I think it can come from the unconscious in a way. Let's say a writer wants to say something important in their book by using dialog. They will consciously invent the actual context for the conversation. But we must also remember that the writer may have experienced a lot of dialog in their life, either through movies, books or by talking to people. This gets stored in the brain whether we like it or not. Therefore, said writer might be able to write the dialog by a very intuitive process, because even without actively thinking about it, the structure of dialogue is ingrained within them, just like riding a bike.
All creativity comes from the deep unconscious. From outside of existence. From the space beyond the realms of the the human mind. Hence why we use the term to in-vent (to bring something from outside, to inside).
Roi Yes, everything that comes into existence, must of course have come from outside of existence (and yes, that does include YOU). From the deep unconscious. From the never ending space behind the human mind. I mean, that is why when anyone has a genuinely new idea, they often say “I don’t know where the idea came from, it just came to me from out of the blue”. The ‘blue’ being the deep unconscious.
What would outside existence even mean? The point is it can't mean anything, there is no reference outside of what exists. This answer suggests that your epistemology is Platonic, meaning you are just pulling this out of your ass or most likely someone elses ass.
It can in the snese that if you are practiced at it's process. But content? No. When they true "creativity from the unconscious" it is usually an unintegrated mess of unrelated junk that it is "creative" because it is unintegrated. Rhode Island College had a course called "Giftedeness and Creativity" that I took in '76 in grad school. So legitimate psych linked intelligence and creativity, which I demonstrated could be done at will. Many musical instruments are associated with other things like (genuine) social movements, such as the Saxophone. I have held for years that the best instrument for Objectivism is the synthesizer. The control panel and parameters I am known for being able to do much more with than the keyboard. having begun in 1959 or 8 using the controllers of themonophonic section of our Hammond S-100 Chord Organ, which was a kind of proto'synth that came out 9 years before Moog debuted his machine, and was itself predicated on the Solovox from the 1940's with the addition of the capacity to create different audio waveforms
I can attest that all of my patents came from completely conscious thought.

I recommend watching the video first, then making comments.
