Thanks so much for the wonderful review and for helping share what we make! We love how informative your vids are and how you delve into the history of these incredible creatures and films that inspire us :)
Absolutely beautiful. I'd be so proud to have this in my collection!
The kenner is definetly based off the model. The back bumps hvae the same shape and the back of the shoulder plates are identical
This is one of the closest replicas one can get to the onscreen Rancor vampire bat-like Monster puppet and looks incredible! Great showcase, thanks! Glad they went with the puppet in the film instead of the costume, which looked too much like a guy in a suit. The puppet and stop-motion animations still hold up today and look great versus the Pig Guard and Luke. Cool extras too. Awesome video, thank you.
As mentioned in the video, this is based on the maquette, not the actual puppet used in the movie. There's a good bit of (kinda subtitle) difference, especially with the face and skin colour. Regal Robot did make a movie puppet replica just a little while back. So if you want to get the most accurate-to-screen replica, definitely go with that one.
@@Chalor. Thanks, yes, good point about the maquette vs the actual prop likeness. This looks awesome though and very close IMO. Good that they offer the movie replica version too. Both great to collect.
Thanks for sharing!
Sweet, thanks for sharing! I love the rings on Jabba's tail. It reminds of Ziro for some reason.
That unique drawing is a cell or frame in a storyboard! I suspect Phil story boarded the Rancor scenes and then they took those and put them into these collectors frames.
No he actually drew them all specifically for this product
Hasbro's Force Unleashed Rancor has the purple colors. I'm not sure if those are natural skin pigment or if they were painted on the animal by the tribes who rode them in the video game. Maybe that's where the Force Unleashed got the idea....the original maquette!
It does, and I have it, but I always interpreted it to be warpaint of some kind. In any case, much more stripey than these subtle accents. But they may have gotten the inspiration from the maquette
Funfact: they used the sketch you show at 1:00 as the Boss of the first Sail Barge Level in "Super Return of the Jedi" for the Super Nintendo! As a Kid I've always wondered what this thing was supposed to be.
I didn't know that!
Yep, nice catch on that reference. I wonder what the story is there. th-cam.com/video/zePXd2k1DPw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_remNljOQRWUalMO&t=2526
I recognized that boss as soon as I saw that sketch :)
Great stuff!
Cool maquette!
I cant believe you've bought all these maquettes but missed big rancor prop replica
Well I couldn’t afford it at the time and I also don’t really have a place to display something that size. So I was glad to be able to get this piece
I could not afford it too so I've sold 1/3 of my collection to buy that rancor, prop replica its a piece I've always wanted @@MightyJabbasCollection
Do you know if you will do viewer submissions for the Christmas season this year?
I hadn’t really thought of it. Do you have something you’d like to submit?
@@MightyJabbasCollection Yes If you were planning on doing one I would definitely build something to submit I thought you did one yearly but if you did one this year that would be great
