In an interview with John and Anthony just around the time of release of Cali, they mention they resurrected a jam/outline of a song from the BSSM sessions to record for this album. Could be Purple Stain?
In a Guitar Player magazine article around the time of Californication they had pics of John’s pedals from the album that never made it onto his live pedalboard, and I’m pretty sure he’s using a vintage Electro Harmonix Micro Synth on this.
Agree with you, but I don't know... I find this one pretty incoherent, also Purple Stain is one of my favourite songs so I can't listen to it in a different way than the original hahaha
i have to say the outro makes a lot more sense in this version. you could see how it would come out of this one, whereas although awesome it sort of comes out of left field on the final version
But I am sure Rick Ruben told John to come up with another riff since this demo of purple stain sounded too close to the get on top guitar riff. I’m sure this song wouldn’t of made into the album hadn’t John changed it into the sliding chord
You can really tell just how excited Anthony was to have John back in the band from this version.
word
TheCoolSquare ikr, kinda makes me wanna read his book again lol
just received Scar Tissue in my mail. And I'm submitting Bachelor Thesis today. So soon enough I'll be finally able to read it.
He (Anthony) does mention his (John’s) name a few times in the track.
@@Hurlex101 what track? I only know Purple Stain and Readymade
:something something, John Frusciante. Nothing else to say" - couldn't agree more, Anthony!
haha
Anthony really wanted to say John Frusciante on this song
Does john like period sex? Lol
holla
You really wanted to say John Frusciante, too!
He really does eat drums for breakfast!
4:54 !
It's a "get on top" and "purple stain" fusion
Dude thank you, I couldn't connect this to Get on Top for some reason, but I knew I'd heard it before.
2:05 California rest in pea.... oh wait....
This has more BSSM vibe.
no
just at the end
This Song looks like a lot to another b-side, Fat Dance

It would be so crazy if the guitar from this version was combined with the actual track version 😎
crazy bro
yes that would be hard as fuck
The guitar-melody starting around 0:43 is beautiful.
You can really hear the Hendrix inspiration in the guitar and the bonham inspiration in the drums
thanks for uploading, pretty rare. I choose the other one, hahaha
Agree with you, but I don't know... I find this one pretty incoherent, also Purple Stain is one of my favourite songs so I can't listen to it in a different way than the original hahaha
Andrew G Chad Smith is a robot dude
This version is awesome! I think it's just as good as the c.d version
Take a shot everytime Anthony says John Frusciante in this song 😂
wow what a fckn unique jam! thankyou rhcpmania for this great slice of earpie
Damn... Sounds pretty good
i have to say the outro makes a lot more sense in this version. you could see how it would come out of this one, whereas although awesome it sort of comes out of left field on the final version
The guitar during the "da doo doo da" part sounds a lot like Whatchu Thinkin'.
wow , you get this from the parallel universe ,right ?
I love this version! Saying that I still prefer the version on the album but damn this so fine!
i enjoy this version very much
Kind of sounds like Get On Top
John sounded like Josh on this song they both have similae styles of playing liking how Josh is coming along as a player and lead guitarist
I think John will never sound like Josh. The opposite could be true.
lol no
For god sake man what did u say...c'mon
The Josh years was the Red Hot Disco Peppers era and I'm glad it has passed.
This should have been an own song. Nice. Very nice.
They made the song better on the album with the chorus they used, but I do like the way Anthony raps the verses in this one.
Chad giving it a czadu!!
I think its just coincidence because theyre both in E minor with wah, but one riff in this sounds just like get on top
Get on top is in Dm not Em
It’s Em no ?
Me gusta esa versión!! muy buena
sick!!!
inspiration for ''Get on Top'' ?
no, get on top was inspired by a public enemy song.
yee
Perhaps he may have picked up some influences but I doubt it.
But I am sure Rick Ruben told John to come up with another riff since this demo of purple stain sounded too close to the get on top guitar riff. I’m sure this song wouldn’t of made into the album hadn’t John changed it into the sliding chord
its me again may I add the chads drumming reminds me of Led Zeppelin John Bonham
SHANE 102588 it's his favorite drummer so maybe there is this connection lol
this is great
u rly see rick rubin contribution lol
sounds similar to David Bowie song fame
It's like hes spitting these lyrics
well yeah is a jam
1:56 that guitar sound similar to dave in one hot minute
Only John Frusciante
Purple Stain Special Zone 😵💫🫠
Sounds like get in Top Mixed with purple stain
What pedal use frusciante in this one?
Probably the Ibanez WH10 Wah
John Frusciante and notHong more to say makes me laugh so hard on work!!!!!
Way better in my opinion
Sounds a little like get on top guitar riffs
chorus tab?
wow
What does he sing before "John Frusciante"? Can anyone help me?
I have no clue, sounds like "Andra Love's got..."
lost in México... 4 am Anthony drinking whisky from the bottle with a psicodelic walking like a zombie
Melhor que a gravada hehe irado
👍🏿😍
i like this hook better...guitar on the album better
The guitar riff in this version is really similar to the one of Get on Top
honestly? i think this could be even better than the official if we mixed these vocals with the official one
Sehr funky sehr ästhetische Version
I really like the "chorus". Outro is better on the album, I think.
better than original
Get on top X purple stain
from where is this?
b sides
Was this released with a single??
Can someone who understands English write the lyrics?
Where/when is this from?
bass line's the same
I still prefer the album version but this bad att all
you're missing the word not* ahahah
This is objectively awful...but it gets a thumbs up for all the John Frusciante! LOL!
