Have you sold your caravan??
Hi Kevin,
The van is still for sale. We are also considering selling the combination ( truck and van) if the right buyer comes along.
Cheers, karl.
Awaitea is an absolute beauty. Can't wait to take a sail in her.
Hi Shazam,
Our rough plan is to head down to Fraser Is area, and hang out there next year. It would be great to have you aboard 😄
@@nowhereboundtouring can’t wait. Definitely will need a holiday after all the drama of the past few years. 💕
Nice yacht. Both of you look like you will enjoy the sailing life! Fair Wnds to you both.
Thanks EJ, hopefully you can come along and we can share our new experiences with you.
Cheers, karl & katty
Bloody hell there is alot going on under the floor .love the bed room an bunk set up happy exploring can't wait for the videos
Yep, it’s packed full.
We also like the interior layout. It’s nice to live in.
Cheers, karl & katty
@nowhereboundtouring yes the layout is good beautiful boat
Sounds wonderful. Fraser Island is magic. Talk soon
👍
She’s a beauty, lovely big yacht. I think you’ll be very busy with ironing out the little issues and putting your stamp on it, as they say. The engine room looks very busy, is there anything overhead where you can attach a chain block in case you need to yank something heavy out? I think you’ll enjoy the Weber, cooking with the lid closed is the way to go and they’re designed for that but I guess you know that already. My recommendation for the galley is an induction cooktop. Some stainless steel cooking gear will work on it such as our stainless steel coffee percolator. Kmart in Bundy has induction friendly non stick cooking sets which are surprisingly thick steel (alloy?) and very cheap, their flat bottomed wok is the best and would suit a rolly anchorage. Check out Steve’s Trim upholstery shop opposite Aldi in Electra St for custom upholstery needs and he does great stuff with external vinyl. Will you move the bed away from the hull of the aft master cabin so that you don’t have to climb over a sleeping body to get out of bed? Cheers guys and we’ll pop down one day to the marina and say hi. I want to talk 12v, solar, chargers and batteries! 🤓
Thank you for all that information I will definitely be looking into upholstery when we can afford it. We won’t be moving the bed way to difficult and it means I get a leg over 😂😂😂. At the marina most days drop us a line phone number on our website before you head down happy to help with the information you need.
There is nowhere for a lifting thing above the engine bay but hopefully we won’t have to do any heavy stuff for a while as new engine only done 400 hours.
We have an induction cooktop but not supposed to with my pacemaker . Our caravan pots are perfect for it so that was lucky.
Cheers Katty and Karl
Also, maybe put a flow restrictor in the washing machine outlet hose, as its just a centrifugal pump without pressure, it will just take slightly longer to empty but then the sump pump should be able to cope. Hope this helps 👍
That’s a great idea, thanks.
Hi guys, loved watching your yacht renovations videos and now the walk throughout. Your coffee machine looks quite slim and doesn't take up much space. Could you please tell me the make and model?
Cheers, looking forward to your sailing videos.
Gday JJ,
Thanks for watching 👍
We don’t have a coffee machine, you may of seen the black Soda Stream machine….?
Cheers
Wow what a wonderful job you both have done looking so lovely wont be long and you will be sailing off into the sunset
thanks Dianne, we certainly hope to be out of the marina before Christmas. Thanks for watching
Great to see Karl and Katy enjoy your time sailing and exploring, I spent 18 years on my yacht and have now done opposite of you ! Swallowed the anchor sold my yacht and bought a van for touring! Cheers from the skipper of dalliance 2
Gday Dalliance2 skipper,
We have now met a few people that are doing the opposite of what we are doing…… maybe we are backward 😄
Thanks for watching and commenting, we appreciate it. Cheers.
Good Morning Legends 😊 Awesone video & Thanks for the tour 👏🏼 Love the content 💯 Have a great day & Cheers 🍻 From South Africa 🇿🇦
It is now morning in Aus, so good morning also. We are glad you liked our new boat, and thanks for supporting us.
Cheers Katty & karl. 👍👍
Can’t wait to see your new adventures out at sea. Love you both from Tom and Jennifer. ❤
Hi Tom & Jen,
Hope you are both well & hopefully by the end of the year we will be sailing 👍
Great job guys!! Your new home on the water looks amazing!!! I'm sure you have some exciting adventures ahead!
Hi Andrew,
I hope you are both well. We are slowly getting there, and hope to be sailing by the end of the year.
Cheers
Great tour, guys. Looking forward to more sailing videos. Oh, and 4wd ones too.
Thanks,
We are aiming to be sailing before the end of the year 👍, still working hard to get Awaitea seaworthy.
It will then be up to us to learn.
Cheers
Lovely Ep guys, Holy cow its cramped engine set up.
Gday Craig,
Yes, it is very tight. That is the compromise on this boat. The good point is the layout and living space is great.
Cheers
Can’t wait for you guys to sail Nth to TSV. Catch up for wines and cheese on the deck of your new life (boat).
Gday Jase,
That sounds good . We are currently still working on Awaitea, and hopefully sailing by Christmas, if all goes well. 😃
Cheers.
, karl
Great vid i noticed you have one the best inverters on the market Aussie made in QLD they are bullet proof over engineered will not let you down not like cheap imports ,i have 2 of them and are going strong well done.
Gday Andrew,
That’s good to know, do they still make them?
A bit of work there Karl. I got a bit of feeling of overwhelm there when you said about the decking..."for the rest of our lives". Just a little bit at a time - there are no emergencies going on, so relax, enjoy and forward, always forward. Looking forward to you guys sharing the jobs on Awaitea.
Hi Ben,
Our first goal is to get her seaworthy and get out sailing. We are almost there, about another 6 weeks and we should be good. The deck is now all waterproof so hopefully that will slow any rusting underneath. The decking now can be done over time as you say. The standing rigging will hopefully be repaired and made good in November, then off we can go…
Cheers, karl & katty
@@nowhereboundtouring Bon voyage! Hope it all comes together for you guys. Wave, when you sail past Victoria! :)
@BenMitro
We will 👍
Oh and I forgot to ask where again did you get those wonderful suction cup shades for the windows? Cheers.
Hi the solar screens are from solar screens in Capalaba Qld 👍👍
Christmas is not too far away. I assume you be heading north first. Will you be getting bikes for shore leave?
Hi guys,
We plan on doing some trips around Bundaberg, until we are a little more confident, then head down to Fraser Island/ Sandy Straights and clock up some sailing hours…..
Bike or scooter, yes at some point.
Cheers
Catherine your spice jars what are they called and where did you get them thank you
Hi Chris, I have sent you a messenger message with the information regarding the spice jars. Thanks for watching and keep on biking cheers Katty
That motor is the same as what was in my old truck and the top of a piston holed at 1.3 million k so it should last you a long time
Hi John,
That’s great to hear 👍👍😀
Good on you hope you both have a cracker time
How much did the yacht cost and how much was the reno. What have you done with the truck and can?
Gday David,
We still have the truck and van, but we are looking to sell the van to repay for the purchase of the boat. If the right person comes along, we would consider selling the truck / van combination.
Cheers, karl
Yes, that's what it was. 😅
Do you mean the charter boat??
Sorry, that was the reply about the coffee machine being a soda stream. I recognise it being a soda stream now.
The message came up as a new message rather than being an answer. Thx.
@jjbee9229 👍
I wonder if “Awaitea” is a spelling mistake. Awatea in Maori basically means ‘daylight’. i te awatea means “in the day” or “dawning of a new day”, which is very appropriate for you 😊. The i makes it not really a Maori word.
Hi we have been told we are pronouncing it incorrectly it is “a way tee a” meaning water cloud. W have found the Robinson and clarified it 👍
Best wishes!
For me, just the thought 🤢🤮…not too good with the rocking motion😅
Thanks,
We both get motion sickness 😬 especially me, but we will just have to get use to it. Hopefully since we have been living aboard for a few months, we will not get sick.
Cheers, karl.
