      Hello,
      You are very welcome, I am glad to be able to help. This was the reason I started my channel. I remember my first few villages, I learned everything the hard way. Once I got a little better, I thought “other people may have the same issues I did”. From there, the channel was born. With that said, it is truly my pleasure that you are getting from the channel exactly what I had hoped for. To offer help and inspiration so we can all create our best villages.
      The Dickens series is so beautiful. I love that time period and all of the accessories that go along with it. Have you tried your local Goodwill for village pieces? They typically always have them in July for Christmas in July. They also bring them back out in October. I also shop at ehobbytools.com for my village pieces. They have the cheapest prices I can find for new pieces. They only sell Lemax pieces, but there are awesome accessories you can get there to go along with your Dickens village.
      Take care and talk soon! 😄

    Hi Miriam. I tried using the hot wire to cut some stairs on styrofoam. You make it look so easy but its actually quiite tricky. You certainly need to have a steady hand. And sometimes the styrofoam kind of goes a different way but i had so much fun. I love your videos. From Australia. Xx

    Hi Miriam! After watching all these vidoes using styrofoam, I'm definitely going to have to try my hand at it next year. Aside from making some mountains, I haven't tried anything else, but you're so inspiring and make it look so easy. I figure, why not.
    Still working on my tablescape and mantle. Making progress but seems to take me a long time to get my display just right. Tree is sitting in living room waiting to be put together. I picked up a small pre-lit tree at Walmart last week. I have two other trees but both have to put together row by row with lights added and that's more time that I just don't seem to have. Smaller and pre-lit will definitely be a time saver. Mom gave me an assortment of beaded ornaments that she had. I think simplicity is key this year. The sooner completed, the longer that it can be enjoyed.
    As always, your videos are fun and informative. Thank you for continuing to share and gift us with so many tips and tricks. Hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Peace and Blessings to you and yours.

    • @MiriamsManner
      @MiriamsManner  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Lloyd,
      I hope you do try your hand at building something with styrofoam. I have a feeling you will be great at it. Just seeing what you already do with your village is amazing. I think you will have a natural eye for making platforms.
      I understand what you mean on the tablescape and mantle. I have to have a vision in my mind of what I want to see before I can put it together. What helps me is laying out the pieces that I want to use and then seeing them arranged different ways until the lightbulb goes off. 😂😂
      I had a tree like that for many years that had to be put together branch my branch and string with lights. I would take me about 2 hours just to put it together. I finally replaced that tree last year so now all my trees and prelit and easy to assemble. Sometimes you have to go for convenience. Especially when we put together such large Christmas displays throughout the entire house.
      Thank for much for watching and your support. Tell Mom I said hello. Talk soon! ☺️

    Also I would love to see a video of the different products you use and where you might purchase them at. With village items being so expensive, it helps to save on being able to create platforms and mountains etc. I noticed that you sometimes use prepackaged Styrofoam, not sure if you are aware, but menards sells 4ft x 8ft sheet of different size Styrofoam dirt cheap and can be cut to what size you need with the tools you already have or by making a hot wire table to cut the bigger pieces, thanks for all you do and hope I can learn from you in creating a huge village

    • @MiriamsManner
      @MiriamsManner  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello again, 😄
      Yes, I buy the same 4 x 8 sheet from sheet of styrofoam from Lowe’s. What you saw me using in that video I got out of a package. I save large pieces of foam so I don’t have to buy any or so much when I’m ready to create something.
      Your village must fill up a whole room. What are the dimensions of your table base? Do you leave it up all year round?

    Hello - This video answered several questions for me. We have a huge village that is assembled to represent London and then the surrounding countryside. We have tried to stay true to what the terrain whould have looked like in Charles Dickens time which means very few platforms. Now I've gotten inspiration from you that the platforms don't necessarily have to be tall, but just raise up the buildings in the back row 2-3" so they can be more easily seen. My question is - have you ever make a train tunnel? We added an HO train a couple of years ago and our countryside is crying out for a tunnel for the train but I'm not sure where to start. Any advice would be appreciated.

      Hello Robert, I have done a simple train tunnel set up for my daughter. I have built several train tunnels in the past but that was before I started my channel. I know it is something I will do in depth one of these years because I haven’t built a permanent piece for my train yet. In the meantime, maybe this video below will offer you inspiration on how you can create a simple and easy one.

    Hi! I just discovered you and I love your Christmas village settings. Since I was a little girl I wanted to have in my house a display with a train an all. I am 45 and I just began three years ago collecting buildings and pieces. I have been setting the little town under my Christmas tree which I love. However, I realize that it is difficult to appreciate the details when all the pieces are on the floor. For next year I would like to set it up on a table, but my question is where do I start? How big the table should be etc. Do you have a video where you show how you set up your table display? I would really appreciate it. I know this 2020 is gone, but I also want to start purchasing materials and items since it becomes really expensive if one wants to do it at once. I would appreciate your response. Happy New year to you.

      Hello and thank you for your compliment. If you directly to my channel and click on playlist then click on “all things Christmas” I have 3 Christmas village quick tip videos. These videos will be a great place for you to start getting various ideas for your table displays.
      Do you know where you want to do a table display next year? That will help you figure out what size table or base to get. A tip that I would have for you is figure out how much space you have to display your village and your layout before you buy too many additional pieces. That way you won’t overbuy and have unused pieces. 😁
      If you have any other specific questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. I would love to help where I can.
      Happy new year!

      Hey Julian,
      I have made some of my trees as well as some of my roads. The street lamps I purchase from ehobbytools.com. They sell the Lemax products.

      Hello Karina,
      Thank you so much!!
      I have attached a link to my Christmas village quick tip #2 video. In he description box of this video is a link to the styrofoam I buy.
      Also, I save foam from large packages, especially TV and furniture packages. My family and close friends are also on styrofoam duty. 😂😂 If they get a large piece, they save it for me since I am always building something.

      Hey Debi,
      Good to hear from you again. I am so bad with all this new technology. (I’m really behind the times 😂😂). I do not have a page set up yet. I was going to set up an Instagram so we could all share. I need to get on that sooner than later.

    Where do you buy your houses and accessories for your creations?

    • @MiriamsManner
      @MiriamsManner  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Cyndi,
      I buy my houses from all over. I have bought them from Michaels, ehobbytools.com, offer up, and goodwill. I pretty much get all my figurines and accessories from ehobbytools.com but I have also purchased some at Walmart and Michaels. I buy trees and I make my own trees. I also use small floral stems for bushes and trees.
