But there is a guy from here called Ryan Creech who has also recorded two good marathon times. But none as fast as scullys 2.11 in Dublin but based on points I think Ryan is a little ahead of scully. That being said I think scully could a should most defo get the Nod because creech could represent again in 4 more years as he's only 31 and this could be scullys last chance but I still think scully is ate best Marathon Runner on his day

So if it makes you feel better you make my life better and not many people can say that they help so many people especially not even knowing them and expecting nothing in return.

All that to say, 3 m 50 s in, I have paused the video to write this. I love the raw honesty and vulnerability of putting this out there and wearing your heart on your sleeve. Real authentic stuff is so refreshing as so much of the content solely focuses on the highs and never addresses the lows we all face as runners, both physically, mentally and emotionally. Subscribed, and I look forward to finishing this video and watching others. Rest and recover.

I was really rooting for you to qualify for the Olympics - but know that you’ve achieved so much more than most Olympians even if you haven’t. It is *incredibly* difficult to qualify for the Olympics this year and you set yourself a monumental goal. Munyao and Bekele aren’t shoe-ins; the US might only have two men going. I know this because, in following your journey, I learned about what it takes to qualify. Which brings me to a broader point. That silver play button represents 100,000 lives you’ve impacted and shared your love of running with. Almost nobody at the start line in Paris will be able to say that.

Thanks for your brutal honesty. You’re not only a great elite runner but more importantly an elite human being. The way you’re helping so many people out here is more precious than any Olympics, world records or championships. You’re doing more for this sport than any other marathon champion. You should be proud of it and we should be thankful to you. For most of us you’re the real champion no matter what time you did in London. 👏👏👏

Stephen, I saw you at mile 9 just after you crossed a mini roundabout (I Was another "go on Scully" shout) but it struck me how alone you were and the pressure or stress written across your facial expression. I was concerned for you. Your honesty and vulnerability in this video sets you apart as a winner, a model for us all. Bummed you haven't reached your goal but you've transcended that because you're genuinely in touch with how you feel, something most of us will never be able to recognise and articulate so well. Do what;''s right for you and you win the race that really matters.

I appreciate how vulnerable you may be feeling at the moment and I feel for you. Having completed London this week I personally will be looking at mixing up running through the summer with some fell running and trail running just so I can decompress. I hope you find your enjoyment once again but I would suggest stripping the running back to basics (Rocky style). Some of the great runners in the past kept it simple and still put out blistering times without the aid of super shoes. I believe you can still do it but as you say you got to want it.

I'm heartbroken for you but also inspired, in awe, and thankful for you putting this out for people to see. Such an honest and raw retrospective running is hard even for pro runners, in fact a lot harder for the pros. Let's not forget we are runners regardless, and it won't always go the way we want, but we are still runners. Look at what you've achieved and move on to the next step.

The destination was a glorious one... but the journey has been MORE glorious. Few people have the guts to put their dreams on the line and really TRY! Doing so is scary... because we might fail to achieve those dreams. But the glory is truly in being willing to try.
Thank you for your bravery in both trying but also sharing this journey with us.
You're right, you've given it what you could. Be truly content and proud with that. It will continue in other areas of your life. Keep taking risks in life, keep chasing a dream that is hard, and scares you a little. Back yourself and back your choices, learn, move forwards... keep going. Whatever the next goal is!
And realise that you inspire so many, and allow that to continue to inspire you in return.

heartbreaking video. Your passion comes across with every sentence. I run on a different level, so difficult position to give an advice, but your video provokes it. I invested very much a couple of years ago to improve my marathon PB and didn't make it in the end. I was disappointed and frustrated for many months. My hindsight says, I took this one race too important! I should have walked to the start line, on the one hand willing to invest everything, on the other hand alreaady knowing, that there will be more chances, next month, next year or later in life. You are qualified for the European Championship? Excellent, that's your next option. You have such a strong basis, you will generate an excellent result sooner or later. Don't waste too much energy on one unsuccessful race, but look at what is in front of you. I love and enjoy your videos, thanks for all that.

Mate, you are one of the truest and realest down to earth person/ runner I’ve ever watched and listened to. I only run for fun and partly for mental health as an ultra runner I’ve suffered a few injuries with my high mileage just coming back from one now and have been feeling quite low about it. But after watching this film I feel a certain positivity about starting my new training plan next week. Not to sure why but I’m sure other viewers will agree, you a bit of an inspiration to us runners keep the films coming and all the best
