- In this Part 2 production by Egbe Omo Oni Isese, Sheena Ajibola Richardson, as advised by Baba Cyrus, goes to a water body (Blue Basin Waterfall - Diego Martin Trinidad) in an effort to connect with the natural energies of the forest and of the water. While proceeding up the trek of the waterfall, she meets Iya Ifaremi, performing an offering for Mami Wata. Ajibola and Iya Ifaremi have a discourse on Mami Wata, as she continues to seek knowledge to complete her Thesis research.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching this.
Beautiful
Beautiful Iya! Just let me say though. as born to Yoruba parents, although you are right that in Yorubaland, we have specific names for various energies. of. the water, like Yemoja, Osun, Erinle, Oya and Oba to name the prinicipal energies, water is still very much known in Yoruba folklore culture as Mami Wata. I'm seeing quite a few diasporan contributions on TH-cam not aptly describing the Yoruba water deities as Mami. It's not right. Yemoja the mother of all deities in Yorubaland has to be acknowledged for what she is known for and that is Mother of all water and mother of fish. And when we. sing in. praise. (Oriki) as you do here so beautifully, you are calling a major. Oriki. when. you call Yeye O! Yeye is Yemoja Yeye is Mother. Yemoja, Erinle, Oba, Osun. and Oya are specific energies of the water but this doesn't mean we dont include them in the pantheon of water deities. T heir. names are specif for direct and specific meaning💙🤍💙🧜🏾♀🧜🏾♀
