The first one is called Hiragana, and it's used for basically anything, whereas Katakana is used for foreing words, scientific words or to give emphasis to certain words. While everything in the letters was written in either kanjis or Hiragana, there were a few characters that were written in Katakana for apparently no reason, making the guy who was reading the letters confused. In fact, if you listen carefully, you can hear him say "Katakana" lots of times!

My Japanese is limited, so this may not be correct, but
In the subtitles of the tapes, the speaker says that some letters are written in caps. This is actually a localization, to make it make sense in English. Japanese does not have upper and lower cases. I believe the speaker actually says that certain symbols are written in katakana rather than hiragana. Both alphabets have the same number of symbols that make the same sounds, but hiragana is used for regular Japanese and katakana is usually used for borrowed words, mostly from English. Thus, it would be weird to read Japanese writing in katakana when it's not a loan word, just like it would be weird to read English with letters capitalized at random.

Jay, you should totally play Saori Schoolgirl Superviser, I recommend playing the JP multiplayer one since it has more features. If you do play it, Here's a hint so you see the storyline. Your locker has a star, which holds a keycard. On one of the B building floors there's a door that need the keycard to open, you'll figure out the rest. Do the to-do list first, remember, the game isn't 100% completed

I noticed Jay had a few questions about Japanese so I thought I'd answer them here! (I'm a Japanese student ^^")
- obaasan does mean grandma, but can also be a way to refer to an older woman.
- Japanese doesn't use capital letters quite the same way English does. There are multiple Japanese alphabets, but using katakana (アイウエオ) in place of hiragana (あいうえお) can be read similarly to how we enterpret shouting over text.
Hope this clears up any confusion!
My opinion on reading the thing is, I don't believe in taboos myself (my beliefs doesn't allow me to do that), however I understand to take other culture's or other nation's stories and folklore stuff with respect. So, personally, I love that you have some form of respect (even if you do say it's being a lil b lol) for it! I love the content either way ✨👌

I looked it up and it turns out it’s a creepypasta with the original cursed poem I think cuz the poem used in the game is sort of to the left of the original translation and the title is different

But of course the story itself is not true. It says you’ll be cursed but that’s just a rumor.
Cursed poems and songs are common urban legends in Japanese myths, next to chainmail type of stories (those that say that you need to tell someone else said story to be saved).
It used to have an effect but it became too overused with time and it's not as scary anymore.
I suppose the reason why some people have been 'cursed' from reading it is just some sort of screwed up placebo effect type deal. Either way, it's best not to chance it but it's most likely just a rumor!

For those who don't know, the game is based on Tomino's hell poem. If you pay close attention you will find the capital letters spelling Tomino's hell in the tapes and they have just changed the wordings in the poem and the title since if someone actually reads it while playing the game they are not harmed in any way.
I like how Jay would always take the chance to roast the characters even in the most scary game lol.

For the capital letters part that Misaki talks about in the tapes, the translation is adjusted to fit for the english language. He's actually saying that the letters are being written in katakana instead of the usual hiragana/kanji combo. Katakana is typically used for foreign words so it brings a weird amount of attention to those letters.

Well I read the searched the letter up and read it in Jp and Eng but I am still alive and well. It’s just a legend. As they say, you are the architect of your own design, so if you believe it is cursed, you’ll make it to be exactly that.

the original poem is called "tomino's hell" its a japanesse poem written by Saijō Yaso in 1919 its about a boy named tomino descending into hell. The term here translated “hell” is “jigoku,” the Buddhist hell complex into which very sinful people can be reincarnated.
It is said that if you read the poem out loud, then you will die or suffer greatly. In 1983, a director named Terayama Shuji made a film based on the poem and later died, which gave further grounds for the legend.
