But why Ukraine is fighting and sacrificing their lives for NATO expansion. Ukraine is not member of NATO yet they are fighting for its xpansion.
They even rejected peace deal and agreed to kill as many Russians as they could. The peace that Russia put on the table meant stopping the war, with Ukraine as a country but just refuse to fight proxy war for someone who wanted to fight Russia since the days of Cold War.
No one can claim that he's not aware that it has been US campaign to crush Russia. When Cuba hosted Russia in their country the US quickly confronted Cuba.

Bakhmut is strategic as its where over 50,000 Russian soldiers/mercenaries died, 100,000 were wounded and vast resource were spent there rather than somewhere else. The Russians keeps sending newbies there and they are exterminated very quickly. The battles around there are also major messes. At Vuhledar the Russians lost 130 tanks and hundreds of men. The whole idea is to destroy the Russian Army not recapture a destroyed city.
Mercenaires are private contractors and are not russian soldiers.

Russia only has held Bakhmut since they took it in May so the area around it only has hastily constructed defenses. Nothing at all like what they built in the south. However now that the rainy season is a few weeks away, they will have six months to build up the defenses around the city. I saw a report in Times of India this morning that North Korea is to provide construction workers (among other things) for Russia, supposedly to help build cvilian infrastructure in the annexed areas. However, if you believe these construction workers won't be building defensive structures too you probably watch CNN. By next Spring, Bakhmut and the entire area in a 360 degree circle around it will resemble the surface of the Death Star.
Russia can't even build toilets for its own citizens, let alone a death star.
