- Today we are testing some skincare and makeup hacks from the viral TH-cam and Tiktok channel, 5 Minute Crafts.
We want to debunk some of these hacks but also see if any of them actually work!
We test a DIY Natural Aloe Vera primer, a hack to draw the 'perfect' lip liner to make our lips fuller, plumper, and bigger without filler and we also make our own false lashes using a 3D pen!

Wow, James hitting us with all the cooking knowledge this week! A Bain Marie and knowing that chocolate and egg won't make a cupcake because "there's no raising agent in it". You go, Glen Coco!
Just for the record though, a Bain Marie is when you bake something (like a custard) in a tin of water to provide thermal control. What this hack uses is a double boiler, where boiling/ simmering water is used to gently melt something delicate like chocolate.
@d3pr0fundis you and james are both correct, actually. Water baths and double boiling are both referred to as a bain-marie; despite having different applications (one in baking and the other for tempering and melting); makes it a touch confusing, but yea

When cutting aloe, let it drain upright for an hour and the smelly yellow goo will come out then the branch goo will be clear and ready to used:) the yellow goo is used as a laxative!

The yellow goo stings my skin and can trigger a rash on me (not serious, but it’s just not something I can use). I’ve always assumed it was separated through some kind of technological machinery for beauty products since I’m not allergic to aloe skincare products. I’ll try this now!

In America we call it a Ban-Marie (Bain if you're fancy) if it isn't over direct heat. It's only a double-boiler if it's over the actual stove. Though I imagine a lot of people use them interchangeably but I've never heard a baker/chef use anything but Ban-Marie for this specific application.
@@pagecarlee626 I've always known bain marie as a water bath in the oven. I've always thought of a double-boiler as a separate pot I'm not buying or storing. I use a bowl over a pot of simmering water on the stove with anything that might separate or needs to be melted slowly (like chocolate and butter) and never really thought to call it anything specific except 100% more reliable than the microwave.
In spanish we call it "baño de maria" literally "maria's bath" or the French bain-Marie hehe

I especially wouldn't recommend the chocolate "hack" if you have a skin reaction to excess arginine (which dark chocolate has A LOT of). It's good to eat in moderation because the skin can def react badly to too much, but it's definitely not for the face haha!
Aloe vera definitely does have some immediate soothing properties but obviously you know it's not going to penetrate the skin. And to anyone doubting it's definitely not for the eyes. Please to anyone reading, do not put food anywhere near your lashes and eyes. It'll become a bacteria heaven

Yes finally someone who understands putting foods directly on the skin can do more harm than good! People often forget that in skincare they use certain beneficial ingredients of plants/fruits but only in small and safe amounts. The raw gel in aloe vera can actually be very irritating to the skin, let alone on the sensitive eye area.

4:50 Fudge brownies (brownies with no chemical leavener), that is how the batter looks. I gag every time I look at it too. I am a certified baker, so I put myself through that trauma all the time!
