LOVE the PSA on researching. I can’t believe how many people post things in forums and clearly just bought an animal without thinking about it. These videos give me the idea then I jump into the research. Thank you for putting out these great lists!
Yes indeed. On a local aquarium forum there was a post last week with a serious question about why a harlequin shrimp was causing a starfish to puff up.
I bought a calico crab for a new tank I have setup. Not a lot of people coming forward with information in regards to experience, but there's lots of obvious misinformation (for example: that the crab only ate algae when mine has been munching pellets, which match the crab being omnivores).
Exactly! These videos are just great for ideas or to explore options you did not know about. After that you have to do a tonne of research. For gods sake you are creating an ecosystem. At least do the due diligence needed to be successful.
Hefe! I’m new to the salt water world. Iv been gathering products and knowledge in preparation to start a tank. Your videos are great, very relatable. I do have a suggestion for a video. Beginner corals that are also rare. Or is that even possible?
Having a "rare" of anything is completely overrated. Anything that is hardy enough for beginners is most definitely not rare because a rare animal is rare for a reason. A rare creature is rare because it is either to expensive almost impossible to take care of. Another reason something can be rare is because its too unwanted to be popular. I think you can understand how none of the reasons something can be rare is good for beginners.
I have two Halloween’s in my 12g long that I got for $5 each at my LFS. One is active all the time and constantly eating algae, and the other only moves at night.
Can you make a video on cool and unique pet fish? I have a 10 gallon that I real want to turn into my first saltwater tank, but I want to stock it with some cool and interesting fish
I have one of the Halloween Hermit crabs. My niece named it Ginger. I would love to get a few more. One question about the Halloween Hermit though, will it change it's shell like other hermits? The Halloween seems to have a flat body where my other hermits have a more rounded tube like body.
I’ve got a pretty big Halloween hermit crab. How often do they change shells ? And how many times will they change shells? Do I need to order shells? If so where from ? thank you!
I love my scarlet hermits about 3 years ago I got 2 and they are still in the same shells unlike the blues I got 5 of only one has survived, they where consistently stealing each others shells and one even killed a snail for its shell. I had plenty of shells in the tank
I like blue legs- pretty cool looking but man they are some angry little guys. Killed one of my nassarius snails just for his shell even though I put plenty in there. This time around I’ve been successful at keeping them though- growing and changing shells easily.
@@MadHattersReef I don't think I have any. I think I had a straggler from a recent addition. It's not even enough meat to cook if it eats something else.
My clown is a idiot and plays with my arrow crab and my arrow crab just looks at him like your a idiot u realize I have claws but my arrow crab is well fed just in case
Please stop buying horseshoe crabs! They are cool looking, but they get effing massive, they do not breed in captivity. So PLEASE LEAVE THE HORSESHOE CRABS IN THE OCEAN!!!

@@krishnar1182 I love AskBRS but I always see some real doozies there. I mean I’m a rookie marine aquarist but holy smokes

Love the blue hermits. Seem to be smaller which helps getting in the small crevices to pick at algea.
Another benefit of the blue legged hermit crabs
Love symbiotic relation species, crabs are fun to watch if you pay attention to them :)
Very much so.
Just found you nice video just starting my 75gal back up been down for a few years had to Sub.

Blues are my favorite. Don’t seem to be a aggressive as the reds.
Very true
Great list Jeff. I'm a huge fan of the dwarf blue-legs and scarlet legs.
Thank you!
Nice list. I would add an honorable mention of the electric blue leg hermit. It would be in my top 5. I agree with the Scarlett being #1 :)
Good one, thanks for sharing!
I think one of my electric blue hermit crabs ate my leather coral
Awesome, what size tank is this?
Can you mix white, red, blue hermit crabs? Or, do you have to keep only one species.
I usually just try to get them the same size

That Pom Pom crab is awesome
They are also called boxing crabs which is way cooler🙂
What site is that? To purchase on your screen?
What website do you use
Scarlet hermit crab are the only crab that went ballistic on everything they see in my tank😂 still love him😅
😳
What website did you use to buy these crabs
Are you still doing live streams ?
Can anyone tell me what type of shells to look for as extras for my red/blue leg hermits? Will they occupy nerite snail shells?

I've heard that are a bit shy.

You really can’t put much in a 10 gal.. maybe a watchmen goby? Or a clownfish
I think that a barnacle Benny is pretty cool. They swim out of there home and back with food in less than a second😲
1st btw great vid my fav is the anemone crab
And Idk if you already have but can you make a vid on top 10 anemones
Awesome! Thanks for watching.

Great question, they will but they need cone shaped shells.

Electric Blue hermit crabs are my favorite.
They are a great little crab!
I have a sand sifting start are ther aney crabs I can’t have in with him
Unfortunately SSSF never make it to two years before they'll starve to death.
hmmmm...
Porcelain and emerald for the win!
Two great 🦀
I like your channel name haha.
Don't know if it shows my username but it's MattHatter haha
Oh thank you!
What about decorator crabs, IMHO they're the best crabs for our reef tank entertainment!
Never had one, maybe someday.
I like blue legs- pretty cool looking but man they are some angry little guys. Killed one of my nassarius snails just for his shell even though I put plenty in there. This time around I’ve been successful at keeping them though- growing and changing shells easily.
They are good little cleaners
I dislike all crabs except for the emerals since the others always end up killing some of the snails even though i be adding extra empty shells.
Pom pom crab and electric blue hermit is my hermit
halloween hermits are 6$ at my fish shop but i dont want one cause it would probably kill conches
That’s cheap
Damn, I just found a Bristol worm and I was thinking about an arrow crab. Guess that's not going to happen
Don't take my word on it...
@@MadHattersReef I don't think I have any. I think I had a straggler from a recent addition. It's not even enough meat to cook if it eats something else.
Man electric blue and orange knuckle didn’t make this list!!!!!!
maybe next time...
How do we private messages you? I've got something I'd like to donate to the Chanel
I get blues for 25cents
Top 10 predator tanks species!!
Good one, I'll write that done.
I don't want a arrow crab cause I hear there aggressive they eat snails, hermits, feather dusters, zoas and mushrooms, and some fish
Horseshoe crab look very wierd
Lol my arrow decided to make my ricordea a salad. It was annoying AF. Otherwise he left everyone and everything alone
Lucky, … I guess
My clown is a idiot and plays with my arrow crab and my arrow crab just looks at him like your a idiot u realize I have claws but my arrow crab is well fed just in case
the best crab is a no crab
Who tf is selling blue legs for $9 ?!
Me, if someone is buying...
