When they came back in the fall there would be plenty of stale bread in the fridge just waiting to become bread pudding. She made a wonderful rice pudding too, I never learned her secrets because both those recipes were in her head. After I married, my mother in law & my husband bath raved over her bread & rice puddings. Almost every time we ate together at my mother’s, my mother in law would request rice pudding for dessert.

I have a panettone in the pantry, the eggnog sounds delicious! I do like raisins, dates and more dried fruit. I can put in what I want since my husband hates it! It’s a texture thing

Looks good. I used to have a bread pudding recipe called the Biltmore Bread Pudding. It was delicious but I lost it. I believe what you called a thickener is called roux. ❤️

We use stale bread for this to use it up and we butter the bread.
