I think if you want the most immersive experience in a game with incredible stealth and combat, you're missing out if you pass up on The Last Of Us Part II. I've played it through twice, once on PS4, once on PS5 and I think this will be my third go haha. Love or hate the story, the combat and encounters you experience in Grounded are hard to find in many other games like this.

The great thing about grounded is that the more you play it, the more you get used to not being able to use listen mode or dying very quickly, having to know where the enemys will go and all that stuff. I only play on grounded now. It‘s become the definitive way to play for me. Absolutely love this game!
Yep, it really pulls you into a totally different game just by taking away all those assists, love it and find it hard to play it any other way, though Survivor is a bit less punishing at times ha!
6:35 is such a satisfying kill, reminds me of the first game where Joel and Ellie get hit by that car trap and you're Joel and you also run with the adrenalín pumping and beat the shit out of the guy hurting Ellie.

I never understood why listen mode is not part of the accessibility options anyway. 🤷♂ It's cool that you can turn it off even in the lower difficulties.
A full Deef playthrough would definitely be highly appreciated.

I love that NaughtyDog added an accessibility option that turns quick-tap events into hold. If there's one thing I hate in a game, it's one that STARTS as a reaction but then ends up purely being a step-by-step process for murdering your controller.
yuuuuuuuup I think I switched that on a LONG time ago, also great that they let you carry over all your PS4 progress, it's a no brainer but I've seen some companies miss that mark on that simple yet extremely useful detail

the last times i had talked to you, and now this gameplay clips. i havent watched last of us in about two years and god the colours the mechanics , the emotion on the mans face, realising he was the last to face the two. everything about this game, with YOU is just chef's kiss. there arent many things that have this emotional attachment to me like this game does. definitely needs a playthough in this difficulty. please man. i cant genuinely express how happy i am to see you and this game together. i almost have golden retriever energy right now lol

It's cool to see others who enjoy the gameplay as much as I do, nice video. In my second playthrough I began restarting a lot of encounters right after the last enemy had fallen, just to experience it all over again. Nice touch with the lowered music, might give that a try as well. To me grounded+ feels a little bit easier than grounded though. Because of your arsenal and crafting recipes you tend to find more resources (e.g. bottle parts in Jackson, SMG ammo in Seattle). And using the SMG in single-shot mode you can dispose of a lot of enemies in silence.
Little late to this helluva party! Well done, from 7:50 to the second you said “school is adjured” was pure perfection. Though I can only imagine how many times it took to get right, the fluidity of your movements and the quick, split second, and decisive choices you executed made that piece all the more remarkable. You’ve gone and made me want to play TLOU1/2 again. Well done!
I'm very happy for this video!! I remembered seeing people talk about the gameplay feeling shallow and easy after I'd just beaten it on grounded and it frustrated me a bit!! I've always been telling others it's the most fun and immersive way to play.

It’s just incredible to see the player navigate through the game's challenges with ease. Engaging in gameplay through this approach allows one to fully comprehend and admire the intricate technical aspects and capabilities of the game. No wonder why it was GOTY when it came out.

I agree wholeheartedly, I've only ever played both games on survivor and then grounded, I never experienced listen mode until the No Return mode, and I love the arcade action, I still miss the feel for grounded. Gonna have tp practice up and get into it again.

Every time I play a game I always play on the highest difficulty. I have played this game hundreds of hours and I cannot get enough of it. I love the mechanics. When I played grounded for the first time I only died about 10 times throughout the whole game. And I mostly use arrows with headshots & explosive arrows when enemies are swarmed together in very rare occasions. No Return is extremely fun as well.
Okay, I'd be down to see some more of this.

I played grounded my first play through. It was brutal and terrifying but so worth it. Nice video!

That's the thing about this game's reaction I don't understand. Story debates aside, the quality of the game design here, the sound, the animation work, core stealth and shooting mechanics, gore system, set pieces, level design, etc.. are absolutely best in class. It's not the DEEPEST stealth game necessarily as your toolset is relatively minimalistic, but it's easily one of the most satisfying, intense, stressful, and immersive stealth/action games ever made, by far. It's also an excellent survival horror in the some of the infected sections. Debating some of the writing decisions in the story is fair, but the actual GAME here is pretty goddamn excellent by just about every objective metric.
Minimalistic? You get a bow, explosive arrows, silent takedowns, silencers, shivs, bombs, mines, molotovs, can upgrade rifle/ hunting pistol for a sniper, it really isn't minimalistic at all
It is compared to a lot of other stealth games. Wasn't an insult, I think this game shits on most of them in terms of feel@@kittylemeu1373
Playing it on grounded reminds me the stealth and how to be extra cautious I have to be like in Manhunt from Rockstar Games in very hard mode

What I loved but hated is the awareness of your enemies and certain actions affect the way you played.
AI that were built so, so well, I loved trying to think what they'd do next, almost like chess.. with guns.

TLOU are my all time favorite games, but I believe grounded is harder than grounded plus because the fact of being able to start with certain weapons & ammo not allowed on the first play through. Loved the video.
First run of both part 1 and 2 was on hard. Finished part 1 on survivor and currently at the aquarium on part 2 survivor. May try grounded some point
I like grounded mode also.
But I find when the game throws you into fight situations like at the start it’s almost impossible.
The Last of Us 2 gameplay is superb. I played grounded to a point until I got stuck.

I was struggling to decide which mode to play this game on first. After this video I decided Grounded was the right call and I'm glad I made it. Probably made the game take twice as long to beat but it was so much more immersive.
I do need the crosshairs though. :) not sure how you manage that

Hate the story in the second last of us but the first one was really good. Really wish there was a more open or less linear mode to this game. Even just randomized levels so that new playthroughs could feel new vs after dying so many times you just learn what they will do. Love the vids man keep it up
I have watch a couple of other playthroughs of this game, because I wasn't really interested in playing. But you style has me reconsidering it.
I appreciate your honesty in that you died several times. Many 'hardcore' players will post their plays and have you believed they did it with no or very few deaths.
So, what mode next? Iron man" Where you die once then start over? Hell, I don't even know if I could do this on normal mode.

yo i beat the game on grounded and grounded plus after watching this video, thanks dude, ur video rly made me want to play on grounded and damn i was satisfied fully by playing on this difficulty. this game should have been played at least on survival, before watching this vid i thought tlou 2 gameplay was nothing special, not much replay value, but i was wrong, i can go again after few days
Hell yeah well done mate! That's no easy feat, so fair play! And I actually think the most fun way to play (once you've got Grounded and Grounded+ handled) is Survival. It opens up creativity and fun a bit more, if that makes sense. Well done though!

Haven’t played in awhile because grounded is so difficult ! Currently stuck as Abby in the creepy house with very little ammo and too many infected that by the time the bloater shows up I’m screwed!

the immersion this game provides is unmatched for me even being such an emotionally taxing game i find no other game to be as satisfying to play on all fronts , they really went ham with the gameplay when they didnt even need to the higher dificulties make this an actual tense experience

This game is an absolute masterpiece. No game is perfect. Its messages are too heavy handed sometimes, and it is just too depressing and cynical for me to replay...but again, it is a masterpiece
