I cannot thank you enough. You saved us a boat load of money with your video. Our refrigerator that will be 5 years old in literally 7 days was croaking. It would not get cold. I watched your video and was able to fix it ourselves. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!
You are THE MAN !! I thank you SO MUCH. I am pretty capable of doing repairs myself, if I have instructions. Which you provided EXCEPTIONALLY WELL! Not only did you save me money on a service call, but you saved me money on the part! Almost half the cost on the link you provided, from the cost GE was asking on their website!! I see from comments on the GE website and from others that GE is aware of this part having issues with this needing replaced every 3-4 years. Sometimes sooner. With a service call of almost $400..on a refrigerator that cost $2500 if one needs to do this every 3 years you can rack up the price of this fridge pretty darn quick. It sounds like consumers need to gather together and do the same thing that Samsung owners did and file a Class Action Lawsuit against GE for the money we are needing to repair this issue THEY KNOW IS AN ISSUE. And what is bad…on one of their comment …they even wrote back and RECOMMENDED THAT A GOOD RESOLUTION MIGHT BE TO PURCHASE THEIR 5 YEAR WARRANTY!!! What a flipping joke!! Again, thank you for helping !!!
I replaced the part, thanks to your great video! Took less than 20 minutes! But, 2 days later I got the loud buzzing noise once again 😞. It lasts less than a minute. Doesn’t do it all the time. When I pull the refrigerator out, the sounds comes from the middle. I took the refrigerator apart again. The fan motor looks great. Spinning as it should. Is there another motor higher up? Any thoughts as to what that buzzing sound might be? Also, I noticed the motor to the left that blows air into the lower big deli drawer wasn’t spinning. Should it spin all the time? Or is it dead, and need replacing? If so, do you have a link to that? THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP
One note....even if your fan is not turning, it may still not need to be replaced. Sometimes the fan rotor and housing can develop a little ice build up that prevents the fan from turning. With the fan connected electrically, use a screwdriver or pen (but not your fingers) to just turn the blades a little in each direction and it'll break any thin ice build up and allow the fan rotor to turn again. If nothing happens after trying that, then you need a fan replacement.
From what I can tell it's probably the board not sending power. I'm about to toss mine and I'm deciding if I want to go through the trouble of checking it. To replace the fan is ok. To fix or replace the board I'll not bother. I've already replaced the fridge I've got 3 working but if it's a cheap fix I'll make room for it.
Thank you!!! This was exactly what was wrong with my fridge. Mine is a 2015 version so the fan is placed in a slightly different location. And my part has been “upgraded” to a different part number…but this was it! Tiny little fan…so many problems! Great video.
Thank you for this video!!! I was able to fix a fridge we bought for a very good price because it wasn’t cooling well in the fridge section but freezer was fine. I watched your video and ordered the parts. Works perfectly now!! It was definitely the fan!
@@beckyboo1433 just fyi - mine started having problems again and freezing up in the bottom drawer which eventually froze the drawer shut. When I finally de thawed it, it took almost 4 days due to so much ice! It then started cooling again (the ice was blocking the normal cold air until I dethawed it). I recently signed up for a home warranty plan, so I plan to give them a call soon to come look at it.
I have this same model refridgerator but I think my problem is the fan on the left side which is slightly smaller. I haven’t been able to find one that comes with the connector. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the video. What if the evaporator fan works just fine? Top of fridge isn’t getting as cool, bottom deli drawer is freezing, water dispenser is freezing and won’t dispense. Do I need to replace the deli drawer fan? Or is it another issue?
Question: I pulled the harness on the temp select zone and all the wires came off from the harness. I have the exact same fridge. Can you tell me which color wires go to which color.
We have a 1 1/2 yr old GE refrigerator and once in awhile when we open the door it beeps and we have to reset the temperature because it has changed. It seems to cool good when set to the temperature we put it at. Not sure why it changes on its own. Ideas?
If you are talking about the plastic to hold the wire in place, you don’t have to put it back in the piece of plastic just put the cover on and that’s it
Hello - thank you for the video. Very helpful. Are you able to tell me if the fan is supposed to be on all the time or does it cycle on and off? Thank you.
If you’re talking about the inside fan, approximately every 10 or eight hours turn off on defrost cycle also install models the fan is on when the doors are close if you’re talking about the outside fan by the compressor the fan supposed to be on when the compressor is on and again it will cycle every 8 to 10 hours
So therefore, if the Compressor Fan (behind fridge to right of Compressor) is on then one can assume the Compressor /Start Relay is activated and more than likely NOT the issue of the warm unit. I did not observe ice behind/around the Freezer Fan; however, this fan (Back Wall Bottom Freezer) is NOT running when I open the bottom freezer door and Hold the right Light Switch closed. I can freely turn the fan. (Could the fan not turning be due to a broken Temperature gage ( Thermistor?) or is this fan ALWAYS on except during Defrost like you stated previously? The Fan in the Top (Fridge) compartment sounds like it is on and I CAN feel air blowing at the top of the Tower; it appears to only keep the Fridge around 55 F. I would rather not take apart this back unless you think it is necessary. The Bottom Freezer fan # is WR60X25858. I would like to at least validate power is getting to the Fan to be confident on this replacement purchase. Will a Multimeter work to measure a DC current at the Bottom Freezer Fan connection and, if so, what value should I read? ANY feedback would be very much appreciated! P.S. I have a 2021 GE French Door Mod# GWE23GYNDFS
Thank you for your helpful video. I am having this issue. I replaced my fan motor and it may have help a little. I have a GE French door. Now I noticed my display indicates the refrigerator is at 37 degrees. But it is actually 46 in the refrigerator. What do you think the issue is? The temp sensor? Do you have a video on how to replace this? Thank you for all your help
My biggest question on these ge French door refrigerators is I replaced both fans in the fridge part and the fan in the freezer, why does that drain hole keep freezing solid. I took the hose off and it is clean on both ends And water runs through it without any problems.
My problem is the lower layer works good, but upper layers have almost room temperature. after replace that fan motor, my fridge back to service. Also ice maker. Thank you to save money for me!
Hey, I have a wiring question about this refrigerator. Specifically, the plug for that climate controlled drawer. My brother was cleaning his and unplugged that harness for that drawer system and the pins came out of the plug coming from the actual fridge and they apparently touched and the refrigerator shut off. Isv there a fuse or breaker in the fridge that can be reset? Or did he fry his board.
Try to Disconnect the drawer harness and leave it disconnected, and Disconnect the Refrigerator for a Couple of Hors then Plug Back in. If when you plug it back in it doesn’t Work, Then It looks like the Control Board Needs to be replaced.
How do you know it’s your fan motor before taking all of this apart? I would rather know and then order the fan that way I’m only taking everything apart once. If I take it apart now before know without the part then I’ll have to put it together wait for the part. There has got to be a way to test it before taking it apart?
Make sure the old fan is in fact dead! We assumed the fan was our issue and replaced it WITHOUT CONFIRMING THE OLD ONE WAS DEAD! Icing problem returned and the issue was the defrost heating element! Don't make our mistake. We went in to repair BEFORE diagnosing! 🤦♀️
If you're having problems with temperatures after this, you probably also need to replace the Temperature Sensor p/n WR55X10025. (Less than 10 bucks from the amazon for a two-pack.) The sensor is right smack dab in the center of the fridge ceiling under a little dome-like grill. As for the video, I liked the content, but i suggest cleaning up the kitchen clutter first before shooting. And, either get a better mic or speak up. When the commercial came on I was almost blasted out of my seat. 😳

A very helpful tip is to fill the compressor with water before regassing. Then there is no need to vacuum.
