  • Hybrid Tables can be very useful for mixing archived data with current data. Pat Mahoney joins Patrick to show how to configure a Hybrid Table within a Power BI dataset without using Tabular Editor. Just some straight "M"agic.

    Great post Pat and Patrick , congrats
    Yes most of my clients only whant to use power bi or visual studio as external tool only for extra modeling (100% MS products)

    Amazing! Can you share the Pbix File to Study? I'm struggling to make the reverse Hybrid Table using Aggregate Tables.

    Is it possible for incrementally refresh table which has future dates like future forecast? Incremental refresh settings allows to set the time frame in the past only

      @project365 āļ›āļĩāļ—āļĩāđˆāđāļĨāđ‰āļ§

      Rather than using RangeStart and RangeEnd to filter in PQ, I would suggest you use a conditional logic in PQ to check if the RangeEnd is today's date, then add say X months / years to RangeEnd. I haven't tried this out, but just my thought

      @@project365 , how would it help to incrementally refresh just few days?

    • @project365
      @project365 āļ›āļĩāļ—āļĩāđˆāđāļĨāđ‰āļ§

      Yes it will. You need to know how many days in future you want to the part of the refresh, and add X number of days in the above logic to RangeEnd. Remember, IR refresh doesn't support this feature in settings, you need to hack it in PQ

    Benefit of hybrid tables, by its nature, is have archived data imported and recent data direct queried. Why would I want to reverse this?

      @jontew8853 āļ›āļĩāļ—āļĩāđˆāđāļĨāđ‰āļ§ +3

      It lets you have high imported performance on recent data without needing to import old history that isn’t queried often. Just like dynamic tiering.

      This approach can lower the size of your dataset and also reduce refresh times.
