    Mostly people see Shreya as classical singer which is true but she can also sing party and upbeat songs very well as well. Her song drama queen from movie hasee toh phasee movie is one such example.

    And the original song - 'Oru Murai vathu pathaya' from 1993 Malayalam movie Manichithrathazhu might be good one to check out for a complete review...That's sung by KS Chitra and KJ Yesudas, both singing legends and while the situation is same, the songs are completely different as well (but equally good)...Actress portrayed this character in the original was 'Shibhana' who is a trained classical dancer and she also won the best actress national award for this role...

    The malayalam original 'Manichithratazhu' is so damn underrated. 😞

    • @devdasrai
      @devdasrai 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have to both agree and disagree with this statement. I feel that among Malayali people, Manichithratazhu is put on such a pedestal that they are blind to seeing just how good later versions of the film are. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great film. And it has an essence which is not captured in other versions. However, there are things about the other versions which are missing in the original Malayalam version. For example, on Chandramukhi, Jyotika was actually scary and more committed to the horror aspect of the character… which made sense given that the movie is a horror movie. In the original Malayalam version Shobana’s acting is good but she’s far from scary. When I watch the original film, I don’t feel that horror vibe. Her character is too elegant and feminine to convince me that she is possessed with a vengeful spirit/ghost. Also take Bhool Bhulaiya. That version of the film has a good comedy and family film aspect that you don’t feel in the Malayalam version. It’s just not the same. So yes… The Malayalam version is great and more people need to see it. But it’s also not the greatest thing like many Malayalis like to make it seem. Each version of the film has done justice to the story in it’s own way.

    • @antiwokehuman
      @antiwokehuman 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@devdasrai you don't get most of the comedy of you're not from kerala. As for Jyothika's acting, just stop. It was grossly overdone. Your may have found it scary. I found it extremely hilarious to be honest. A few shots from the song rara and the led flaslight in the eye comes to mind. The original is much more organic. That's how it was supposed to be

    • @devdasrai
      @devdasrai 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@antiwokehuman Lol. Have you ever seen a spiritually possessed person? There’s nothing “organic” about it. People in that state are usually deranged, very strange, and sometimes it is almost funny looking. You can say that Jyothika may have overdone it, however she at least tried to capture that while Shobana did not. Shobana’s acting was far too demure. And Jyothika’s performance resonated with many people. Lots of people, not just myself, actually did find her performance to be scary at the time. Even the TH-cam comments under the video clips from the film reflect that. Jyothika won 3 honorary awards for her performance while Shobana has won 2. And as far as the comedy goes, again, that’s where Bhool Bhulaiyya wins. The comedy is more universally understood and not just specific to one community of people. Films that are universally understood do well a lot more, which is why Bhool Bhulaiyya was a commercial success and is more recognized than it’s original Malayalam counterpart. Numbers speak for themselves.

    • @antiwokehuman
      @antiwokehuman 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@devdasrai dude she isn't even supposed to be spiritually possessed. Go watch the film (the real one, not the rajini masala) first. It was embareasing watching the remakes. Hindi is the best remake tbh. Also, it's hilarious that you compared a few honorary awards to the national award for best actress. Made me realise how much of a waste of my time, speaking with you is🙄

    • @keerthanabhasker9300
      @keerthanabhasker9300 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@devdasrai i think i still have to disagree with the points you mentioned about the malayalam version. Im not saying anything is better that other versions, but the lead character played by sobhana was not possessed. even in the movie the doctor speaks clearly about her childhood afflictions to all the tantric stories and life she grew up with her grandmother along with the trauma of a lonely childhood and also her disoriented period during her school days for which she was mentally treated. Coming back to the present day something about that house and stories triggered back the SPLIT PERSONALITY DISORDER and then later treated. so u see. its not a horror movie. The reason she seems too elegant and the the suddent split peronality change is very much needed for the character.

      The malayalam version is a masterpiece.. the actress won a national award (highest film honor) for that climax scene alone coz she was barely in the rest of the movie compared to other actors in the movie

    • @indian.channelb1
      @indian.channelb1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@heyoheyo9635 she provided subtle acting throughout the story until the climax, which was exactly what the film required. Manichithratazhu IS and always will be Shobana Chechi's film. And huge stars such as Mohanlal and Suresh Gopi were just on hand to propel the plot... Saying she's barely in the movie is wrong bcz she was there throughout the beginning , and her very presence added to the plot's substance. I think you are referring to the Tamil version made into a rajinikanth film with him trying to play multirole and please his fans - which made the script lose its very essence.

    • @heyoheyo9635

    In the times of Asha, lata, kishore and rafi etc the studio versions also one take songs on a single track.. The singer and all instruments were recorded on a single Mike. Asha in her many interviews had explained how difficult it was yet now with 100 tracks for recording how singing is no more real singing...

    • @kkstv9238
      @kkstv9238 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of the singers sing the entire song in one go and add some nuances later which is inserted to make the song better so it still is real singing although there are some people who are abusing the technology of evolving the voice itself which is not real singing.

    Devdas came out in 2002 and that was her debut performance as a playback singer if i recall correctly. This song is from Bhool Bhulaiyaa which came out in 2007. I don't know when this video and performance was recorded but right now in 2022 Shreya has been playback singing for a solid 20 years. True veteran of the craft and she still remembers word for word a song that she sung five years into her career.
    I would imagine considering she's performed this song on stage, she keeps Mere Dholna fresh in her mind and voice because it's obviously a fan favourite.

    It is so clever of Waleska that she got the complexity of the song. The performing character in the movie is not mentally stable , so there is a frenzy and madness in singing but in the imagination of that character it is a dance she is performing in a celebratory situation at the royal court. So it is not fully mental or creepy to listen to.

    And in kannada and Tamil it's "Ra Ra sarasaku Ra ra" and in telugu it's "Ba ra" movie name "Chandramukhi"
    It's allso in malayalam but I don't know it's name but each language have this own vibe
