Hi mate nice video. I'm going to change the thermostat on a 2001 mini this weekend. watched both your videos. Reason being no hot air coming inside the car. Before I start going into heating core Ted I think it's a first troubleshoot move. Ps new subscriber here
I've had the same problem, changed the heater core (heater matrix where I'm from) this morning. The old heater core was clogged with brown gunge and could be unclogged. Will post the video tomorrow hopefully, or the next day. I got a brand new unbranded heater core for the Mini R50 with seals and clips for approx $60USD off ebay.

The filler cap will not come off on mine I have a 2004. Did you struggle with this?

Question. You turned the ignition on without the battery? Why is that?
You missed the third bleed screw on the end of the block 😬
