I especially liked your reminder that a change in the length of each garment might make a big difference -- including the sleeve length.

I think this does not give the good indication.
Just because we also have different side and back views of our body and that gives quite an other impression.
So only the front view is only 1/4 of the view.
Most fashion shops have mirrors in different angles in a dressing room and sometime you try a dress or some other cloths and the front looks perfectly, but the side view or the back view is terrible.

In one of the Seamwork podcast episodes, Sarai suggested having someone take standing photos of you from the front, back, and sides (or use a remote, or the timed photo setting on your camera, just make sure it’s directly pointed at you and not sitting at an angle). Wear the undergarments you wear most often, or ones you will wear specially for the garment you’re looking to make. Then adjust the size of the photos on your computer, print them, and cut out around the shape of your body for each photo. From there you can trace the outline of your body onto a plain piece of paper, or adhere the actual printed photo cut-out onto a piece of paper. If you’re going to trace it, you’ll have to consider if you want to stand with your arms lifted slightly away from your body when the photos are taken. If you don’t want to do all of this, you can go to the My Body Model website and purchase a paper doll that is custom-made with your measurements, although I think they only provide a front view like the one that’s shown in this video. I personally have not tried the DIY method yet, but it seems like a good idea that requires little effort and virtually no cost to try out if this concept interests you.

@@kat_thefruitbat Great tips, I actually used the photo tracing method before creating MyBodyModel! A back view is included along with the front view as part of every MyBodyModel printable & digital fashion sketchbook pages. We weren't able to offer a 3/4 or side view, but it is on the wishlist for the future!
