All righty then, the "sectional sectional" (totally legit phrase) installment! I really like the whole mix-and-match concept of this set. Not gonna lie, I was right there with you at 2:39 ... that's my "what have I gotten myself into" face as well. I love the "what the heck, let's see what happens" approach... and look how well it turned out! Sometimes you just have to hold pieces up there (often utilizing the ol' cheek clamp 5:19 ) and see what it looks like. Of course, one could CAD it, but where's the fun in that?😂. The whole set has a great vibe, but that corner piece is visually stunning and it's kind of a shame that it gets stuck in the, well, corner 🤷♂and gets covered up with cushions. If you continue to struggle with where to put this other than the middle of your yard, you can just box it up and send it to me! 😊 Great series; looking forward to where you take us next!
So glad you enjoyed this one! I was a bit…overwhelmed while building it. But once it was finished, I realize I was just overthinking 🙈😆 that cheek clamp-works well when you need an extra hand 🤣 I’m glad you noticed that haha! I hope you enjoyed Bubs surprise appearance at the end. He has impeccable timing. I appreciate you watching and hope you and yours have a wonderful weekend!
My Lord I am so dumb. I've watched several of your videos and I have just now gotten to the outdoor furniture bits. I thought you were saying Cedar like the wood . But it took me about 10 minutes into this 15 minute video to realize that you were saying two-seater 🤦
I know if I can do it anyone can. For what it’s worth, I didn’t check for square a single time throughout this project. It pretty much pulls itself square by the end as long as the boards are cut the right length.
I think I way overthought the corner, but I just couldn’t decide which was the best way to do it (I had so many different ideas 🙈) sometimes it’s challenging to find a good balance between simplicity, ease of explanation, design, efficient use of materials, and appropriate strength. I appreciate you watching me work my way through this projects 😅 and I hope you have an awesome weekend! Happy building!
The sectional is beautiful! I really like your suggestion to mark the compound angle direction prior to the cut!!! (Don’t ask me why!) LOL… Lucy and Bubby are really going to enjoy this sectional! They’ve staked their claim! The stain color is perfect too. It just looks natural. Thanks for sharing these projects and offering the plans. I hope you all have a great weekend!
I have to visualize it or else I’ll cut it wrong every single time 🙈😆 Lucy and Bubs have definitely already claimed it. It’s currently crammed under my porch until I find a place for it and every time this week I’ve wondered where they were, I’ve found them chilling on it 🤣 I’m glad they’re putting it to use ha! I truly appreciate you watching and following along and so glad you enjoy the projects. I hope you have a great weekend as well. Happy building!
Shara, so grateful for your help getting the right furniture on our outdoor deck. I have to tell you I really appreciate you putting those plans into a bundle as some of us tend to be an "all in" type of personality. It's always fun to see Lucy and Bubbs taking advantage of your building abilities. I'm looking forward to some quality time on our deck this year. Hope you have a great weekend. Thanks for Sharing!
I truly appreciate your “all in” approach and I want to thank you so much (sincerely!) for your support of my channel and small business. I hope you can enjoy your deck this summer to its full extent 😎 Lucy and Bubs say hi and we wish you the best weekend!
Wow!!!!! Loved it... I've been meaning to make something like that but of course i didnt have the technical knowledge to do it.... you made what I've been imagining in my mind....THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
That’s a tough one! Not sure if any of these ideas are something you’d be interested in, but I like to use thin pieces like that sometimes for decorative trim-sides of cabinets, accent walls, face frames, even some geometric wall art or mosaic designs. You could glue them together to make 2x2s, too.
Thank you so much! Bubs has been venturing out and hunting during the days lately so he wasn’t in the shop with us much this time. But he knows when to make an entrance 🤣
This version turned out beautiful too!!! Don't know which I like best as each would have great benefits. You're amazing at working with angles. I like the method you use to figure them out. Looks like Lucy and Bubby both gave this their seal of approval. Thanks for another great video!
I’m having a hard time choosing a favorite, too 🙈 I liked the chaise better at first, but this one’s growing on me. Lucy and Bubs have definitely put them both to good use already 🤣 I appreciate you watching and hope you have a wonderful weekend. I hope the weather isn’t getting too warm over there yet!
Happy to hear you enjoyed the series! It was a lot of fun building these and I appreciate you following along and watching 🙌 happy building and have a wonderful weekend!
Solid and looks really good Ms. Shara. I now know what the difference is between a Chaise, and a sectional sofa now.. And yes I agree, marking the lumber against the piece you are fitting it for is more accurate. I almost always confuse the numbers and waste wood. Thank you for sharing Ms. Shara
Thank you so much! Those angles are tricky. If I don’t mark it to get a good visual, I’ll cut it wrong every time 🙈😆 I appreciate you watching and hope you and yours have a wonderful weekend!
The finished product looks amazing ❤!! I wish you were giving classes in Florida because I would totally pay. I feel you would have a two year waiting list of eager students. Each student would pay for your class and have to purchase all the materials for each lesson. At the end of each class students would have an amazing build to take home.
Great build series, i like the thicker furniture compared to other outdoor furniture. With all the cushions should make plan for a matching outdoor storage box(es)😅
That’s a great idea! It seems like this matching series may never be finished 😆 there’s always another piece to add. But a storage box would be awesome!
Thank you so much! It was a bit of a…process. But all in all, it wasn’t too bad (in hindsight 😆). I appreciate you watching and hope you have a great week!
I get it from the big box stores. I don’t have local lumber yards around here except for building suppliers-which sell the same stuff as the big box stores (just pine), just with much less convenient store hours.
Are you referring to treated PINE vs regular cedar? That’s what it sounds like based on the pricing you mention. If so, I discuss the difference between those and pros and cons of each in this post under the heading labeled “what kind of wood should you build an outdoor sofa with”: www.woodshopdiaries.com/diy-modular-outdoor-sectional/
@@WoodshopDiaries you're right that there is just a "rough green western cedar" that is $25 and the one I initally looked at was a pine that is "cedar toned" but there is also a a "premium S4S cedar dimensional" that is $8 so I guess I still am confused. Is S4S a lower grade wood?
@dominicscardino2304 S4S is surfaced on all four sides. So where rough sawn lumber is rough, this is smooth. It’s usually more expensive than rough sawn lumber, but I’ve noticed it’s actually cheaper in my area with cedar lumber as well. That’s not the case for any other lumber I’ve seen, but for some reason, it is for cedar. S4S cedar would work great for this. That’s what I used.

Haha she knows that’s exactly what happened 😆 she might share a cushion or two with Bubs if he’s lucky!
