    Hi Lisa, Thank you thank you. From this tuturial in 24 hours I have been able to create an app for my manager that tracks meetings, activities, tasks and people!! So powerful. I have learn't so much from all your tutorials. Please don't stop!! The back end info about security roles was extremely helpful too! The only issue I have is getting the colours into the app. In a previous tutorial you did it explained going to the classic version. I have tried both and either it's take time to sync and I'm not patient or I've done something wrong. Are you open to topics for some new tutorials? i have a long list

    This tutorial gave me a lot of clarity on Forms and Views. I just completed my Power Up challenge course but didn't quite understand Forms and Views, but thanks to your tutorial I now do.
    I wish you could do one on Power FX.

    Thanks Lisa, great tutorial, One gotcha that made the import fail was changing the format of the date fields in my personalised setting to a different format to the Date Time fields in the csv files made it fail. I changed them back and now it works. I was then able to update my Personalised settings after the import.

    • @LisaCrosbie
      @LisaCrosbie  13 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, that's a gotcha, sorry. I work in dd/mm/yyyy format but did the original spreadsheets and demo in the US date format. Your spreadsheet needs to be consistent with your setup. Next time I will pick dates that work either way!

    I am new, VERY new, to Power Apps. On a 0-10 scale, I am likely at zero. I just began the video this morning, but so far it has been quite helpful ... even though I will have to rewatch many times before I can sustain air under my wings and fly from the nest. Lisa's comprehension, content and delivery are ALL excellent.
    Thank you Lisa ... your timing releasing this video on this topic is perfect for me.

    Thank you, Lisa, for providing this tutorial at no cost. I must say, I learned a great deal from this two-hour video, which kept me captivated throughout the session. It would be excellent if you could create a video explaining the various security roles, detailing the differences between them, such as the capabilities of a Basic User compared to an Environment Maker, and identifying the highest level of role, among others.

    An excellent video! Thoroughly enjoyed the course, many thanks Lisa! I had a minor issue importing the Applications.csv file, but I realised that is due to the 'Interview Start Time' being in US date format, whereas I needed it to be in dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm (UK format), but once you change the dates to the desired format, it works perfectly! Thanks.

    This is a great place to start when you know nothing about Power Apps. Thank you so much for putting this out there Lisa. I watched the complete tutorial and had the working app at the end. In the beginning of the tutorial (~11:10), you talk about packaging the solution and moving it around to test or debugging environments. Do you have a tutorial about how to do that?
    Again, thank you for making this available.

      Thanks, great ideas for other videos. (and no you can't restrict a user to a certain step in the business process flow, I think the closest is you could restrict access to editing a field that is required to move it along)

    Lisa, thank you for this guide, I watched in bite-sized chunks while eating lunch! First viewing to take it all in, second will be as I go along and attempt to recreate! Thanks for being comprehensive, understandable and honest, it is much appreciated. One question I've got is could you do a model driven app using Lists rather than Dataverse tables, as that's where all my info lies at the moment?

    • @LisaCrosbie
      @LisaCrosbie  17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You can use lists as virtual tables in Dataverse and build your model-driven app on top of that - have a look at this video: th-cam.com/video/mEZSsx8B5HE/w-d-xo.html

  • @busyshah
    @busyshah หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    My notes
    34:56 - Set up fields for search | Quick Find Active ...
    37:50 - Important steps before creating a table (check out the option for 'Creating a new activity')
    40:10 - Changing the name of Primary Column of a new table (to preferably make it an autonumber)
    49:56 - Creating Relationship between tables
    01:20:26 - Enabling Global search bar in the model driven power app, by checking off the option 'Enable offline Classic'
    01:24:15 - Setting up timezoe for each user
    01:26:02 - HOW THIS APPLICATION IS USED AND WHAT IS TIMELINE
    01:29:08 - Import the data from excel
    01:33:10 - Log of previous uploads
    01:34:10 - Importing a table with relationship to other table
    01:39:04 - End user can customize to add or remove fields of their choice in the view
    01:41:35 - Quick create form. To quickly add data into a record without actually clicking the record and launching the main form. This should appear side by side of a record just by hovering (check).
    01:43:26 - Quick create View. Small window of data to view the records side by side inside a record (read only). Create this on the table inside which records are saved then add it in the other table to show extra RELATED records from another table. e.g. If we want to show candidate's info in the application table, create a quick view form in the candidate table, but show it side by side inside the main form of application table by selecting related items (01:45:58).
    01:47:07 - Control what fields of lookup table you want to show in the intellisence drop down (max 3 fields allowed for nice legible view)
    01:48:51 - Show sub-grid. i.e. inside a view, show all related records from other table
    01:52:19 - PowerApps Grid Control - Beautify with colors
    01:54:11 - Aggregation of fields is also allowed. Not covered in this one, try and research more. This can be useful.
    01:55:00 - Custom Pages - These are like canvas app design within the Model Driven PowerApps solutions to show as a welcome page or any summary page we want. Basically a functionality to use canvas apps inside model driven solution
    02:17:13 - Security Roles and Privileges - Hierarchical organizational level roles and the accesses. Read more about what are they, rather than how are they used. Also find out which environment it should be done at (development or production).
    02:19:50 - Share the app with the user. Please not that security role is assigned first before sharing the app. Also find out how can we create groups of people to share the apps at once rather than individually sharing the app.

    I have found it incredibly useful. In fact, I have a project to develop, and this course covers 50% of it. The other 50% will involve developing an application for employee management once they have been hired. Do you have any tutorials for this? It would be great to have them; additionally, I need to know how to integrate both systems so that they function as one. This way, a user with the appropriate permissions would only see the recruitment section, while Human Resources would have access to the other section, and the general administrator would be able to see both. I greatly appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge and help us. Of course, I would be happy to buy you a coffee.😊

    • @LisaCrosbie
      @LisaCrosbie  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don’t have a tutorial for employee management but you can use the same principles as shown here to create your data model and app. You can use the same environment and create a new app with additional tables and its own navigation for that employee management side, then control the permissions with user roles so only the right users have access to that other app and the tables it uses. Good luck!

    Hey Lisa, I am a big fan of you in the power platform conference last year..I've been following your tutorials on creating Model-Driven Apps and I'm currently developing an ERP system using this platform. I've found your videos incredibly helpful and informative.
    However, as I delve deeper into the project, I'm starting to have some concerns about the potential costs associated with Dataverse storage. I understand that 1 GB of storage is currently priced at $40 per month, but I'm struggling to grasp how much data that actually represents in practical terms, especially when considering storing invoices and receipts data (not documents), and other relevant information for an entire ERP system.
    I would greatly appreciate your insights on data usage and cost optimization and tips and I'm particularly interested in your opinion on whether proceeding with Model-Driven Apps for my ERP is the most cost-effective and efficient solution in the long run.
    Thank you for your time and expertise. I look forward to hearing from you.

    Hello Lisa, thanks for putting these tutorials together, I have learnt heaps from them so appreciate you sharing your knowledge. I have a question regarding M:M relationships and whether you can store an attribute with this relationship. I'm in a situation where I have project managers related to clients, I would like to store some information about the relationship that exists between these two, for instance the type of relationship. Is this possible or do I need to build the 'cross over' table my self and manage with a M:1 and M:1? Look forward to hearing how this might be done.... and if you looking for another example for a tutorial, a basic CRM would be nice 🙂.

    • @LisaCrosbie
      @LisaCrosbie  หลายเดือนก่อน

      What you’re looking for is called an “intersect” table. If you use the out of the box N:N relationship there is an intersect table automatically created to make it work but you can’t add any fields to it. If you want to store data in that intersect table you need to create 1:N both ways. I’ll add this to my video list but in the meantime this is a really good explanation of the concept (old UI screenshots but the concept is still the same). carldesouza.com/understanding-intersect-entities-and-nn-relationships-in-dynamics-365/

    This was a very good tutorial - thank you. Quick question - have you experienced the business process workflow not showing up on the form? When I inspect the Application form I get this: Cannot read properties of null (reading 'colorNeutralBackground1') .

    Hi Lisa, another one of your fabby guides! Thank you for creating this.
    I do have a question though, the Appointments button - was the plan to hook that into the data for Interview dates?

    Thanks so much Lisa... great presentation as usual. I had an issue in that the search bar is replaced by a magnify glass, but I assume that is because of "version" that my company uses... I have seen that this type of view has changed over time that my organisation has been developing their D365 migration

      I’ve seen that happen when your browser zoom is high, try dropping that down. It’s a responsive application so things on the screen change to fit.

    Thank you very much for sharing this updated version. I like how fast and simplified one can create tables in Dataverse. I'm currently working on a Helpdesk solution and struggling with deciding whether to use model-driven or canvas for my app. I've seen Helpdesk templates and other tutorials using canvas and perhaps I should use canvas. Do you know of any tutorial or template that I can follow for model-driven? I'd really like to use model-driven. Thank you.

    Great tutorial! Thanks for that! But .. am I correct in seeing two Application tables? I've found a System table and a Custom one (my own). This caused me some confusion when adding the tables to the app at 1:17:45. I couldn't find an option not to show system tables and the interface has changed a bit when selecting tables. I ended up selecting them both and in the navigation pane removing the one that gave me a blank page instead of the Active Applications view. Also, I couldn't find the icons you are using but that's not an issue at all. Nonetheless a fantastic tutorial! Love to see more.

      I’ve checked one of my environments and you’re right; there is a standard Application table. One option if it’s confusing is to change the display name of your table to something like “Job Applications”. So hard to have content that keeps up with the user interface changes but glad you were able to find your way through it.

    Great video! You hit on a question I've been having about choosing between the User table and Entra table. Could you do a video that explains why someone would choose one or the other? In my organization, the User table includes far more info and pre-designed views and forms and I think it also includes the Entra ID which could be used for getting related info. Neither table had manager or org info which would have been nice for the hierarchy to generate.

      I’ve had a lot of requests for this, it’s on my (long!) list. Essentially user only gives you the licensed users in the environment- so if you have an app or environment that is used organisation wide or where the lookup is only needed to connect people who use the app you can use that. But if you want everyone including unlicensed users you need to use the Entra ID table

    This is an incredible guide thank you Lisa. Just out of curiosity, if one wanted to build a SaaS application and have many Power App clients using it, would this be the best way to go? If not, how would you recommend to approach it.

    • @LisaCrosbie
      @LisaCrosbie  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You can have multiple Power Apps connected to a single data source, if that's what you mean?

    • @Cabrone-g8d

      @@LisaCrosbie I guess the key would be to set up multi-tenancy on the external data source in question. I think I'm just still a little confused by the ecosystem. If I have 10 clients who want to use my apps, do I have to recreate the power app for each client or is there the notion of a plugin I can release in the Microsoft Ecosystem that they can just download and I could customize for them?
