The 1980 Embassy World Indoor Bowls Championship was held at the Coatbridge indoor bowling club, North Lanarkshire, Scotland, from 25 Feb - 2 Mar 1980.

David Bryant won his second consecutive title beating Philip Chok in the final.
RIP. What a player he was!
Sorry to hear of David Bryant's passing, I met him many times when the World v Bowls was at Coatbridge, he was always good at talking to the young ones, I remember we had taken one of the young boys from our club and when he saw David he was in awe when he came over to speak to us, he couldn't believe how friendly he was x
40 odd years watching a video clip of the master, he is now in heaven, looking down on us who are trying to master the game of bowls on rinks that are getting faster, thank you David even though my game is a disaster!
Sadly news about David Bryan passed away RIP legend.

Sad to learn of David's passing. Always laughed at his leg action, but such a highly skilled player. RIP.
Legend, I was only 11 but always used to watch the bowls even though I was an aspiring rugby league player, total contrast in physical but lots of similarities in the mental and tactical.
David was a superb player, so very skilful and tactically very shrewd
Great come back by Chok..he certainly gave Bryant a run for his money..great final, RIP David you were/still are a legend sir!

I live not too far from Coatbridge used to be a member at the nearby Coatdyke outdoor bowling club junior section back when i was 10,
A "Toucher" can even come off other bowls on it's way to the Jack(or Kitty) and still be a toucher!
It's crazy how slow these old indoor rinks are

I trying to work out who are the commentators. One sounds like Peter West, a cricket commentator at the time. They sound familiar.

Nothing to do with fous. It looks like a second or third generation copy of a VHS video and definition is lost with each copy.
