So, I research her story, and I never expected her story was tragic. She was rookie of the year back and she was awarded the 26th Japan Record Awards Grand Prix Best New Artist Award. Okada made her debut in 1984 when in April that year, she released her first single, "First Date", written by composer and singer Mariya Takeuchi the creator of Plastic Love.
Anyway, straight to the tragedy story happened.
While Fukuda, the management director and the staff were discussing how to avoid a media scandal, she was determined to be suicide. On the morning of April 8, 1986, Yukiko Okada was found in her Tokyo apartment with a slashed wrist in a gas-filled room, she was saved and turns out that the director said where she can stay. She chooses in Fukuda's office. Hours later, at approximately 12:15pm, she tragically took her own life by jumping, resulting in her instantaneous death. As In turn, it has been suggested that Okada may have had in mind idol Yasuko Endō, who also committed suicide by falling from a rooftop ten days earlier.
Yukiko Okada's untimely death shocked her fans and had a significant impact on the nation. The devastating news of her suicide led to numerous expressions of grief from her devoted fan base.
This music was debuted as "Summer Beach" (1985) Glico's Cafe Jelly jingle as one year later she committed.
Fun Fact: You might know the Perfect Blue, an anime film that was released in 1997. It is the directorial debut of animator Satoshi Kon
about story of a retired pop singer-turned-actress, Mima, as her sense of reality starts to shake as she is stalked by an obsessed fan while being haunted from reflections of her past. Actually, the reference is about her story of hers!
