What a fantastic sonata. The highly inspired lyricism finds its most admirable point in the second movement which brought me to tears. And what exemplary interpretation, with the violin as clear and poignant as one could possibly wish and the piano following in a melodically perfectly balanced and rhytmically precise way. Bravo!!!

Absolutely !!! It is one of Albert Roussell's four or five best scores. The slow part is quite poignant, as you said. And one does not suffer from that sense of rythmical monotony so often experienced in Roussel's last period. Probably a transition work like his second symphony.
