    I understand because of strict Communist Party laws, you could not talk about how they oppress Tibetans. Here is the full story.

    Nice video showing Yaks, Tibet, culture but Communist China invaded by force murdering million Tibetan still torcher in prison for simply raising their basic rights. My father had to flee for his life in 1959. My was separated never saw his mother and all siblings. He told me he was just ordernary monk that and he never did anything wrong to a single Chinese yet he had to flee for his life. He is no more in this World now.

      Understood and agreed. But this video isn't about that (there are many documentaries covering the political issues in Tibet). This story celebrates the Tibetan culture and the way of life of a yak herding family. hopefully it will remind people why the culture is so worth protecting.

    dear Englishwoman. I would like to say thank you so much for your beautiful video and explanation. it's really make me homesick. I spent 13year in nomad life with parents. I left Tibet 2006. now it's almost 16years that I haven't seen my land and my parents. it's really miserable life. Nowadays my connection with parents is worse and worse because of Chinese pressures. all Tibetan who left from Tibet stories are almost same. we are in free country but we always need to protect parents by staying silent in free country. I wish Tibet freedom one day.

    Each yak can be sold in the market or acquired by the government at the price 1000-1400 dollars. Provided there are 50 yaks owned by a nomadic family, the family actually owns a considerable asset which equals to 20 or more years anual average wage (if you don't eat or drink) of China ($2455). They are wealthier than most of workers in the city.

    Yak can't milk, the milky one is called Dhee. Yak is he and Dhee is she. Know the fact.

    • @OurHumanPlanet
      @OurHumanPlanet  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Absolutely right - a yak is a male. the female is called a nak or dri (I assume this is what you mean by dhee?). I struggled with this but decided in the end that it was more confusing to try to explain it and so worked around it in my narration. There is one more small inaccuracy - three of the animals in the herd were yak/cow hybrids (known as dzo). Kudos to you for noticing the discrepancy!

    Tibetans are shown dancing and enjoying but you haven't seen the hesitation behind their smiling face. It is because they are forced by Chinese authority to dance just to prove the foreigner making videos that Tibetans are happy in Tibet under Chinese occupation. You have proudly said in your video that chinese have worked hard to develop Tibet but the truth is they develop the road ways just to destroy Tibet and they are still doing it. So don't just show everything good. Be real n show how Tibetans are struggling n being killed in Tibet.

    • @OurHumanPlanet
      @OurHumanPlanet  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The dancing was not for the foreigner - I arrived halfway through an event that takes place every week. As for the slant - my absolute priority is the safety of the people I film. They saw the video before publication and asked me to take out certain elements so that they would not be at risk.

    • @Abyss_Blackholes
      @Abyss_Blackholes 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OurHumanPlanet i am not saying whether you arrived in the half way or not. Normally Chinese government forced Tibétains to show smiling face as if they are so happy under Chinese but the truth is just the opposite. Here's a crazy idea: would you be willing to have your students close caption one (or more!) of the videos in Czech as class projects? It's very easy to do using the TH-cam software - you just type in the Czech translation of each sentence under the English sentence. It would allow a lot more of your countrymen to watch the videos so their homework assignment would have a significant impact!
