The game does autosave but the saves are pretty few and far between (generally only happening at major transition points) so you shouldn't really rely on them at all. Huh, didn't know you could just time him out there as you can actually fight him and damage him enough to make him leave (though it doesn't actually change things as the air raid siren just sounds after doing enough damage) Love how Maria just steps right into James line of sight as he's gazing across the lake just about to possibly remember something and then they pan the camera back to the lake and you see the light once James has turned away And yeah, the changes they make actually end up filling in a bit of a larger narrative. It's done subtly enough that if you hadn't played the original you probably wouldn't even notice (outside of wondering what the weird moments of vertigo are) but it really adds to the experience if you have played before
I really am enjoying the little spots of memory and the changes made to the game. The reason I tried timing him out is that it is what I used to do in the original game. I think becuase I was just very low on ammo or something that I accidentally discovered you don't actually have to fight him. So I will try that every time now XD
