    More aggressive off road tires would have made a big difference. That being said it looked like it did pretty good considering the tires that were on it.

    First time in the mud and you are getting a feel of what it can and can’t do. That is great experience to learn from and getting stuck is part of off roading, airing down does help in mud too. Any little extra traction can help in those conditions.

      @ProdigalOverland  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep I thought about air down but only after I was buried in mud. oh well!

    Should have placed the maxtrax behind the rear wheels, use gravity assist to back out and re-try. Issue there was lack of rear clearance (shovel would have helped). Never would have made it up/forward on the trax in that. Also, get the hidden winch ;)

    "with all the mud and leaves", have not seen that Jeep look any happier!! Me too looking at it. Excellent adventure, you really do like torturing that truck. When I saw/heard those branches scraping the side of it, I was cringing. But... that is what is was made for, right? Awesome video, great driving - despite getting stuck - we are all learning with you!

      Very hardy SUV and reliable !!
      I have a request if you are in contact with representatives of a Jeep, then tell them for Russia they made the most reliable jeep!
      There is one Jeep Grand Cherokee in 2013 with a 3.6 engine, it has a mileage of almost 800,000 thousand kilometers or 497,096,954 thousand miles !! Not a problem except a broken gearbox !!

    How bad were the Air Bag damaged? I just have a New 2020 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk with a Hemi V8 and this is my First time with a Jeep with Air Bags for Suspension, I know that Range Rover has had them in their vehicles for years and Jeep is using a similar system. When I purchased my Trailhawk I MAX the Warranty and Extended Warranty so that I DO NOT have to Worry about Anything Other than Tires and Break pads and I am covered for Oil Changes for the first 6 Oil Changes and Tire Rotations.
    I keep Going Back and Forth on a Winch but after seeing what happen to you I think that is something that is going to get added to the List specially since I want to get the Chief Products Hidden Winch plate because that will add Rigidity to the Frame and Increase Structural Integrity in a Frontal Crash!

    • @ProdigalOverland
      @ProdigalOverland  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      So the system still works. I put a stick through each of the dust covers by the wheels. If I’m looking at the Quadra lift system drawings correctly the actual air bags are up under the wheel wells. Which would make sense.
      Also. To be clear we went looking for some trouble. I knew if I got stuck we would eventually be able to pull out. However a winch would have made it so much easier. Thanks for the questions!

      Hi Peter. When we were in Manistee National Forest we just followed the National Forest motor vehicle maps, snow mobile maps and ohv maps. We were mostly just messing around near my buddy’s house. He lives in the National Forest. You can get these maps on the National Forest website. We also used Gia gps to help navigate. I would recommend bringing a chainsaw with you.

      @@ProdigalOverland We have wheeled numerous times in the Manistee/Huron Nat'l Forest. So far we have yet to need a chain saw.
      A million acres of fun, but stay on open trails only so people just starting to wheel can enjoy it as much as we do.

    Thanks for entertaining us...again. We tend towards less mud & more rock on the trails close by. Great to be reminded of how varied the terrain is across the US. I thought the recovery boards would have helped more. Do you think having 4 vs 2 would have helped? Wondering if I should have bought 4.

    • @ProdigalOverland
      @ProdigalOverland  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t think 4 would have help. We would have buried the back boards. The Jeep had actually sunk about 3 inches further into the mud in the time it took us to get the recovery vehicle down. Thanks for watching!

    Portal axles allow for true lift without needing a bigger tire. That said, they are quite pricey. Also, better mud tires.
    Best vehicle for any mud is a Sherp. 😆 Still love my Jeeps.

    Definitely shows me you weren't prepare for Michigan offroads. Wait until you hit the deep sand routes and trails around Baldwin, Mi. You need a Wrangler in Michigan. Keep your Jeep in the Shopping Malls

      We run routes in Manistee in our 09 Liberty, 06 Grand Cherokee, and our 98 XJ. You don't need a Wrangler. You need common sense, a buddy if you want to be a little crazy, and a willingness to say 'not today'.
      All our vehicle have been bone stock, with AT tires. We will tacle the trails in my wife's KL Trailhawk next summer.

      If that suspension is ripped, like mentioned in the video, that might be the cheaper option. But, would hate to lose the adjustability of the air ride, no? Especially since most of the time he has been rock crawling with this Jeep. I guess we will see how deep his pocket book is! :)

    • @srtabc123
      @srtabc123 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m currently going crazy trying to find a limited hemi 4x4 with the tow package without the Quadra lift during these Covid-19 times. All my research on the coil conversion is that there’s no definitive answer on how to make it so that the “service air suspension” message isn’t on forever. Otherwise I’d get the trailhawk and convert it since I’d love the ELSD without the QL since Jeep never offered it any other way.
