- Jam with me on this Dm slow blues call and response jamming track. I will play the first 8 beats then, you play the next, we will then alternate in the same way throughout the track.
Please send me your jams with this track for my new page in creation on my website.
Use this to master your jamming and listening skills in real time. Try to copy me and see what happens and take note of the dynamics and again try to mimic the up's and downs...
Have fun... I will post more of these as we go..

Just told myself I wasn't going to play along a recording because the soloist takes too much space already, and backing tracks feel so empty with no one to virtually interact with. So I looked for call and response backing track and here you are. Good Job, thank you
Hey. That’s great. Pleased you found this. I have a few of them on TH-cam. More to come too.
One day ill be good enough to play along.... #loveIt
Love that slow Dm blues sound so cool!
Thank you for this! I've watched your other Dm solo a hundred times (and will watch another hundred times), but this one, I will try to play. I just absolutely love your playing, style, sound, etc. Again, thank you! I will now pick up my strat.
Ah cool. Thank you for enjoying the jams. Have fun with this one and see how you get on. Cheers Danz
Your playing is exactly to the tee the type of playing I aspire to. But, I just can't see any mere mortal like myself ever come near this level of ability.
Yes you can..Keep practicing
Thing is, he's probably been playing for over a decade now, i'm assuming, which is why his chops are where they are in the video. Keep at it, it's a slow process, but a beautiful end product.
It’s a process of playing over and with many different types of band and jamming tracks you can whilst also listening and working through scales and licks to build the vocabulary. I do have a series called #lickfriday which is now on the 313th lick! Build on the vocabulary and you will learn so much even if you don’t use all the licks all the time. Keep at it mate, and yes I’ve been play for over a decade that for sure.
Luv Dm for the blues,, 😁✌
Dang . That was awesome. Thanks

I enjoyed it on the hammond organ!
I would like to see that in a video. Tag me/mention me if you do a vid.
My response........Superb!!! :-)
brilliant.
Brilliant!
I like this one tons!
Tons.... Cool. Thank you.
Beautiful playing.
Thanks.
Like that Danny..Thanks for your Posts ✌️
No probs Steve
dat was awesome thanks for joining me.
A few incredible things that I noticed about this that blew my mind. 1st the 1/2 half step bend from the 2nd to the 3rd. You enforce your bends with string support and your pick attack in specific bends with an aggressive initial downstroke pick another brilliant approach. Your intentional use of the 2nd creates an impressive texture. Your attack and timing is mesmerizing!
That’s great the you notice these things about my playing. In all honestly though I play as I feel without a path to lead. Licks learnt over the years sink in and the technique used carries to my overall sound. Thanks for the cool comment. Danny
Hi Danny....I just subscribed, you are one of the best blues players I have heard.
Very kind mate. Hope you are still enjoying this video.
Great groove! I'll be trying to jam along later! Thanks for sharing your skills and ideas with us!!
No worries..
Ahhhaha top class man, very good idea
Cool. Will be recording more of these and doing some Live TH-cam Call and Response sessions too, so what out for those.
Great pinky work , I been working my pinky finger into riffs keep missing strings but will keep on ..
This was lots of fun Danny! I don't have anyone to play with so this was really cool to do with someone.
Awesome. Will do more of these for sure..
Nice concept for the video, can defo see this being a useful excercise
Yep. Jam your way to be able to play.....thats what I say!
Your blues licks are amazing. You deserve more subscribers. Thanks
Ah thank you. They keep coming each month but it’s very slow.
I looked this up to have someone to jam on my drums to. Thank you.
Cool. I would like to see a video of that. Let me know if you do that, and I will feature it on my website.
Muitooooo boooom !!!
Your phrasing and timing is impeccable
Que buen tono y que buen gusto para tocar.
Thank you very much. Unfortunately I don’t have this guitar anymore and I really miss playing it.
Muito bom
Sounds awesome ...not much room for a second guitar response though ..
I think I’ve given the same amount of beats as I had but, yes it does feel short. Great for the brain and jumping into action.
Sorry. Did not work for me. I kept forgetting to respond I was so engrossed and enthralled by your fantastic playing :) .
Haha! Keep going at it and it should become easier to get the timing! I can take a bit of getting used to thats for sure. I certainly couldn't keep up with my teachers when I was having lessons but through the wonder of time and trial and error!! It became easier!
you know what ists kinda odd to explain but it was my first time tring to respond. But been like a conversiation. On my real conversations some times i am over talking anothers. i dont know if you get me. i did the same sometimes. But was fine to me. Just a bit different way, coz some times we talk over eachothers some times said the same. its about to go kinda wrong. im out. But seriously love it.
Practice practice my friend...Memphis Dave
Mr.Danny, would you mind showing your variations of Am pentatonic at 17th fret , a little bit difficult following your fast fingering at that position, thank you Mr.Danny, you are 0my teacher
What equipment are using when playing your guitar? Are u running it thru software. Are using effects pedals and what amp?
Very useful to all blues enthusiasts !pls suggest a suitable title for the conversation to widen our imagination and make it more interesting
GuitaR Rajesh Hi. Thanks for the comment. I’m sure I understand you comment though. Can you elaborate please.
What's that purple guitar in the background? Nice playing by the way.
I started playing and stopped to listen. It's just a great solo on it's own.
Also, do you have stuff on spotify? I'd love to listen
Hi Danny
Awesome blues, really !
Do you think it could be possible to have the tab of it, it will be kind of you.
Anyway thanks for the share
Really digging this video…and the sound! What type of amp and stompbox are you using? Thanks!
How do you get that tone? What's the tone called (if it has a name)
Please release the backing track!
The backing track can be found on spotify and apple music
Wt really pedal for blues?
Hi Danny , like all songs have a title ,i felt the blues call and response would sound more meaningful with one portraying the emotional situation for eg.sad bl c&r ,bored bl c&r etc etc
GuitaR Rajesh Hi, honestly I thought the title was quite precise to the idea of the video. Bored blues C&L!!! Seriously! You think that would work. Sad blues yep, but that kinda Slow blues. I would hope most people get sad blues from Slow blues but I could be wrong. Let me know what title you would choose and I will see how it works out. Cheers.
Fantastic! Danny, what is the signal chain for your lead tone, In know 90% is your playing, but our of curiosity.... It just sounds fantastic! Would love to try and get close with my L6 Helix.... Thanks for this!
ckjjclan Cool thank you 👍🏼 So the chain is Guitar, boss tu2, The Dude (by j rocket), Vox Ice 9 and then into my Blackstar HT club 40 deluxe clean channel. That’s it. I mainly use the Dude for the overdrive tone and the ice 9 is a boost for a little extra gain and volume when needed. The rest is controlled via volume on the guitar. Easy setup but sounds great. ✌️
ckjjclan Forgot to add that it’s A direct out to Logic and Rodeo stereo camera mic mixed together for the audio but this seems to give the closest sound to the sound I hear in the room when recording.
uhhh, you played 6 beats on one off like the whole time. when do I get to play?
Fret Fanatic In the gaps. Typical call and response mate. It’s not all regimented and clinical. A rough guide of 4 beats is a good reference point to use but some times a lick needs more/or less. It’s all about listening and playing off each other.
EXACTLY...no space to respond...
@ You have gaps of same length as I played. You have to really listen and follow the beat to make it work. If your rhythm isn’t good (not saying yours is not) it will be difficult to start with. I guess this would be more of a structured QnA than in real life face to face jam. Keep trying and tap your foot and it will work.
Jesus fucking christ you're good. How did you get so good at improv? Lots of backing track practice?
Jamming with people and songs or dedicated jam tracks. With plenty of lick learning and scale practice.
Nice slow blues, you are a very good player man...
Can we find the backing track on you tube.
Robert B. Thom
Yep it’s linked in the description and on Apple Music or the like.
please forgive my ignorance and or inquisitiveness danny but is it possible
to find out about
your musical
history anywhere?
someone with your sublime guitar skills surely can't have escaped playing in
the big league somewhere sometime!?
any band offered your
guitaring services
would have to
be utter fools
to say no!!
i'd love to know the answers to questions
like when did you start playing guitar were you a child prodigy who taught you to play do you play any other instruments
have you played or
recorded solo or in a band how many and
which guitars do you
own have you played with any of the greats how long do you practise
each day do you play all musical genres etc etc.
i'm not trying to be invasive of your privacy
but if the information's
out there somewhere
please point me in the
right direction to find it.
it's nice to be able to put
the playing into the
context of the player.
wonderfully played
again here and no for me
distracting how to do it
aspects but just another
one of your guitar solos for my playlist pure
and unadulterated!!
exactly how i like it
and so pleasant to be able to just listen and
absorb the music
without worrying
about whether the
player's skill levels are
top notch or not.
with your playing i can
just relax and enjoy!!
thanks for posting
from one of your
non-playing fans.
Not big league at all, and as far as I know there isnt any info on me out there as I'm an unknown player. I've played for various bands and projects along the way but none of them big or anywhere near big! Right now I play for a band called Long John and The Killer Blues Collective. We have an album out and is in physical and streamable formats. Few festivals this year and a Rolling Stones celebration show coming up next month as special guest to a band called The Dirty Strangers. Thats all though! One of my teachers was a guy called Dave Kilminster who now plays for Roger Waters, he is awesome and taught me a whole load as well as my first guitar teacher 'Dave King' who used to play for Lulu, was such a great mentor and inspiration, and pushed my playing in the right direction without trying to manipulate the playing style. I have loads of guitars and my faves are always used in the videos you see... Thanks for enjoying the video.
Danny Page
i had to look twice
but it really is you

sometime soon!
they look an excellent
group as well!
thanks for the personal
info it's kind of you to
let me know and i've
enjoyed researching it!
cheers.🎸🤗🎶
Why are my bars shorter than yours? I thought it was 50/50.
It is for the most part. I do tail off the licks rather than abruptly cutting if after the 6th 8th not triplet. Play it back and count again and you will hear the split clearly. It’s a very short space to fill.
Very good, man ! Are you playing în a (blues) band ? You have any album we can listen ?
You live in UK ? Are you + band touring there ...?
No band right now no. Looking for a band actually.
This one is good, but I don't think it fits the "practice call and response" model with the student/listener. You're answering your calls. The playing is fantastic. But if an "answering" lick from the listener is played, the whole thing just becomes constant note playing. Perhaps it's because I can't create a musical "response" quickly enough for that tempo and time signature? I'll jam with it first time tomorrow and see what shakes out. Love the videos though 💯
Where are you from Dan?
The UK mate.
Nice playing, but I’m not sure playing for 75% of the counts is what I would call call and response.
You are mean to fill the spaces. It’s a jam with me video. I leave the same space after each few beats I played.
It works but is sometime difficult to get across on video. Cheers.
Woah...grave disappointment. I thought, "this sounds like fun", got the guitar, then it seemed like you hogged all the spaces. Obviously I missed which were my 6 bars. So I put the guitar down and listened to your licks. Very nice. But I really wanted to pay along....
Well, there is plenty of space and equal space to the playing I provided. It can be tricky as I’m not in the room with you so it’s a static video (in a way) but if you continue to jam with it you will know where the spaces are and find the rhythm with it. Give it another go. PS “Grave disappointment” that’s quite and extreme reaction I believe. Thanks for enjoying the lick anyway, but please give it another shot and allow for the fact that you have no control over the video (unless you start-stop it etc). Cheers matey.
@@DannyPage Sorry, lad - 'grave disappointment' sounded good in my head, but came out too strong in the comment. I did give it another shot, I reckon it's my lack of experience, I'm expecting a more simple rhythm so your fill licks were (actually 'are') confusing me. Apologies if I sounded critical, I am very much a fan of your playing and grateful for anyone who makes the effort to put up free stuff for the rest of us lazy bar stewards. Onward and upward, chaps, I'll get it eventually....
That was calling response, really?
Nope is was ‘Call and response’. What would you have called it? Curious to know.
@@DannyPage I would call excellent playing on your part. Obviously you're quite experienced. Your phrasing is excellent. My one caveat would be that there seems to be no question and answer. Call and response to me is a conversation. This would be more of a trading licks situation for me. Also you seem to be taking more and more measures as the song progresses. It was difficult for me to squeeze in. All that being said I really did enjoy your playing good job
cars nguitars I understand. The idea behind this and one other video on my channel was to leave the gap for the response for ‘you’ the player or video watcher to fill the gap with your answer. If you listen, there is an equal sized gap of bars left to fill. If you are a player, and would like to give it a go, let me me know what you think or even record a video of you playing along with me. Cheers.
