I find it interesting that the #2 and the HG 250 are rated the same at 109 because every time I close a #2 I think to myself; "Hey this feels almost exactly as hard as my HG 250." Good to know that they are similar.

Excellent explanation. Key phrase is "the numbers assigned by the company" - if you can grasp that, you quickly realize that there is no consistent correlation between the numbers put out by different companies, AND there is no correlation between the numbers assigned by a company and the "true" numbers in terms of weight or force actually required to close the gripper as per the process described in the video. Thanks again!

Do you think these results are still good in today's environment? Perhaps Coc decided to go stronger throughout the years. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks for the knowlege.

this was a great video. i have both ironmind and HG and I tried to compare them by the numbers and quickly found out that they weren't even close just by the way they felt when you closed them. i wish that i could have seen this video before i bought them.

Yep, the ratings (at least in the case I cited) showed them to be similar. Of course you might find a real weak one or a real brick here and there of either of them, but for the most part, they are pretty close.

I would leave the RB's out. Due to their thicker handle size, they make the stroke shorter.
Yes, I would get more grippers. I'd put my eye on a 3.5 and 4 from IronMind. Even if you never close the #4 you can still use it for quality work.
    Just my thoughts.

If you measure the force to close from the end of the lever the amount of weight necessary to touch the handles is going to be less than if it were closer to the fulcrum, and because the average amount of force applied is going to be somewhere in the middle of the handle, I bet the numbers would more closely match up the the manufacturer specs.

I understand how leverage works. You aren't aware of how the numbers for the COC grippers were obtained. I do.

You might want to get a gripper in the #3 range to file down for beyond the range training.

    Hey
Is there a gripper that takes exactly 400 lbs?
    Please let me know :)

  • @gripstrength
    @gripstrength  12 ปีที่แล้ว

@NBeev1 Yeah, that gripper I have is so darned old, it came out before the .5 did. I am just guessing, but the .5 probably truly rates at less than 100-lbs.

@paulknight3 Paul, Thank you and feel free to post this around so other people get this information. What other common questions are you getting? Maybe I can put together a video for it?

  • @NBeev1

Just to note Ironmind now do a .5 gripper rated at 120lbs.

Viktor E Grippers vary. I'm sure they're in the neighborhood of what I have I the board in red

      Yeah but question is.
I'm about to get the GHP 5 since it's between #2 and #2.5
But I don't want it to be wrong
#2 is rated at 105 and GHP 5 at 115
But I wanna be 100% sure before I order.

Did he rate the gripper (is it pre-rated) or are you reading an average?
