I actually like Nemona a lot. If you do all of her cutscenes at the school you find out that she was depressed because everyone at the academy was afraid to battle her and said she was a prodigy, even though she worked hard to get where she is. She’s not traumatized like Arven or got mistreated like Penny and the rest of Team Star, but she’s not one dimensional either
@@magus_nate On the academy computer, look for the exclamation marks (!) and the pictures of who to talk to in each room. All three main characters have a story arc to close things out.
Nemona is literally that one player that has finished the game so many times, each time trying a different variation of Nuzlocke just to get something new to the experience. And that's why she picks the starter Pokémon weak to yours: she needs to have that rival that picks the stronger typing.
I love her determination to be your rival. All the others were like “be rivals with me” “yes” but nemonas actually like “PLEASE! BE MY RIVAL” and in a dialogue if you say “no” to being her rival enough, she says “YOU!ME!RIVALS!YES!!” I just love it.
Best call back is when you becole a champion and she come asking you if you did become champion, answer no constantly and she'll end up answering with "YOU! CHAMPION!! YES??"
It's a little sad when you realize she's that desperate for a training partner/friend because everyone else is afraid of her and think she's a bit much to handle, despite being the friendliest person at your school and just wanting someone who shares her passion. Yandere tomboy is best girl.
Y'know it didnt hit me until recently how sad Nemona's story is. She herself isn't a sad character but the way she talks about her family in Area Zero really puts into perspective why she is the way she is. She kinda just casually admits to being the neglected child. Her sister is going to be the heir to what I assume is a multimillion dollar company so all the attention is going to her, while Nemona is dismissively told to do whatever she wants. She said 'aight bet' and became the strongest trainer in the region, through hard work and passion alone. But her strength alienated her from everyone, so she didn't really have any friends or anyone to reciprocate her feelings. Battling isn't just her thing, it's literally the only thing she has.
penny and the player are the ones w/o horrible parents bro (Penny's dad DID NOT deserve to get explained the way he did he sounds like such a sweetheart)
This becomes even better if you see this theme from Nemona's perspective. The melody shows just how excited she is to finally have an equal, and how freeing and liberating it feels to not have to hold back, with all its wild melodies and tones that still maintain a hype atmosphere. This isn't your battle, it's Nemona's.
I think the awareness of her battle-loving eccentricity by other characters in the game made her come across as very genuine and earnest. You need people like Penny, Arvin and Geeta to balance out her wildness-and they did a good job with that.
Exactly. She would’ve been way more annoying if everyone was perfectly fine with her eccentric personality. But the fact that the 3 main characters (Penny, Arven, and Nemona) all have stuff they dislike about each other helps make their friendship in the end feel real, and not just the XY rivals level.
Bro you don't talk about Geeta like she is an actual character her entire character is that she is the top champion, yet she has basically no team synergy or set up moves. She just a plank of wood.
Look at her interactions with Penny and then compare it to how Tierno and Trevor behaved back in XYZ. The girls actually feel like human beings with personalities that bounce off of each other
I love their Area Zero interactions. Penny is just roasting Nemona and Arven nearly the whole way down. She basically calls Nemona out on her blood lust😂
There's something about seeing how ECSTATIC Nemona is after you beat her that's just... very refreshing and different from what we're all used to, and I think that's amazing. Not a lot of characters (or people, even) are THIS excited about seeing someone do so much better than themselves. As someone who struggles with superiority/inferiority I honestly aspire to be more like Nemona in this way. Instead of feeling upset for not being good enough, I want to be this excited for my friends even if I lose despite giving everything I have.
This is underrated, such a blessed comment ❤. I wish more people were like that too. Too many people out there calling themselves “Kings” and “Queens” when they only live for themselves, and not to lead others. Let’s all be the monarches that raise each other up no what happens, even if we win or lose, instead of be a poor sport. That how true Pokémon battling, and life in general should be, imho (in my honest opinion) anyway. Moments like those… are truly worth treasuring. 😊✌️
@@colfdralegend Hau was similar in that he was happy for others, but that was because he was just a super relaxed and friendly guy, he just happened to also be a really competent battler. Nemona on the other hand is happy because she's passionate about battling, she's one of if not the best in her region, and she was bored being alone at the top.
Nemona felt like a real rival to me. A rival that actually challenged me, A rival that wasn't using healing items, a rival, like most of us, has already beaten the league before. That's why she is definetely my favourite. She feels closer to us who have beaten other games and already knows a lot about the franchise.
I kinda hated how no one uses healing items, not even once. I recently just started a plahthrough of shining pearl cause I wanted to be able to transfer some stuff to scarlet and violet and the fact that trainers in gen 4 will actually use items and be challenging and engaging is more enjoyable than just breezing through everything.. I really wish they'd add a difficulty option and an option to turn off the exp share bullshiet.
And you know one thing? She's using a team that isn't her champion ones but rather the team she hand picked so she can even out the playing field. That means her actual team maybe even stronger than this.
@@hyper_lynxngl, I would have loved the use of items from rivals and the league like they did with Gen 4. It made it more rewarding because u use the same tactics.
@@gemsolus6568 Exp. share really isn't the problem here though. I'd even argue S/V are pretty well balanced around it. Obviously, fighting trainers while underleveled does make the battles more difficult, but I don't consider handicapping oneself to be a good way of making a game challenging. The AI just isn't that smart, and has never been. Couple that with the fact that NPC mons rarely hold items and the trainers don't even switch out their mons and 95% of the battles are just super easy.
Why Nemona is such a good rival besides actaully being a interesting character, is because alot of players relate to her feeling of not having anyone in the whole region be able to withstand her. We constantly complain about not having challenging battles and here she comes blazing through with a mutual feeling.
She was actually pretty tough for me to beat. Our levels were almost identical. Luckily my ceruledge managed to shadow sneak her Quaquaval, otherwise i would've lost lol
@@bigcos3825 I'm pretty sure I read that they specifically programmed Nemona battles to difficulty scale with you, so her levels for every fight with the player would inevitably be almost identical every time you fight her. To actually give you that feeling of rivalry. Super cool game design choice :) Though even with the difficulty scaling I found her battles easy, maybe I just accidentally ended up with a team of pokemon that "perfectly" countered hers, haha EDIT: Nvm, Nemona scaling was just a myth/rumour. She's fixed like all the other fights u~u
@@bigcos3825 Update: I did some googling to double check myself just in case and sadly it seems that Nemona level scaling was just a myth/rumour, the battles in SV are still fixed in the classic Pokemon style
Arven's final battle: "we gotta be strong enough to enter area 0" Penny's final battle: "Im not letting my friends down" Nemona's final battle:"Finaly, a worthy opponent. Our battle will be Legendary!"
It was really awesome finally having the battle that Nemona was waiting for throughout the whole game and the fact that she was so excited and happy that you beat her was really cool. Also the Iris vibes in the theme is really nice to hear.
Her Battle was the coolest one I’ve ever had in a Pokémon game. I was around lv 68 with my Arcanine as my last Pokémon when she pulled her Ace (the fire starter). This Arcanine was a ground Tera type with dig, extreme speed , retaliate and fire blast, just before her match I went to the restaurant to change his type to a Normal. The fight came down to my half health Annihilape and Arcanine vs her Skelidirge. She kills the Ape , we both then terrastelize, I use retaliate to get the extra bonus from a previous KO on the team, she uses earth power or something that woulda one shotted my Arcanine, but, as a normal type, he lives with 30% Hp. I use Extreme speed and cap the win . Really wanted to type this down, this game was the only Pokémon game I’ve played that managed to give me an actual challenged without hard handicapping myself . Best rival in years
@@danielz-v4083 I used an Annihilape on my team too. It ended up being kinda easy even though I was a little underleveled. I didn’t need to terastalize mostly because I was so invested in the battle that I forgot about it. But yeah I agree, best rival in a while.
I love the tone this song has, while it feels like an epic battle, it doesn't make you tense, the song just says: dude just enjoy this moment and relax
The first of the friendly rivals I really really liked. She really comes off as someone looking for someone to push her forward and it's relatable. IF you get to a point where no one is attempting to challenge you or push you to try harder, you get complacent and either quit or seek someone to help you push your limits. Honestly our character and her will be long time friends even pass this game you can truly feel. Each one upping each other. You need a friend like that that's happy when you win and pushes you to try harder when you lose in life
Nemona is honestly top 3 rival material imo. From the start, she’s supposedly better than you, but she isn’t an unbearable asshole about it. She’s acting like a big sister figure and I think that’s something GF should do a lot more for the rivals instead of making all of them either douchebags or overly nice people.
@@Cheddah28 no riva actually try to kill you and it’s normal for Nemona to act like that towards you, she’s already champion and can see potential in you so she encourages you to be the best
She’s just such a refreshing character? I feel like Hop and Hau were so similar with being the “cheerful kid with big dreams who gets humbled harshly” but she was just so happy to have someone rival her. Genuinely up there with Barry as one of my favorite rivals ever.
Same! I’m so disappointed that in the post-game you can only fight her in the ace tournament. And even if you do find her, you don’t get her battle theme!
Even geniuses have their insecurities, her being unable to throw poke balls right but creating such a reputation as a trainer just hits differently. All the friends have something holding them back, but they just keep going forward. I love this game
I still love the reveal that she's just bad at physical exercise in general, with how winded she gets while going up the academy stairs, or going through area zero. Was a fun character quirk, imo, that the sporty, battle-crazed rival isn't actually all that sporty.
She isn't even a genius either. She isn't exactly a prodigy or had a specific upbringing that made her special at battles. She just has such a strong passion for it and puts in the determination needed to reach the goal she wants. She's got grindset and became peak.
one thing I like about Nemona is that despite being rich she doesn't really flaunt her fortune in people's faces despite her being the best in the region she doesn't really brag about it to other's she's just in it for fun and wants others to have the same fun as she dose but unfortunately none of the other trainers could reach her level which is why she was so fixated on us cause we were the first to show signs that we could not only reach her level but surpass it
@@proridinggamers396 to be fair coming from the galar region to this it makes it hard to scale the trainers in paldea to galars level. From a story narrative the galar region is the most competitive region in the pokemon franchise not only is its champion descried as being a battle genius but the gym leaders are also described as being high level trainers as well hell the third gym leader in the game kabu at one point in his career was almost the champion of honen not only that but he's described as so tough that most gym challengers quit when they get to him
She's someone who realized that it's lonely at the top. I have this story in my head that at some point prior to the start of S/V, a very bored and perhaps cockier Nemona ran into a Trainer as powerful as she is - someone like, say, Red or even post-Journeys Ash with his World Championship team. They proceeded to have an epic and probably very close match, but she ultimately loses. The battle changed her that she became the person she is today, and made her realize that what she needed was an equal.
I gotta say, after how well written and lovable she was in the story and how tough her final team is, I'm always really happy to see her in the academy ace tournament. I think I'm almost as excited to battle her as she is.
@@Commander_Appo N is still considered a Rival, even with him being part of the villain team and not having a starter he does fill the criteria and is officially recognized as one. But yeah gen 5 had the best rivals, the trio were the best multi rivals of any game since they were all so completely different
Even though Geeta is technically the top champion, I think Nemona is canonically the better trainer, but since she's still in school she can't have the title. Hell, Geeta even says Nemona didn't have to try very hard to beat her I think this is the real champion battle, and I felt more hyped here than at the league
Yeah, Geeta says she got the sense that Nemona was holding back when she beat her, which is significant because Geeta claims she CAN’T hold herself back. That means Geeta was DEFINITELY going all out while Nemona… just didn’t have to.
I fought her at levels 54-60. Oh God was it close. But thanks to a revive skill, I pulled it off. (I don't use items in battle, but anything else is fair game)
I lost at 60-62, but like just barely and it was mostly due to lack of information. I play blind, so I didn't know at least 3 typings or certain movesets which screwed me pretty bad a couple times. Lost by one move. Rematched and won 3-0 without doing any grinding. I wish she took the dub when I lost though, felt like the real battle IMO. (I hadn't dropped more then 2-3 pokemon per match at all before that point, and the most the E4 got was 2 I think), It surprised me when on the last last fight I only lost 1 pokemon on my first try, despite being equally underlevelled lmao
honestly i wrapped up all the stories around the same time so i did starfall's story finale first then path of titans story finale then honestly concluded with starfall which felt like a satisfying close to the main story
She is not your rival. She is your mentor. She already WON the competition. So unlike Hop or Hau she does not get frustrated because of it. She IS already a Champion. She is just happy that she finally found someone who is also into Pokemon Battling as much as her. In fact she ask you to be her Rival at the very end of the story. Altho the internet always take's it a step further.
I know I’m a bit late, but honestly this game gave me so much. I haven’t had this much fun with a Pokémon game since Gen 5. There was so much to do, the characters were all so enjoyable, and story actually meant something like Gen 5. If this is only the first open world Pokémon game the skies the limit for the future of this series. I think it’s safe to say this is the right path Pokémon should go down.
She stalks you, she wants you all for herself, she doesn't want you to fight other trainers... behind this basic and banal rival hides a psychopath in love with you.
she literally encourages you to take on all of the gym leaders so you can be as strong as her 😭 how is that "not wanting you to fight other trainers" ??? also she isnt stalking you shes just meeting up with you at the gyms because she wants to check up on your progress (and battle lol). she made like one joke about not wanting you to fight Geeta and now people are calling her a stalker
This is it. Every other battle up to this was her going easy on you, as evidenced by her slow and plodding battle theme before this. You’ve reached the same rank as her. She finally has an opponent that can match her. Nemona doesn’t need to hold back anymore.
This is such a jovial, anime-esque, upbeat and encouraging theme. I love soundtracks that reflects and tells a story of a person's character and Pokemon tends to a really good job with that
Honestly, I really like this theme. When other champion themes are a sort of “this is the final showdown” affair, and some are love letters to the games themselves- Iris’ theme being the blazing farewell to the 2D era, Professor Kukui’s theme being the original theme as a sendoff to the DS era, and Leon’s theme being an ecapsulation of the entire franchise and a goodbye to the old linear format… …this one feels like the start of something. It’s as if the game’s saying “the world’s your oyster, kid. Go explore” which feels really fitting. It’s the first step in Pokémon’s new direction, the first open-world iteration, and it’s pushing us to go out and catch those ‘mons like never before.
1:12 idk why but it sounds so sentimental to me. Like maybe she’s thinking back to when she first met you and now she’s seeing how much you’ve grown. Then just going back to the battle
Great theme, good battle with some difficulty and great rival. this game is in another level with his story, music, characters and this game is not ez bro i love this
Gotta say, felt she was the true definition of a “rival”, in the sense that technically, she’s always stronger than you until the last fight, but she’s also the central positive force that’s pushing you and supporting you all the same. Both the competitive nature and the friendship are balanced perfectly. Add in the backstory about why she’s so eccentric about you being her rival (see cutscenes in school for that) and honestly there’s a genuine case for her being best rival in the series.
This was one of the best moves they ever pulled. After working your way through victory road to the Elite Four and Champion themselves, they put up a fight, but not nearly enough. Even as you beat La Primera herself, with an odd feeling of things being unfinished, the ultimate champion herself has the gall to say... "Nemona never actually gave it her all when she beat me. In you she may have finally found an equal." Then at the place where your rivalry itself began, you battle the one who has toppled a grand champion without breaking a sweat, and it all comes together. For once the final battle wasn't supposed to be the champion you battled after the Elite Four... But the champion you started your journey with from the very beginning. And the way she was so proud to lose to her best friend and rival... It was the ending we needed. Thank you, Gamefreak. This curveball was needed.
she reminds me of the female rival I created back before the release of BW1 because I wanted to have 2 rivals around in Pokemon with one having an eccentric energetic personality and some no bullshit attitude and genuine fun mixed in on her path to "grow up and being responsible" to have characters feel more like characters instead of "rivals" as their first """"character trait"""".
This feels like the perfect cinematic ending theme for Nemona as a champion and takes so much from her original theme that I loved so much! Still find it interesting that they made your main rival a champion from the start where she's basically the main character mentoring you to become her true equal - and she's possesive and beyond obsessed with battling. Just a refreshingly interesting rival all around.
I was so so happy hearing that she had a different theme for the “final” battle! It felt so nice finishing her story, she’s easily my favourite “friendly rival” besides obviously Cheren and Bianca (gen 5 supremacy)
@@cesarneto4326 I never said he was a jerk, I just said I don’t consider him a friendly rival because it’s not like he was ever really kind to you, unlike Bianca and the like. He is more the serious rival archetype, rather than the friendly archetype.
Nemona is easily my favorite rival. She's genuine and earnest and easily the player's biggest cheerleader. She believes in you and just wants to have fun battling with you. That's literally her grandest dream, to have a rival she can go all out with and have fun. She's a gem and I adore her so much.
HELL YEAAAAA this was so sick! This was actually down to the wire, but I was so determined not to lose, with all of the characters you've met across your journey surrounding you, it felt like a perfect climax! Well, other than the other climax. I LOVE THIS GAME!!!
I don't know why but this just brings a tear to my eye. this is undoubtedly the best song in the entire pokemon franchise. this is my favourite cutscene i have ever experienced in any video game. i don't think there is a word to describe how i felt when first playing through the game. so surreal
I can see Meowscarada as her starter since she did mention about having problems with critting in the early battles so having a pokemon to always crit is probably nice development for her
The only issue they had with Nemona was not being able to fight her initial champion Team. She definitely deserved a full lvl 100 team. Or level 80ish, basically the Red treatment from Silver/Gold.
Yeah, especially since both of them have the same problem of being at the top of Pokemon battling but don't really have anyone who could keep up with them or give them a challenge anymore
"For the rush of blood, for the time between the seconds, live. For the only joy left to me in this fleeting, ephemeral world, live!" --Nemona, Pokemon Scarlet/Violet
Nemona starting out stealth rocks, and her having one of the most dynamic team to where one Pokémon can’t sweep, is actually a real big brain play I have seen the AI do. Next would have been if Geeta used Kingambit last to utilize his Overlord Ability.
Definitely not Hops remixed theme, but an incredible theme nevertheless. I absolutely loved her first theme and the second doesn't disappoint, the electric guitar, keyboard, piano, chimes in the background. All of it comes together, not to mention just the upbeat nature of the whole thing just brings the entire ensemble together.
I love the subtle things baked into this theme. It really is everything in Nemona's original theme kicked up to 11. Those odd notes that jumped the gun in her original theme? Those are piano runs that lead into new parts of the theme. Notes fade out instead of being just cut of and stilted. All the instruments are the biggest versions they can be. And that little section before the loop that's just a couple notes alternating rapidly like an excited kid doing anticipatory taps with their feet... And the lead in feels just so liberating, like a big stretch or a aigh of relief. The music of Scar/Vi is great, but this one and Penny's theme actually makes me so emotional with just how meaningful the composition is.
Oh this theme is really good! I really like her as a character, she has just been waiting for someone to be her friend and match her strength. Love how exited she gets.
Literally the goku of Pokémon it’s the way she wants to reach even higher places in terms of strength between her and her Pokémon but no one can even begin to match her until we came. And the way she’s soo supportive when she saw us having potential she could find a true friend who SEES her and her talents and bring out even more from each other 10/10 rival would definitely be great friends with her
Nemona felt like a character playfully jabbing at sweaty battle simulation playing nerds like me. This culminated fully in the final battle where we both lead with a rock type and both opened with stealth rocks. I never felt more called out in my life and I loved it, best girl.
I love the story parallels she and Red have. They both reached the pinnacle of Pokemon battling and both are lonely at the top (quite literally with Red being at the top of Mt. Silver) and were really just waiting for someone who could give them a challenge or even defeat them
they are trying to awaken somethings in the kids that are playing this, so much so that they awakened somethings in me, the amount of good female and male character design is absurd
@@thunderstorm3626 as a internet funnyman once said “You can criticize Pokémon on anything you want because the game leaves a lot to be desired, but when it comes to one specific field they know what they’re doing”
If we think a little, she's the Red of new fan's generations. The "Champion" we fight at the League is a substitute, while the true Champion is away continuing her adventure.
A rival who is the champion but decides to redo the course of gym challenges again, redoing her team and taking a starter weak to the type you took all for the new kid? Is this what it feels like to New Game+/Smurf?
I honestly love just how fun these past 2 champion themes have been. No intense epic music but that's okay, cause it just invokes so much childlike joy. The first being a battle all about having fun and putting on a show with this battle being someone who hasnt had an equal in ages finally getting to have one big fun duel with you. It's so sweet, it really brings out how even as an adult, Pokemon is this big childlike wonderful adventure
To be honest I didn’t really feel anything for nemona until this battle , it made me realise that she just wanted someone to be her equal, and her pure excitement when you beat her made me smile so much I love her so much now
I think Nemona is my favorite “rival” now. She’s a beast, a prodigy, and has absolutely no one her age to share her passions with. Meeting us and seeing us love battling and growing to her level of skill at incredible speed brings her so much joy. She finally has that best friend and rival she’s dreamt of. I’m happy to challenge my bestie again and again.
I like the Champion Iris vibes parts of this track give off. And it was very fitting as I battled her at night and there were shooting stars making the sky reminiscent of Iris's battle background. The stars truly aligned for a memorable showdown.
One of the best Rival in Pokémon. She's basically similar to Ash in a way too that she has a one track mind, but can be so charismatic and likable with how she does it. She's not in love with the Protagonist as some may say, she's literally just Battlesexual it would seem. And we love her for it.
This fits your battle with her after becoming Champion-rank way too well. You can *feel* her excitement to **finally** match you and go all out in battle in the song alone. Nemona is an awesome and very refreshing rival.
Battled toe to toe. It came down to Breloom vs Meowscarada She used Play Rough, but I Tera'd into poison type. I had effect spore and rocky helmet. The rocky helmet did her Meowscarada in. I was quite proud. I found a Shroomish in a poison tera raid early on. Amazing investment.
SV's true champion! And one of the best rivals ever! Friendly without being an A-kisser. I really like how pretty much everyone has this headcannon (which has evidence in game) about how Nemona is the NPC embodying the player after they finished the game: she is battle-bored in a Saitama-like fashion, just looking for that new challenge wherever she can. Along comes you in game, and boy is she happy about it. I LOVE HER!

Hopefully we'll learn more about her backstory in the dlc.
God damn that’s so damn sad, protect her at all costs
Got downvoted for saying this on reddit man, but its true
You know the Billy and onare people I think those are nemona's parents
penny and the player are the ones w/o horrible parents bro (Penny's dad DID NOT deserve to get explained the way he did he sounds like such a sweetheart)
This becomes even better if you see this theme from Nemona's perspective.
The melody shows just how excited she is to finally have an equal, and how freeing and liberating it feels to not have to hold back, with all its wild melodies and tones that still maintain a hype atmosphere.
This isn't your battle, it's Nemona's.
so that means.... this is our theme?
@@tethu1740 yeah, similar to in Sun and moon with the Champion defense theme. It was YOUR champion theme
Please leave the community, you didn't have to make this battle EVEN MORE BETTER THAN IT WAS!
It wasn't for long
As in the battle being hers
I think the awareness of her battle-loving eccentricity by other characters in the game made her come across as very genuine and earnest. You need people like Penny, Arvin and Geeta to balance out her wildness-and they did a good job with that.
Exactly. She would’ve been way more annoying if everyone was perfectly fine with her eccentric personality.
But the fact that the 3 main characters (Penny, Arven, and Nemona) all have stuff they dislike about each other helps make their friendship in the end feel real, and not just the XY rivals level.
Agreed!
Too many people out there calling themselves “Kings” and “Queens” when they only live for themselves,
and not to lead others. Let’s all be the monarches that raise each other up no what happens, even if we win or lose, instead of be a poor sport. That how true Pokémon battling, and life in general should be, imho (in my honest opinion) anyway. Moments like those… are truly worth treasuring. 😊✌️
I rarely agree as hard with people as I do with this. I really want to be this way
Wasn't Hau kinda similar?
@@colfdralegend
Hau was similar in that he was happy for others, but that was because he was just a super relaxed and friendly guy, he just happened to also be a really competent battler. Nemona on the other hand is happy because she's passionate about battling, she's one of if not the best in her region, and she was bored being alone at the top.
Omg yeah... the way Hop got depressed after battling him I started to feel bad and didn't want to hurt his feelings lol. With Nemona shs was so chill
@@gemsolus6568 I guess they've decided items are another "let the player have the advantage" mechanic
Even though her teams a breeze compared to Arven. Although arguably Arven is only so tough because of us, so maybe it still counts.

Nemona is literally the protagonist before you. She was the gifted prodgeny who rose up the rankings at lightning pace and stomped the champion first
But she's not a prodigy. The game emphasizes the fact that Nemona worked hard to get where she is.
Honestly, I really like this theme.
When other champion themes are a sort of “this is the final showdown” affair, and some are love letters to the games themselves- Iris’ theme being the blazing farewell to the 2D era, Professor Kukui’s theme being the original theme as a sendoff to the DS era, and Leon’s theme being an ecapsulation of the entire franchise and a goodbye to the old linear format…
…this one feels like the start of something. It’s as if the game’s saying “the world’s your oyster, kid. Go explore” which feels really fitting. It’s the first step in Pokémon’s new direction, the first open-world iteration, and it’s pushing us to go out and catch those ‘mons like never before.

Gotta say, felt she was the true definition of a “rival”, in the sense that technically, she’s always stronger than you until the last fight, but she’s also the central positive force that’s pushing you and supporting you all the same. Both the competitive nature and the friendship are balanced perfectly. Add in the backstory about why she’s so eccentric about you being her rival (see cutscenes in school for that) and honestly there’s a genuine case for her being best rival in the series.

this theme gives champion iris vibes from b&w2 especially the beginning, i love it so much !! its whimsical and fun just like hers
In you she may have finally found an equal."
Then at the place where your rivalry itself began, you battle the one who has toppled a grand champion without breaking a sweat, and it all comes together. For once the final battle wasn't supposed to be the champion you battled after the Elite Four... But the champion you started your journey with from the very beginning.
And the way she was so proud to lose to her best friend and rival... It was the ending we needed. Thank you, Gamefreak. This curveball was needed.
i think Nemona is Pokémon's most electric rival yet. she's truly unlike any other.
she reminds me of the female rival I created back before the release of BW1 because I wanted to have 2 rivals around in Pokemon with one having an eccentric energetic personality and some no bullshit attitude and genuine fun mixed in on her path to "grow up and being responsible" to have characters feel more like characters instead of "rivals" as their first """"character trait"""".
This feels like the perfect cinematic ending theme for Nemona as a champion and takes so much from her original theme that I loved so much! And the way she’s soo supportive when she saw us having potential she could find a true friend who SEES her and her talents and bring out even more from each other 10/10 rival would definitely be great friends with her
I love how her champion music is just her regular music but more hyped. Most fun battle I ever had hands down
Skeledirge like “Aye yo wtf?!”
Skeledirge do be questioning Nemona's fightsexual tendencies
Nemona felt like a character playfully jabbing at sweaty battle simulation playing nerds like me.
This culminated fully in the final battle where we both lead with a rock type and both opened with stealth rocks.
I never felt more called out in my life and I loved it, best girl.
I love the story parallels she and Red have. They both reached the pinnacle of Pokemon battling and both are lonely at the top (quite literally with Red being at the top of Mt. Silver) and were really just waiting for someone who could give them a challenge or even defeat them
Here for this dope music!!!
Nemona is easily my favourite character in this game. She’s the first interesting rival for a long time
I haven’t felt this level of energy and happiness in a pokemon battle since I fought Iris. God I love this game ❤️
Tall tomboy rival champion that stalks you all the time
*approved*
they are trying to awaken somethings in the kids that are playing this, so much so that they awakened somethings in me, the amount of good female and male character design is absurd
@@thunderstorm3626 as a internet funnyman once said “You can criticize Pokémon on anything you want because the game leaves a lot to be desired, but when it comes to one specific field they know what they’re doing”
@@Leavce 🍷🗿
How is she a tomboy
@@Leavce Classic Alpharad about the protags mother xD
If we think a little, she's the Red of new fan's generations.
The "Champion" we fight at the League is a substitute, while the true Champion is away continuing her adventure.
A rival who is the champion but decides to redo the course of gym challenges again, redoing her team and taking a starter weak to the type you took all for the new kid?
Is this what it feels like to New Game+/Smurf?
Report Nemona smurfing, keeps telling the new player to "fucking 1v1 me"
@@aetriandimitri190 both figurativelly and literally
she's on run 2
1:12~ my favorite
対等なライバルが現れたことにとてもワクワクしているネモの心をよく表している曲だと思う
Never have I been more proud over a friend shaped mudfish
This... *THIS* is a true champion!
Man the harmonies between the guitar riffs at 0:05-0:14 are magical and I wish there was more like that throughout the song-
I honestly love just how fun these past 2 champion themes have been.
Ikr, they sound like they'd fit perfectly as the themes for rainbow road
This song makes me so pumped. It makes me so hopeful and reassured at the same time. Man, this game was good
One of the best Rival in Pokémon. She's basically similar to Ash in a way too that she has a one track mind, but can be so charismatic and likable with how she does it. She's not in love with the Protagonist as some may say, she's literally just Battlesexual it would seem. And we love her for it.
Basically, she's just feminine Goku!
You had me until similar to Ash.
Battlesexual lmfao
"Battlesexual"
This fits your battle with her after becoming Champion-rank way too well. You can *feel* her excitement to **finally** match you and go all out in battle in the song alone. Nemona is an awesome and very refreshing rival.
I really enjoy how spaced Skeledirge’s eyes look.
when its the last lap in mario kart
God the piano trill in this track gives me goosebumps every time.
I love this track. Best battle theme in Scarlet and Violet. Thanks for everything, Masuda.
You know nemona has to be the most supportive rival ever because she wants to help you get stronger and have fun. BFF
@user-bq1ig3yr6v but this a scam
“At long last, a worthy opponent! Our battle will be legendary!”-Hard mode Iris BW2.
Battled toe to toe.
It came down to Breloom vs Meowscarada
She used Play Rough, but I Tera'd into poison type. I had effect spore and rocky helmet. The rocky helmet did her Meowscarada in. I was quite proud. I found a Shroomish in a poison tera raid early on. Amazing investment.
What a way to end a battle
SV's true champion! And one of the best rivals ever! Friendly without being an A-kisser. I really like how pretty much everyone has this headcannon (which has evidence in game) about how Nemona is the NPC embodying the player after they finished the game: she is battle-bored in a Saitama-like fashion, just looking for that new challenge wherever she can. Along comes you in game, and boy is she happy about it. I LOVE HER!
