I'm a month away from 73-years-old. I first heard this song 40 to 45 years ago on a live recording. It has never failed to hit the spot for me. Such an effective musical piece, on an exceptional wavelength. Very special composition.

Jack always replenished my love and need for music everytime I heard him perform. Because in everything he did in music was a performance - whether he played bass, piano, cello, and even when he sang - and he would never perform at less than his best. I miss Buddy Holly, John and George of the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and Felix Papalardi who all died before their time. But Jack Bruce I miss the most. I love you Jack. Rest in Peace and good music

This man goes down in history without having to play a 5 or 6 or 18 string bass with a zillion notes per second with tapping, slapping, harmonics and gadgets and all the other virtuosos whose music somehow ends up in the 99 cent bin and is forgotten. This is ironic if you think about it.

How can Bruce calculate figuring out where to put his fingers without a fret and yet strikes the right chord?

Experience/ Chops . OIt's tantamount to myself as a photographer gaining enough experience, to routinely leave my light meter at home .

He was also a ‘cellist and double bass player- neither of those have frets so a fretless bass was naturally “easy” for him

Can anyone tell me the exact model of bass he’s playing? I can see it’s a Warwick but that’s all.
