Well the main goal of companies is to make users spend more time on platform AND make money with it, they dont care about controlling recommendations. Shorts make us spend more time and discover more. Long form of content actually makes more money and make users spend more time on platform. So a combination of this is gonna make companies more money. And in the end that's what they want.
@@rohithkumarbandari And who pays that money? Advertisers. The platform will always be biased to who its source of money is. Advertisers are their customers not the users.
@@kopasz777 Well obviously, but how does that justify you implying they care more about control than money ? Because having more retention of users means they see more ads. Disappointing tbh. I enjoyed the video, I would have watched it anyway with a more accurate title and thumbnail, but it was soured. I agree, I didn't once come back to the red circle shown on the thumbnail. Funny enough those Red Big circles are the 'secret' behind clickbait. (I hope we had the same thumbnail otherwise this comment might be quite confusing, since larger creators can use multiple Thumbnails at the start to check the effectiveness)
I would say it did make sense. The way the internet works is, when you see someone's photograph in a circle, you intuitively know that you can tap the icon to go to that person's profile/page/whathaveyou. Like, if I click on your "circle" I'll go to your TH-cam channel, and if I clicked on your circle on say, Twitter, it would go to your profile. So the thesis of the video really is, "this UI element conveys function inherent to its shape and position on the screen.

11:05 - I wanna make an objection to this. Yes. a lot of short form content is in 9x16. And alternately, landscape video can be any resolution from 1 x 1 to 21 x 9 (or, 64 x 27 is the exact aspect for 2560 x 1080). I can't help but feel like making a UI decision like this creates a larger problem. People are not aware that they can record and edit in ultrawide resolutions, and we need a way to encourage people to do so. This design choice does the opposite.

13:10 Wrong. If you hold the phone with your right hand, the easiest swipe is from lower left to upper right... the way your thumb naturally pivots on the joint.
