    Baltimore DID NOT just turn around and steal a team. They went thirteen years with out a team. They were passed over for an expansion team for Jacksonville! After all other options were exhausted, they enticed the Browns to move to Baltimore. It was done in the open. The NFL immediately gave Cleveland another team, and they were allowed to keep the name and history. If Cleveland was not awarded a team, they would most likely tried to get another team to move there
    In the early 80s, many cities were opposed to spending tens of millions of dollars for wealthy owners to have new stadiums. That has changed over the years. Irsay was a drunk, and a buffoon. He was widely considered the worst owner in all major sports at the time. He would say one thing one day, and deny it the next. He was difficult to deal with. The City offered $25 million in upgrades to Memorial Stadium, which used to sell out every game before Irsay bought the team. The only good thing about the Colts moving was getting rid of Irsay!.

      What more could you do to Memorial Stadium, it opened in the early 50s

    Threatening to seize the team was a bush move that cost Baltimore their franchise. How much did they spend to get the browns to move?

    Reading about the Colts move to Indianapolis years later, Baltimore Deserved to Lose the Colts, and why, the city of Baltimore no longer supported the team, and the main reason why, Because Baltimore was Stupid enough not to build a new stadium for the Colts, no wonder they moved to Indianapolis!!!!

    • @AirWorthyTours
      @AirWorthyTours  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly! And they would end up building a new stadium for the Ravens.

      The reason attendance was down , was because Irsay alienated the fans. Baltimore sold out every game for the years before Irsay bought the team. He was a drunk, and an idiot. He would never pay the players what they asked. He would say one thine one day, and contradict himself the next. He was impossible to deal with. Eminent Domain was a last ditch effort to prevent the move.

      @@AirWorthyTours Not to mention Memorial Stadium In Baltimore was an aging Stadium which was not a fit Stadium for Modern Football anyway, no wonder the Colts moved to Indianapolis!!!!

    If it wasn't for the Baltimore CFL Colts... err.... Stallions, who knows if Baltimore would have been viable to Art Modell (may he rot in... you know where).

    Your timeliness is off 2 years because Irsay contacted indy in 1982 that's why the Hoosier Dome was built on a possible move.

      It's not, I mentioned that Irsay contacted a number of cities prior to 1984, with Indy being included.
