    Finally! Vivid Iceland has hit the high seas and sailed to the tiny island chain just off the south coast of the mainland - The Westman Islands. I’ve been planning to visit this place again ever since I first went there back in 2020. Absolutely stunning scenery and an amazing way of life - not an episode to be missed…
    Enjoy!

    We're so excited to announce that we are now taking bookings for many of the locations we've featured in our videos - guided by none other than us here at Vivid Iceland! Check out our website www.vividiceland.is for more information. We are now offering tours to the newly formed volcano in Reykjanes as well as a bunch of tours on the south coast of Iceland and a few in the "Adventurer's Playground" - Skaftafell - located in Iceland's southeast.
    So head on over to www.vividiceland.is to see what we have on offer for this coming summer - we hope to see you here soon!

    Glad I found your vid about Vestmannaeyjar, thanks. Spent the best two weeks with my daughter last September driving the entire ring road plus some extra goodies. Returning this August for another two weeks alone and plan a day trip to Vestmannaeyjar. Is it worth bringing the car over on the ferry? Or will I be fine leaving it at Landeyjahöfn?

      Thanks - I'm so glad my video was helpful to you! It sounds like you had an amazing trip with your daughter last September.
      Now in regards to bringing your car over on the ferry:
      It's not really necessary to have a car on the island, as there are plenty of transportation options available once you get there (rental bikes, e-scooters etc.).
      If it's only for the day then you'll have plenty to see and do all well within walking distance. If you did decide to stay a night, then I would recommend bringing the car over.

      Thanks for your quick and helpful reply. I will leave the car at the harbour and rely on my boots while on Heimaey😊 and now the next six months may pass quickly so I can set foot on your beautiful island again!

    Great video! What is the location of that ship wreck at the beginning of your trip? Thanks

      @VividIceland  20 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      It's quite close to the harbour where the ferry departs from on the mainland. Maybe about a 20 minute walk to the west of it along the black beach. You can see it from the harbour parking lot. Hope this helps!

      @@VividIceland Here is what I found. Apparently it was a cargo ship that burned down in 1974. "..the remains of a Swedish cargo ship Sigurður Gísli, VE 127, built in 1946, that caught fire in 1974 while sailing from the Westman Islands. The ship was carrying a cargo of cement and timber when it ignited, forcing the crew to abandon the ship immediately. The burning vessel was eventually beached at Landeyjahöfn, where it was left to deteriorate without any attempt to salvage or repair it. Today, the wreck is still visible on the beach at Landeyjahöfn, but it is just an irreparable piece of history."

    Great video! How long did it take to climb Heimaklettur? Also, from the town docks to the start of the climb?

    • @VividIceland
      @VividIceland  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, glad you liked it!
      I would say it takes maybe an hour or so to climb Heimaklettur. It's honestly not a very long climb/hike, there are just some slow points where you have to use the ladders and the chains to make your way around certain areas.
      If you walk from the main harbour/docks, it would take between approximately 15 minutes to reach the starting point of the climb. Might take a bit longer if you stop to take photos or check out some of the other sights along the way.
      Hope this helps!
