of Sharon plants and each and every cutting sprouted and is now growing in my yard they're beautiful purple flowers.
Amazing! I just bought my first rose of Sharon and I’m in love with this plant. Now that I know I can grow it from seed or cuttings, I’m going to start! Thanks for the tips! :)
Great! you just love this plant so much, low maintenance with Beautiful blooms🌸, mine is in full bloom now. Glad that you liked the vid, Thank you so much!😊
Great video. I just brought some seeds home from my sons house today. We live in NW Ohio, so cold winters. Can I just put the seeds in the ground now since that’s how it happens naturally?
If you have more seeds you can try few in the ground now but store some seeds and put them in the ground in spring. For better results, always sprout the seeds in a four inch container and then transplant to the ground.
I had one of these die on me and noticed seedlings in my yard and successfully transferred them to pots so now I want to care for them so one day I can return it to the yard. Not sure how much root space they need so not sure when to transfer to bigger pots. you're accent is beautiful by the way 😉
Thanks for the info. It will be at least a yr or more before we know their color from the seeds. Great to know that cuttings will produce same color. I have 6 ROS cuttings & 5 seeds in the paper towel/plastic bag method of starting. Mine is a lavender double that only produces very few seeds. Hope to get some new ROS!
Also I noticed that the first year got a different color that have grown from seeds but following year produced the original color flowers as mother plant
I put some on my kitchen counter and they sprouted! Thank you so much for sharing. After they sprout, do I need to put them under the Sun immediately? I live in zone 7 so I don’t think they can get through the winter, but maybe I can put them on south facing window.
Usually after sprouting needs sun to make the seedling strong or else seedlings becomes leggy. If your weather is cold at least put near a window or under a white tube light that helps.
Hi. I heard something about possibly needing to freeze them first. I'm buying some off Etsy and was wondering if I should do anything special before I plant them?
Rose of Sharon is a very hardy hibiscus plant, just don’t trim in the winter when the stems could rot, I did that and most of my growth is coming from the bottom. Wish I remember this
Had some of the pods in my garage for two years and then split it open and the seeds weren't fuzzy ,but planted them anyway. Will they grow. Thanks, jim.
Hello Jim! Usually if the pods ripen on the plant has fuzzy seeds inside, that will give very good germination. Anyways you planted rt, let’s wait and check.
Ola! I think above message was in Spanish, I don’t know Spanish but I checked your message in google translator. Gracias! Thank you so much! Appreciate the support😊
How long does it take before they get flowers? I have seedlings from last year - it was late in the season and they only got to 5-6 inches tall. They are in ground now and wondering if I’ll see any blooms this year.
Hi Shilpa! You should see some blooms this year but more than blooms, please focus on the growth of the plant and establishing a strong root system. When did you put them in the ground? What place/zone are you located in?
Hello. Thank you for posting this. I am starting some seeds indoors...they came from a purple rose of sharon. So, did I understand correctly...they may not be the same color as the mother plant?
Iam still trying to figure out how half my purple Rose of sharon bush turned white with the purple center just like yours. Also in another corner of my garden suddenly appeared the white chiffon, not sure how this happens. But they are beautiful. Thank you for the video.
Oh, usually they sprout very easily, may be the seeds are not fully ripened. Did you take it from the opened pod, nice furry looking fully matured seeds?
I just harvested 1 Trillion seeds, three times, and dumped them all along my square acre property line. it's borderline a pest so I'm just embracing it now.

Yes, you would definitely get new plants. Easy to grow from cuttings as well and you get the same color flowers as mother plant.
Also I noticed that the first year got a different color that have grown from seeds but following year produced the original color flowers as mother plant

Do you poke holes in the starter cup on the counter
Yes. We have to make holes on the bottom for the drainage.

Can we do soft pruning.... like we do in regular variety.... I just planted Rose of Sharon ....
Yes, it is ideal to prune after the bloom season either in fall or early spring. Summer is their bloom time.
How long does it take before they get flowers? I have seedlings from last year - it was late in the season and they only got to 5-6 inches tall. They are in ground now and wondering if I’ll see any blooms this year.

Do u have to have potting soil to start fro seeds
Hi Robin! Either potting soil or seed starter would be a better choice. If the soil is light and airy, seeds can push easily to sprout.
Hello. Thank you for posting this. I am starting some seeds indoors...they came from a purple rose of sharon. So, did I understand correctly...they may not be the same color as the mother plant?
Hello Rodger. Yes. The first year I got white flowers and the second year the same plant, produced the true color as the mother plant.
I enjoyed the white blooms so much, very peaceful. Thanks for watching the vid.

I noticed the following year the same plant that got white flowers produced it’s true pink flowers😊 Thank you!

@@gardenworld3703 hi,I ordered from amazon its same like your seeds.
Hi Suja! Did you order Althea/Rose of Sharon seeds? These usually grow easily from cuttings as well.
@@gardenworld3703 ok I will do that.may i know your name pls.
Suni😊
Do you provide seeds or cutting.
Hi Vivek! If you are in the Houston area, you can certainly take some cuttings😊
When should I plant the seeds? (Fall, Spring)?
Hi. Depends on your garden zone. Fir Garden zone 9 and above fall is fine or else spring would be a better time.
@@gardenworld3703 I live in East Ohio
Is it going to have flowers in the 1st or 2nd year?
If you sow the seeds early in the season, you will get the flowers same year.
I just harvested 1 Trillion seeds, three times, and dumped them all along my square acre property line. it's borderline a pest so I'm just embracing it now.
