A hybrid solution is definitely best. I don't see how keeping a notebook on you is any harder than keeping a phone on you. It works for me.
Physical notebooks are definitely not for storing collections of information. Notebooks are for recording ideas in the moment without being distracted by a notification while you're trying to completely capture your idea. But, you can always snap a pic and transfer it later. OCR allows you to search your notes later, if necessary.
Wear the mispelled words like a badge of honor. A notebook with crossed out words is evidence of work. It indicates when your attention lapsed and that you were smart enough to catch yourself. It represents growth and skill all in one.
The problem with digital notes is that it is too easy to not engage with them and carry them over because it is just a matter of shuffling them down to the next line of an infinite file or copying them into another file.
Written notes force you to complete tasks, carry them forward (penance for not completing it), or risk losing it forever. It forces action instead of creating an infinitely long list you never really have to complete before it gets too long.

It’s been scientifically proven that when you hand write a note, it is remembered much better than digital typing, so it wasn’t just your imagination. Also, the notebook won’t lock up or die from a run down battery. Sorry it didn’t work out for you.

Liked this video. Some original thoughts which is so rare in productivity type TH-cam videos, so often they just repeat known tips. I disagree with your view on notebooks as has worked really well for lots of people, but each to their own. Subscribed 👍

I use a stack of index cards held together with a binder clip. Lives in my back pocket, changes shape to whatever I need it to be. Daily planner? Check. Scratch paper for random reminders? Check. Mind mapping ideas for a project? Check. And I can always edit the stack, archive notes I need for later or just discard them when I’m done with them.

I can relate so much 😂 I constantly go back and forth btw screen and paper.
Have you seen Fleeting notes for obsidian - that might be a good middle ground for you. The app has a widget which shows me what I wrote during the day and lets me add quickly. When I start obsidian on my computer, all the notes automatically are imported into obs and disappear on my phone. Then I read them again, throw out the useless one and tag the useful ones. 😊

Having a notebook really is just a personal preference. It has a form of meditative effect for others.
But for practical purposes, the smartphone would be the best choice, since it'll be with us almost all the time.

Definitely agree, I'm thinking about bringing back the notebook for somethings (cause I miss writing with a pen). Cheers for the comment 👌🏼

Well, the pocket notebook can be better than the smartphone. A notebook doesn't distract you with notifications and makes you engage with the content you create in it more thoroughly because you're writing, not texting.
It seems much more practical to manage recurring or scheduled items with a calendar app. But, a physical notebook has yielded an unexpected benefit. As I use the notebook, tasks become disorganized. This forces me to complete old tasks or rewrite them to regroup them. This forces me to consider if they are worth doing and motivates me to complete them so that I don't need to keep rewriting them if they are necessary.

Hi, I am also switching back and forth between both analog and digital. I lean towards digital for work and analog for personal.
Could you let me know what app you had on your phone that organises notes like a network? Thanks.
