    Today I wanted to try something new, to play with another racket. The people over at the tennis court I play had given me a clash 100L v1 and I loved it. I had so much more control than the one I usually play with. I didn't wanted to hit harder because I wasn't used to it but it made me realize some of the mistakes I did in my movement or how I hit a forehand or backend

    V1 98 was a perfect racquet. Low flex, 16x19 pattern, great swing weight. Wilson, literally, changed everything on the V2. Im hoping V3 is a carbon copy of V1 in a new paint job.

      none of the new clashes are real clashes anymore only the 100 and 100L v2 as the RA is 57 and 55

    I had the Wilson Clash 100 Pro V2… It’s a GREAT racket which gives me power & lots of spin on my shots! I use Yonex Poly Tour Rev Orange strings! 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡 But I sold mines to friends who were suffering from tennis elbow & had some wrist pains. I’m back to using heavier rackets like the RF97, PS 90”, PS 85”, and Volkyl PB10 93”. 😎 My buddies, and I are just weekend tennis ball whackers who does a lot of trash talking at each other! 😂🤣😂🤣😝

    Not sure I agree. I used 100 pro v1 and switched to v2. I like the update. While I don’t find it as plush as the v1, much more improved on control and more versatile. Can use spin when needed or flatten the ball out. V1 was pretty inconsistent had the propensity to fly on me

    • @sjjapp

      @@geetartennisman that's objectively not true.
      Edit:
      Some good players do.
      Some don't.
      Most don't under a certain age now.
      And what is heavy and what is a small size head? That in itself has changed. 95 is small now and dying both at retail and on the pro tour, yet as the OP said years ago it could even be considered a large head size.
      Mass/heavy swinging rackets, the idea of that is to increase the effective mass of the stringbed. The effective mass is what determines the power. Modern rackets actually don't need to swing as heavy to achieve the same effective mass, which is why lighter rackets are a viable option in today's game. Like Alcaraz with his 305g unstrung racket with a 325 strung swing weight. The Aero 98 literally punches above its weight.

    The problem with the 98 is that the head shape is more like an egg while the 100 is wider on top. But that was the case already in v1.
    The additional cross is perfectly fine, what isn't is that the pro and the 98 are much stiffer than the normal clash 100.

    • @louiselouboutin9045

    • @louiselouboutin9045
      @louiselouboutin9045 ปีที่แล้ว

      the 98 is egg shape oval on purpose because it is more aerodynamic it gives faster racket head speed

    • @LarzB
      @LarzB ปีที่แล้ว

      @louiselouboutin9045 i had the blade in my head, not the clash. The top of the clash which moves fastest has less frontal area making it more aero.. in theory you're right, but i doubt if that is a huge impact.
      Even if it has an impact, the top being smaller squeezes the sweet spot, making it smaller and lower in the head. So you need to hit the ball closer to your hand, which decreases the speed of the head at that point relative to the ball, so although faster head speed, the contact point speed is lower, negating the former

      @@smashthestateX Yeah, I'll admit I'm very picky... and not close to top 15 in anything! So the Clashes weren't to my liking; I've tried a bunch of Blades (98, 104, 101L and others) none of which I liked particularly and the 98 flared up my tennis elbow quite quickly; a couple of reviewers have said the new Shift racquets have caused arm pain so they're out and the Ultras are again too stiff for my liking (I've only hit the Ultra Tour or Pro, can't recall, but didn't love it). Have also hit a couple of older Pro Staffs but again, not overly impressed and I'm not going out of my way to try the others although I wouldn't count them out (I also don't like the new colour, Pro Staffs should be black!).
      Racquets that I DO actually like include the Yonex Ezone DR98 and Head Auxetic Speed MP, my current stick.
      Although I haven't tried everything out there, I've owned, borrowed, demo'd, tried 20-30 racquets in the last few years and this is where I've ended up - and I'm not in a hurry to try a load more.

      i agree i dont see the point of the 100 pro change with extra cross they say it is to get some junior soon to be college player onto it but it defeats the purpose of what a clash is supposed to be a low RA racuet and they all use pro stock paint jobs anyway so what is the actual point of changing the clash this much.
      only low sales will make them revert back but from a PR pov wilson will not back track and admit they made a mistake they'll double down and keep it the same or go even stiffer.
      so i dont have high hopes for the v3. i think at best the v3 100 will be similar RA of 57

  • @meadowlarkkevin4361

    Impossible to use a Clash 100 Pro after using the Prince Phantom O3 100X as that racket is truly plush and despite the thin frame can be played at the highest levels in the right hands. The Wilson Clash feels like you are always hitting flat tennis balls. I didn't find the 100 Pro arm friendly at all. Maybe for people below 4.5 the weight of the Clash and thick frame would allow them to block balls around the court, but if you want to play at 5.0 or higher you need to be able to swing a racket for 2 hours against big hitters. I was hoping to like it, but had to face reality that it was going to cause problems.
