I’m 47 in a month .. adore this band .. 86 is when I really got into them .. it’s hard to imagine fletch dying .. really hit me harder than even Cornell “I’m in Seattle “ Violator and songs of faith were hard to beat.. Delta got sooooo close .. i give a lot of credit to Flood for coming back to mix
I discovered them almost 3 years ago, I hate the fact I discovered them so late in life but,all that matters to me in my eyes these guys just get better with each new album
Dave looks old? I think he looks fantastic. Yes he is older it's 2016 not 1981.Love DM for so many years. And his voice is brilliant . Dave looks better than ever!
I remember as a kid watching them on TV live at Alton Towers. Four (at the time) young guys. Who would have thought some 30 years later they would not only still be going but producing their most inspired works. What a legacy. Consummate professionals. Incredible artists.
It´s fun to se how a band like Depeche is still active and doing records in 2014. I mean after all internal struggles. Alans departure. And when you look how Dave was like in the mid ninetees it feels like its a fuckin miracle that the man is getting up from his bed every morning. These guys have sold over a hundred million records since the early 80:s and they could, if they want, just retire and call it a day. Martin could have just sit there at the beach of Santa Barbara with a Margarita in his hand and just think: "Hey. This is life". But he don´t do it. He still makes music and records after all these years. Thats passion...
grimlund I've often thought the same thing. How would I handle that kind of fame....I think my mind would be wandering off to where my next vacation would be....you do what you love and you never spend a day 'working'! They are all awesome human beings and I feel that they genuinely enjoy what they do and that includes pleasing us, the fans! I'll never mind spending the price of a concert ticket to see them, cause it's always a good show. Dave gives his all every time he performs! Cheers to all DM fans!
I remember when i heard heaven the first time, one of they're best songs from delta machine, the delta machine album was my 1st time seeing depeche mode live 15/01/2014 in barcelona,i was so excited... this year, i saw them twice, in Manchester and Glasgow ,amazing ...this band is another level. Love them so much❤
People only want the same thing over n over again...whatever it was they think was exciting for them. Violator 2 or something. It would be nice to see DM play a show for once and not hear “Enjoy the silence” and NEver let me Down” for once. Take some risks. Screw the hits
What an amazing band, I absolutely adore their unique sound, which has matured over the years, and they make me love electronic music even more than I do. These guys are getting better as the years pass. Also, I love the fact that, despite the time(s) their relationship wasn't going well, they have enormous respect for one another. True professionals, really down to earth people. In short: priceless individuals, priceless band. I hope they'll bless us with their music for a long time to come. Love from Greece.
Delta Machine has grown on me more than any other DM album. I’ve always liked it, but it has slowly become one of my favorite albums. Some truly fantastic songs on this record, of course Heaven, but also Broken, The Child Inside, Should Be Higher, Alone, and Goodbye. The combination of delta blues and the machine driven sound is tuned to perfection. It really is a masterpiece, kudos not only to the boys, but also Ben Hillier and all other people involved in creating this record. My fiancé and I even got matching tattoos of the DM logo in the Delta Machine font. Plus, I’ve seen them live for the first and only time on the Delta Machine tour in Belgrade. Patiently waiting for the next (overdue) album!
40 years of making great music . I don’t know if any other band that can create such as philosophical great music and evolve with time. I still miss Alan . Too sad he left . Martin Dave and Alan were always complementing each other . If you watch them speak throughout the years , watch them speak about music, new projects etc . It’s almost like watching the fuel to spark up the engine and fire up the pistons . I strongly feel they should bring Alan for at least one concert before they retire in the future and record it in 4K super duper HD video format for the future generations to watch later and admire the talent . Hopefully they would never retire but I am a realist .LOL
Don't be fooled. Besides playing keyboard and occasional samples, Fletch handles almost all of the management and legal issues of the band. Which is a lot of work and serious effort for a band like Depeche Mode.
I've sat and watched all of these docs on their albums and it amazes me Dave has barely changed in terms of how he looks, except maybe looking a bit better!
In my simple opinion...I never seen before, so much creation together. Depeche Mode are amazing band during years and continue the same way. All components inside and outside band are fantastic musicians and everybody feel in each concert. Power, soul in love in each music execution, facial and voice expressions, bright in all music letters, chords, everything. I'm other side of the world but I feel this admiration to this band since years. I'm from Brasil. Greetings DM, from Brasil. Greetings to all friends around this world.
When I saw the Tour of the Universe EPK it left me quite sad. Dave sounded like he was gonna stop making music. Delta Machine came around and I was so thrilled and now seeing this. It looks and feels like they're gonna keep making more music even after this tour. I'm glad they aren't stopping after this. I saw them in Houston in September and I swear it was the best!
I just discovered Depeche Mode and bought the new album a few weeks ago. I haven't heard the whole album yet but what I've heard so far is amazing. Interesting documentary. I like how they talk about the beauty of recording. I have to say I'm becoming a fan.
Every album after the previous one is the epitomy of what DM stands for. It's not evolution, it's a controlled escalation of their music running deep into my soul. It's pure poetic passion that, in any other form, would be incomprehensible to man. Delta Machine = DM.
Delta Machine tour is truly aaaaamazing! This is my first DM concert, even being a fan science 10 could not afford before... Hearing Martin life is breathtaking, crying like idiot, such a happy memory left...
All musics from DM are always very different. Have a particular sign, because all play and speak everything, ideas, solutions, sounds, behaviors... DM are active because a one of a unique bands with a sucess explosion without forget essence. Thanks for sharing. Greetings from Brasil, Gilberto Mendes,
Me too, Im not sure if they even fully realize what do they mean to people. It's not just a band.. They're your freind, they're your comfort, they're your escape, you're feelings, often soundtrack to your life. It' way more than they think I guess, to many including myself...
I love Martin's wardrobe. I just really love his style, and I love how close they are compared to how they were in the early 90s. They're a more cohesive unit without Alan than they were with him. Dave's vocals alone are more experimental and now he's writing as well, and I love it a lot more now than I did when Alan was with the group. "Goodbye" sounds like a bluesier version of "I Feel You" 4:05 is SoFaD Mart when he got talking about religion and sex at the launch party. Dave at 5:22 is me always.
30 years I love them... always so much talent, the voice of Dave and the incredible talented creativity of Martin are still as wonderful. If you read me, thanks to you to offer as much small masterpieces to each album I kiss you on the cheek as we do in France :)
Love to hear the guys talking about their work. It’s fun for them and that’s why every record it’s a masterpiece caused they enjoy what they do it brings out the best each of them. Love this album the sounds are amazing. The song “Broken” Dave’s voice takes it to another level. The band has all the tools: voice, melody, lyrics, sound, that amazing studio. It’s a pleasure to watch them how they come together and collaborate their ideas and thoughts. They have always been my #1 band. I extremely adored Dave Gahan’s singing and beautiful voice. D🌹M band is heaven!
Yes! Delta Blues baby...right here in my state of Mississippi. So many British artists have drawn from Robert Johnson's blues it...Elvis, (of course), the Beatles, David Coverdale, Rolling Stones etc, etc. I wish he would come down here and jam with the artists in the Delta! He sounds good singing any kind of way! I love watching them create their magic!
An amazing new album! Every time the music of Depeche Mode shoots me into another dimension. I love the electronic sound and his songs ... DM are still the best!
The album is excellent , it did take me a few listens but all in all its a progression or evolution. Remember that every DM album is different and memorable in its own particular way.
I love behind the scene stuff. It's always great to see how things get made. What's all this about Dave looking old? I think he looks awesome for a guy in his fifties and considering all the shit he put in his body in the 90s, He looks hot and his body looks to be in better shape than it was back then - he's actually got a bit of muscle on him now In fact... I think he's aging better than Martin and Fletch....
Came here to right this. That's not semi modular so no sound is being made or altered...he's literally just trying to look like he's modulating while being recorded by the camera. Or just having fun like he's been doing for years. He should get the rest of the band saved.
I wish more Bands & or Artists would document the recording process of the projects they are creating so we can truly appreciate the music and the process in which it's created, the people involved, the equipment being used & the type of energy that they are creating under. I know its impossible for a great deal of Bands to be able to afford but simply haveing a video camera around for anyone to pickup will be for the fans the ultimate insight...
Saw this video over at Rolling Stone. DM is incredible and has put out so many fantastic albums, Delta Machine is no different. Crank the volume and enjoy.
Just keep going lads........I've grown up with you....and you are still just banging out sounds and tracks that amaze. Gotta see you on your next tour.
the 80/90’s a friend from school brought me into Depeche Mode and similar music, another friend introduced me to Metallica and metal ..... the friends are gone but the music is still there.
Not many bands had to travel from so far away to convene for recording sessions - Martin lives in Los Angeles, Dave in New York and Fletch lived in London. Each band member was thousands of miles from the next one. RIP Fletch.
Go to 1.05 to see Fletch pretending to do something on a Eurorack module that isn't connected to anything. It just reinforces my feeling that his job in the band is to help fill up the room.
+Gruff F.W I mean... back in the day he was the manager of the band, he would book venues, book press, book gear... Chances are DM wouldn't be what it is without him. I guess these days he is just there for legacy, play bass parts as he used to in the old days and DJ samples in live gigs...
Play bass parts? Are you kidding? You should see EPKs for Violator and Songs of Faith and Devotion or read a book called Stripped. Fletch wasn´t even around the studio most of the time when Violator was recorded. During recording of Songs he was there during Madrid sessions which was a total disaster. They couldn´t record anything. Then they moved to Hamburg and Fletch went to a London mental facility. The Hamburg sessions were where the record was made. Daniel Miller said how frustrating it was for Alan when sometimes after spending 15 hours in a studio Fletch showed up for 5 minutes to say something what they had done and then he was gone again. Fletch doesn´t do anything in the studio!
This album surprised the shit out of me .. wasn’t expecting them coming so close to songs of faith and violator mixed together .. little bit of every later era influence .. they took the best of what they’ve done and put it on this for sound .. funny fletch says that about Martin .. I was just writing Martins mix with Dave on this one is super strong
We've grown up ourselves with these guys... What can I say? I'm 50 and still adore their music!! Big respect!🙏
I did too..
Dave said Heaven is one of the reasons he still makes music. I think that is a great compliment to Martin. Love it.
@Shaunysheep Watch the video. Dave said it.
It really is. Both Andy and Dave loved Heaven, and that says a lot. Also, Dave really loves Mart, and I hope it's vice versa because Dave is precious.
Fletch understood that DM is a business, which is why they are still making music 35 years on , and still developing the sound.
I discovered them almost 3 years ago, I hate the fact I discovered them so late in life but,all that matters to me in my eyes these guys just get better with each new album

DM is so cool that they brought Alan back to be in charge of the 2003 remasters of their catalog of music.

Martin, Dave and Andrew are genius❤

Martin lives to write .... still searching for the best song he`s ever written.. and that my friends is the mark of a true genius !
Very humble and cool guys for what is no less than the best Synth-Pop group in the world. DM has always been ahead musically.

He did a performance in 2010. That was good enough. He can stay at home now.
I love how Andy Fletcher just hangs out listening. What a fantastic gig he has. Member of Depeche Mode, job: just show up and nod.
That's right! Job? He doesn't do anything but a prop.

"I'm not good at anything else!" That's our Dave! Hilariously honest!
+Skye ID Gahan is truly a class act.
Dave can paint actually. He did some painting during his heroin years in the 90:s.
Watching him dance makes me think there's at least one other thing he's probably good at. ;)
He would be one miserable man without his musical creativity.

Thank you, DM!
