@@DBeskar6605 I have several videos that might help, when it comes to learning more about AD&D 2E. I'll go fetch the links shortly. They are mostly about converting 2e into 5e, but they show how the 2e stuff works so the viewer can understand what they are converting. As for the ecology of the Dark Sun setting, can you be more specific as to what you would like to know. I might have something already posted or I might not depending on what you are looking for.
Hey first time commenting on your videos another awesome video man and an awesome introduction First character I played in Dark Sun was a Templar of tyr it was a test run and our group did really well we made it through with no casualties and ended up getting Filthy Rich my character became a noble of the city when was all said and done the next campaign we had I played a daughter of my character a psionicist and ended up going to urik on a caravan mission to get some obsidian orbs ended up getting embroiled in a conflict between a Elven tribe and a small Merchant House versus a powerful Merchant house in the city
You technically missed a few races, that are in theory playable. Kenu, and Yuan-ti exist, Kenu are mentioned only, Yuan-ti largely only show up in the video game, that is canon from my understanding? (The canon is messy, so easy to ignore) 3.5 via Dragon Magazine added a few races to Dark Sun too, but you're talking about the good old AD&D, so easy to ignore as well. (AD&D Dark Sun is over all better anyways)
I actually have a video about Dark Sun canon, where I encourage the Dark Sun community to decide what should be included. TH-cam took down the poll feature as I was making it, so we didn’t get to any conclusions.
@@ChrisMoneymakerDHRG To be fair it seems like Wizards forgot about this setting already, since it didn't show up in 5e, and was cut from 3.5 last minute. (official) Which is a real shame too when you realize this is more popular then dragon-lance. Then again 5e also was the edition to cut Grey Hawk.
It’s best that they left it alone. The one time they touched it 4e they gave us a couple of fancy maps and screwed up the world bad to map it fit the edition. It’s best left to fan made content. We will get much higher quality content that way.
@@ChrisMoneymakerDHRG Even the fan made stuff is pretty bad, I've ran and played 3.5 Dark Sun, and Pathfinder Dark Sun, both were very off base, to the point I questioned if any of them actually played Dark Sun AD&D
Great video, very informative! Im excited to roll my first dark sun character!
Me too. I can’t wait to get this game going.
