    The thing about the Skar King's elbows is that they could have use double jointed hinge elbows like a normal SH Figuarts. Using dumbell style joints is just unnecessary because elbows and knees don't need to swivel and hinges can allow a deeper bend in one axis.

    I some what agree my only issue is when SH Monsterarts are charging the price they are you deserve a figure that looks as near as the quality as in the promo shots. It dose not bother me as much if HIYA figures are not accurate as the promo shots as the price point is not as high. If you're gonna expect your customers to pay the prices, you want what you pay for.

      @Malacine 6 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Exactly this. I've stopped buying SHMA ever since the prices increased, with the quality of each figure seemingly degrading. Godzilla Ultima was the most I spent on one, but his quality was still nearly in line with the promo images. I've yet to see one Godzilla minus one photo where the head sculpt is as sharp as the original promo images.
      Given the cheaper price point of Hiya, it's very likely that unless SHMA improves the final release quality to match the promo images, I'll take my business to them. They've already won me over on both Evolved and 2000.

Despite HIYA being set to release a comparable product for a fraction of the price, collectors still showed up for SHMA dropping Godzilla Evolved. I think that while everything that you said about the bad faith with some pics of the figures and the reactionary sentiment over the Godzilla figures is real, the lack of consistency about what the companys are selling doesn't help either. I mean yeah, we have to know that everything that is showed from the renders, the promotional pictures and the convention sculpts is not the final product, but at the end of the day we are the final clients and all those things that I mentioned are meant to convince us to buy the product and start saving money for that. If they don't take care for that consistency, as a client maybe I won't save that money for the product but at the same time I feel frustrated at first I wanted that product.
    I think that while yeah, people overreact, they give reasons to do that. At least that is what I percieve of this situation.

    The cycle won't ever end, but the best that people can do is control themselves a bit better and not be impulsive with their reactions. I've certainly been guilty of it, but almost always ended up backtracking and thought to myself, "hold on, let's wait till I get it in-hand before judging it." Worst case scenario, if a figure doesnt meet my expectations I'll just sell it and be done with it. That's also why I try not to preorder things anymore. If I like how the final product turned out, I'll get it then.

Genuinely, most of this community is little gremlins who cant make opinions for themselves. Short hand reactionists unfortunately dominate everything now, especially impressions. Figures are probably have the largest discrepancy of what they look like in a photo than what they look like in person, and despite collectors usually having dozens of these in hand they are somehow always shocked by the differences LIGHTING makes. Especially in video reviews where studio lighting, from budget to professional is used. Its also tied usually with budgetary concerns, the more expensive the figures are, the higher the expectations and the more sensitive the knee-jeek reactions will be.
    I agree with whole-heartedly the quick to panic mentality of collectors is exhausting and unfun, you can be critical of a line, but to blow up saying "it looks like shit!" With every new solicitation makes me think these people are new to the hobby, ignorant of it, havent had enough experienced with different product lines, IPs manufacturers what different price points bring to the table, or just parrot their favourite reviewer without any first hand experience with the figure. Such as when Anthony Customs shits on a popular figure or STR people line up in the comment sections of other reviewers who held in hand to tell them their wrong or this other person "said X is this, Y is not" etc. It's like that with game reviews and movie reviews where there must be this usually criticism of the media, and differences opinions on SUBJECTIVE reviews are not allowed to exist all at once...you know like how REAL LIFE WORKS.
    Its fucking exhausting and will never end and good luck in the future being now knee-deep in the thick of it doing reviews. Like everytime I see a comment war with Hiya and Sh Monsterarts I just roll my eyes. You can like both guys or one or the other it doesnt have to be civil war in every comment section.

Some folks like content creators who have a huge incentive and possibly a little more cash to help showcase their products can certainly benefit from a photography booth like this. It is a vicious cycle indeed, and one that is only expounded upon by people who don’t actually own the products they’re usually unfairly scrutinizing. Evolved Godzilla was a perfect example, particularly with that world-ending green hue the figure apparently had, which made people go into a frenzy. Lo and behold: Lighting plays a big part in how these figures look. And, that heavy green dry brushing wasn’t so heavy after all, and is barely noticeable (looking at my copy right now). Evolved has also turned around pretty much completely in its reputation, now that people have like, actually gotten their hands on it in mass.
    I think a lot of people also forget to take into account that there isn’t one person who paints these figures, right? There are multiple painters who apply said application by hand, and probably work on, what, a myriad of copies a day? There are bound to be some variations here and there, just as there will be differences in joint tolerance, sculpt, and other logistical things that go into figure production.
    I think as well that we all need to remember that these figures are made in the thousands, or perhaps the several hundreds depending on the rarity. One, two, or maybe 5 lackluster examples that we see online does not even begin to account for the other thousands of copies that have nothing wrong with them. It’s tiring to have to go through this nearly every time a new release is revealed, and I’m glad that there’s some light getting eloquently shed on it.
    People will take either one opinion from someone online and run with it as gospel to say that the entire production line of a product is bad, or they’ll see one photo taken in an unflattering lighting condition and go, “see? Look at how bad that is!”
    It’s tiresome dude, lol.

    IDK if this is a hot take but I've got to be honest, I really feel that fandoms have too much input. Hiya completely overhauling a sculpt because people threw a fit over it is absurd to me, and I think it sets a very unhealthy precedent for the relationship between audience and creator. My feeling is that if you don't like the look of a toy, don't buy it. Audience feedback is hugely important, and I really appreciate companies/creators who communicate with their audience. That being said, I don't believe it's the audience's place to determine the creative decisions of the product. If Mechagodzilla looks a bit more slender than you'd like, I don't think you have the right to call for an overhaul of the sculpt. I understand wanting to please the customer, but I also feel that customer's are becoming increasingly unpleasable, be it because of increasing prices or increased amounts of input straight to the manufacturer. That's part of the reason I don't dip into high-end figures beyond the occasional Ultimates or Hiya. There's so much vitriol and animosity surrounding the tiniest details, it takes the fun out of enjoying action figures. At a certain point, I wonder if some people just want statues. Personally, I've pretty much stopped listening to reactions to new releases until trusted sources report on them because it feels so much like people trying to prove a point about their tribal line loyalties, (MonsterArts loyalist, Super7 loyalist, etc.) which defeats the purpose for me. My hope is that moving forward, folks will recognize that this isn't an exact science, and will, in your words, chill the hell out and give it a friggin' minute

Some whole channels are built on taking a sentence of news and milking it for days of content. That much analysis is going to bring out the nitpicks and these waves of anxiety and criticism and relief and hope with every new photo. Then on top of that you have the fact that Godzilla fandom is one of the most toxic and fractious fandoms. People don't just like what they like... they HATE anything else. @@kaijucanuck4492yeah but Ezila82 is telling the truth, fms video was a mixed bag, as he said the articulation wasnt bad, his SK arm popped out as soon as he tried to go past 90°, then Steven showed EXACTLY the same.
      Basically the contrary of what you said in the video "people say it cant go past 90, then they show a picture where it does" happened in fms SK video. I don't think he did it on purpose, but as I said, Ezila is right on this, im not joking either.
      Although at 7:50 fms shows that he can totally look like in the movie if you put some fucking effort into not making the figure look ugly, cheffs kiss

      @@kaijucanuck4492 It can did Articulation Series demonstrate this in a review? Man, this video reminded me of the color for SHMA Minus one that in certain lights Godzilla was a bit tan in color, but nope he was way darker.

    This pretty much only happens mostly with shma, because I haven’t seen anyone complaining about a hiya figure since Kong 2017. (This is in hands so not 2002. And I haven’t seen anything about 2014 yet) People clearly seem to be in this illusion that there’s this bloodshed between the two companies, when really they’re trying to do business, not compete. People complain about figures that use concept art, and look bad from it. Their intention was to use concept art. And it looks hella accurate (to the concept art). Lots complaining on shma’s part about the repaints, calling hiya some saint, when they didn’t think of the, what, 8 maybe 9 repaints that hiya did. I love both companies, and I know I’m getting sidetracked, but this comparison needs to stop. Let them do business.

      Here’s the difference, hiya’s repaints are actually good unlike most of shma’s

      Hiya has gotten plenty complaints with figures. The energized Godzilla spines were much thicker than they needed to be. The skull devils mouth membranes tore a lot. The most recent complaint is 2014’s teeth not being great. And for their repaints, they don’t increase the price. And in Ghidorahs case, they drop it in price.

    Charging $200 for a figure that has a horrible paint job and falls apart if you even touch it is just absurd. I wish people would stop buying shma

    With super7 I did notice it, but with 2014, I hadn't seen it. I just think the overhype has always been annoying, but I won't stop trolling in the comments.

    I always wondered, why does Monsterarts choose to use concept art instead of official designs most of the time?

    • @kaijucanuck4492
      @kaijucanuck4492  วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      For MonsterVerse releases, they try to have product ready close to when the movie comes out. This means they need to use references that are 12 months before the movie comes out, roughly. So, if something changes before the movie comes out, SHMA is already in production.

    Shma sucks and they charge way to much for shitty articultion and shitty paint job. I stopped collecting them over 4 years ago and never looked back. Switched to X Plus. 9/10 figures are great. Where as 1/10 figures are good for shma. I dont care about articulation so X plus works for me. People who do like articulation, well im sorry for you and youre better off buying cheaper Hiya.
