Is SK Terran just obsolete? It seems like that's what this series is gonna show. It kind of makes me feel really sad about StarCraft in general, as the biggest theme in the game is that Aliens-style space marines vs swarms of aliens action movie style. Marines were already a temporary stopgap in the early game until your factories come online in the other 2 Terran matchups. Now that's what they'll be for TvZ. Just something you use to threaten/pressure Zerg in the early game until the factories start coming online
Zerg made a lot of mistakes. You never rush zerglings, they slow your hatcheries in the beginning. Either make sunkens, or no zergling at all. Also, hydralisks are better than mutalisks against terran. Terran has no difficulty dishing out normal damage in the early game, unlike protoss.
I feel the same way you do bro. Literally the only matchup marines are used is TvZ and now its gonna be mech too. When I think of terran i think of space marines gunning down alien hordes as well.
Maybe. I think the issue with SK terran is that there's a clock on it, even more so than before now that Zergs really know how to deal with it. You really have to hit your window midgame or you're just in a losing position. Of course it's still possible to win by outplaying the opponent, but assuming equal skill you should lose
It seems like whenever the Zerg loses to Terran, it's easy to point out a couple of basic things the Zerg player should have done differently to win. When Terran loses, it's more like "Well, sucks that the Zerg made Defilers."
It's because defilers are completely out of sync with every other unit in the game. It doesn't compliment other units it simply breaks the game. No other RTS has an unlimited mana unit that happens to also have ridiculously good spells.
think about it this way: terran has to solve zerg. zerg has to not be solved. it's easier to lose by attacking than by defending, and brood war is impossible to play perfectly. zerg expands better in that it's both faster and more efficient with resource gathering, so you can't try to outscale. you have to force zerg to make fighting units instead of drones of course, zerg can also be extremely hard and intensive to play, but this is the pro level so such concerns are less important. defilers are truly very strong- it's not just consume, but how damage types work under dark swarm, how plague doesn't really have good answers, that the defiler starts with 1 armor go load up the game and mess around with it in a bot match or something. compare it with all the other spellcasters- it's better than all of them. I love zerg but artosis is right when he says it's far and away the best caster
@@machinatingminotaur6285 100%. Spawn Broodling is a very close third behind dark swarm and plague. Being to one click a unit with a spell from a fast flying unit is really laughable. You will hear insta-win defiler zerg players say "WeLl wHaT abOut iRradiATe?" It's about DPS and pacing; a defiler can cast two different spells almost an unlimited amount of times in quick succession and immediately shut down an entire army whereas a Terran or even Protoss has to wait a very long time. It's almost like Blizzard had to find a way to make up for poor balancing for zerg right before release date.
What's with the clickbait video title? "Is ZvT solved?" This video had no discussion at all regarding ZvT being a solved thing, not even suggestions regarding that topic. This is just dishonest.
TvZ/ZvT has become such a bore rn. What's interesting is how Terran are trying to cheese lol but the matchup is so predictable now. If T hasn't made almost game-ending damage by a certain point, Z wins because stacked Lurkers at each base into Plague grind is impossible to beat. What a shame
Things like these are why i think Brood War could use a balance patch. Buff Firebats for instance so they become better against most Zerg units, thus mitigating the dark swarm problem to an extent.
Blizzard has to patch it - you can't have 1 individual unit (defiler) that can cast unlimited OP spells that shut down entire armies. There's no counter to it. No other RTS has such a broken unit.
@@MLO860. swarm should reduce dmg by 90%. Because they do need it in some way, but 90% would make it so that 2 Lurkers under a Dark Swarm could not hold 150 supply of marine siege tanks lmao
@@qcdoomqc yeah or make attacks miss like w/high ground. Just get rid of consume. Irradiate doesn't counter defilers because zerg can produce defilers faster than vessels and with consume Terrans or Protoss can't scale with zerg. And the actual irradiate spell takes longer to to be impactful (taking out a unit) whereas dark swarm is instantaneous.
@ lol that would make more sense than what we got right now. Cuz right now, you irradiate the defiler and dark swarm lasts so insanely long that he can just cast dark swarm and itll last until Z makes a brand new defiler, consumes a ling and casts a brand new dark swarm lmao. I dont balance whine. Ever…. But between consume, dark swarm and plague defiler is the most insanely overpowered unit ive ever seen in an rts
Mech in TvZ: Everyone gets excited and happy as if Mech is the only honorable and right way to play Terran . Bio vs Protoss: Everyone calls it cheesy , it is frowned upon.
JYJ is definitely the defining factor here. It is ballsy to make zerglings against the SK Terran #1.
think about it this way: terran has to solve zerg. zerg has to not be solved. it's easier to lose by attacking than by defending, and brood war is impossible to play perfectly. zerg expands better in that it's both faster and more efficient with resource gathering, so you can't try to outscale. you have to force zerg to make fighting units instead of drones
of course, zerg can also be extremely hard and intensive to play, but this is the pro level so such concerns are less important. defilers are truly very strong- it's not just consume, but how damage types work under dark swarm, how plague doesn't really have good answers, that the defiler starts with 1 armor
go load up the game and mess around with it in a bot match or something. compare it with all the other spellcasters- it's better than all of them.
Queen just dominated Season 5. Zerg remains supreme. Terran has a chance if drops slow the hive timing. Or if Terran can stop the 3rd or 4th base.
Defeat by egg.
@12:22 Artosis gets chills.
:)
Someone told me the most Action intensive thing in starcraft is earlygame PvP
Mech in TvZ: Everyone gets excited and happy as if Mech is the only honorable and right way to play Terran .
Bio vs Protoss: Everyone calls it cheesy , it is frowned upon. Cause ppl love their siege tanks.
I understand mech is much stronger vs toss, but we've seen multiple times bio working vs toss if supported by tanks/wraiths. What is this clownery? Mech's already used in 2 out of 3 match ups.
Great vids, ty
Any other title changes?
Is there a reason you never cast soul key games?
I've never laddered BW but I've seriously laddered other games and that felt like a ladder GG where you're just like, "ugh, yeah, I could still win, but I don't want to deal with this right now and it's ladder so who cares just hit "find match" again
As a vegan I approve of this match.
Haven't watched it yet, but yes, ZvT is solved. Zerg will win when played on similar skill levels.
arty boy is tired today
Awesome game! He did very smart moves.
Has been for weeks now
